I have found Crown Cypress Assisted Living for my mom. What made me choose them is the energy and the feel of the place. The rooms were large. The staff was really on the ball. Everybody seemed to be passionate about what they did. I like the large rooms. There are big, long hallways that my mom will have to navigate. There are lots of nice common spaces for her to socialize, too. They have a salon, they have religious services, and they do activities like bingo and stuff like that.

I've only been to Crown Cypress Assisted Living on a small tour. My mother-in-law hasn't moved in yet. She will move in two weeks. I like everything about it. There is nothing negative at all. All the residents were hanging out together outside in the fresh air, chatting and laughing. They had coffee and snacks out for them to go get to whenever they wanted to. They had an activities director that was walking around all day making sure people were not just hiding in their bedroom. They were out participating in and socializing and whatnot. The people there really helped me with finding Medicaid options, and they offered to help with furniture if we needed it, and they have just been nothing but amazingly helpful. They have a very full snack station that the residents could go-to for coffee, sodas, cakes, chips, and whatever they wanted to. Everything was clean. There wasn't any dust anywhere like the other places that I had gone. Outside was tended beautifully. Where the residents were sitting was nicely landscaped. Even though they're right there in this hugely busy intersection, they're hidden off behind an apartment complex, and it's nice and quiet with all the trees and shrubs, so you can't even see the busy road, highway, and whatnot.

I chose Crown Cypress for my mother because it's cozy, it's small, the people were friendly, and it's clean. I liked the residents that I talked to. They had crafts. The residents all said that the food was good, and they offered me a meal. The rooms were small, and they had semi-private and private. They had entertainment, singing, and activities for them to do. They also have a physical therapist that comes in.

My mother is living in Crown Cypress now. I think the staff is not only good at doing their job, they make people feel welcome. My mom loves it. She says she is treated like a princess. The rooms are very nice. The one she has just has a new carpet in it. It is freshly-painted, and it is very large. She says she is not expecting things like that. The food is really good. She is very satisfied with the food. The dining room is very nice, and modern. I do not see much of the activities, but I know they take them out on drive, let them go look out at what is around them. They take them out to eat every so often. Last Christmas, they take them out to let them see the lights. They do have crafts, and things that are going on constantly there. They really work well with her, and with me.

What I like about Crown Cypress is that it wasn't huge in size, and it is close to where I live and to where things are that I would be going to. The dining area was OK. Food was OK. With regards to sanitation, Crown Cypress appeared to be clean. The staff was very nice.

Its not the most up to date beautiful facility that some of the others in the area are, but the staff and atmosphere is priceless. Hands down the best assisted living and In-Home Care in Kingsport Tennessee.

Been to this facility several times. Great group of residents... can not say the same about the entire staff. Some of the residents require a lot more care and assistance than an assisted living is supposed to do. Some of the staff is cold as ice. If you check out this facility ask them about their fire drills and when is the last time they actually passed one. I'm sorry but if they can't get them out for a drill what's going to happen when the real thing happens?

I was welcomed warmly when I arrived. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable about all areas in which I had questions. The location is excellent just a 2-3 minute drive from Indian Path Medical Center and a 5-7 minute drive from Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. The exterior view was wonderous as it is set off the highway and surrounded by the beauty that only tennessee has to offer. The interior area was equally nice. I feel comfortable that when the time finally comes for my mom to have to give up complete independance that this is where she will go to. After driving around and looking at other facilities this is by far one of the top in the area. My mom and I sat down and discussed what I had seen and she is comfortable in my judgement of this establishment. My mom says that when the time comes would love to be a resident here.

I would recommend The Oaks in Kingsport to anyone who is looking for an assisted living home for their elderly loved-one. The building outside and the surrounding landscaping was immaculate, the indoor area was clean and well-kept, and it has a much more pleasant atmosphere than any nursing home would. It seems more like an apartment complex for the elderly rather than an assisted living facility - but the staff are always there to help when they are needed.
