We liked the look of Avalon - Quarterway as we drove up. We were checking out assisted living facilities in the area for our aunt. The greenery looked nicely kept and pleasant. The staff was quite nice - very attentive to us and we could see the level of interaction with the residents which showed that they really cared about the seniors. We saw a variety of ambulation -- from a few people on walkers, to those who were fully able to walk by themselves. The main areas were nicely decorated, warm and cozy. All the the furniture was easy access. The activity rooms were nicely designed and featured many interesting ways for senior to spend their time - from stimulating reading, to games and socializing. The media room looked like a great place to enjoy a film. The seniors are also taken to many cultural events in Dallas, from art to plays, and new cinema to casual and fine dining and shopping excursions. There are exercise facilities with classes and private instruction for yoga, weight training and machines. They may also enjoy walks along the paths and are invited to play outdoor games like baseball, basketball and soccer if they like. The private living spaces were warm and comforting. Each was well equipped and designed with an eye toward ease of access. Plenty of storage and more available if needed. The dining areas were elegant and tasteful. The foods offered looked appetizing and healthy. Residents may also make special requests any time they wish. They are also offered numerous snacks throughout the day and evening. A very nice place for seniors to live -- in a homey environment with excellent care.
