The Best Assisted Living Communities in Washington County, VA

"We have already placed my sister in Renaissance House. The place is OK, but it is pretty institutional-looking, i.e., not cinder block walls, and not homey. My sister shares a room with someone. It is not very large, but it is OK. This place is sort of in the residential area. They can get on a bus and go around and go to the stores, shopping centers, movie theaters and things like that. That's relatively nice that they have access to that, but they have to pay for it. Also, you could walk around outside the facility. So far, the activities are pretty limited. The food looks unappealing to me, i.e., like hotdogs, beans. They're cheap and not healthy food. I would pick my sister out and take her out every chance I get. What they could improve on, is that they could get a real dietitian in there to plan healthy vegetables. They hardly ever have fresh vegetables and fruits to eat. Also, they could have activities for them. The place is nice and clean, but I think they could make it a little more stimulating and find a way to take them places where it doesn't cost them more money. "

"English Meadows Abingdon Campus was clean and well maintained. The staff and the people that lived there were friendly. I was there at the tail end of breakfast, and the lady apologized for the dishes being left on the table, but I said that it's a good thing because I can see if they ate their food or not. There was no food left on the plate. So, that means it's good. If I didn't have to wait on the VA funding, I bet my parents are there right now."

"I am a nurse. I liked that the owners and staff care about the residents. The residents like this place better than others with much older people and drug infested adult homes. Keep up the good work. "

"Covington Senior Living of Lehi was a brand new facility that just opened. They were still putting in chairs and things. They had a flat rate, but when we looked at what the flat rate covered, it didn't cover all the things we thought it would, and it was quite a distance from where we live in American Fork to get to them. It would be right through the center of Lehi to get to them. They were nice people and accommodating. We were considering them. They were still working on it, but it looked like a nice facility. The staff during the tour was very nice. They had all the amenities that everyone else has, or at least they would have once they're done working on the place. They have separate eating facilities and rooms to meet them. They have a library, a movie room, and an exercise room. It's easy parking. The exterior was clean and attractive and the grounds were attractive. It's a safe enclosed area. Our tour guide was listening to all our needs. They have a nice dining room, there were snacks available, and they cater to specific dietary needs. There was a posted activities list. There were private rooms available."

"The staff was very friendly and helpfpul. I helped them in the kitchen for two days. The residents have everything they need and could ever want, they are well cared for. The facility is quite large and houses many residents. I got to know some of them over the two days I was there and alot of them where friendly also. "

"The Service was excellent , residents seem happy and enjoy the environment, which is on solar hill above downtown bristol. I have visited my grandmother at Fort Shelby recently. she was happy and well attended for, reported well of the service and enjoyed the food and interaction with housemates. "

"My uncle is in a facility called Hands of Grace. It is old, but it is functional. It looks OK, and they have taken good care of him. He went in there this December in the assisted living. The staff is very good. He has a little patio. He is alone in his room. I would recommend this facility to other people. "
