What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
Oakmont at Gordon Park is a torch sponsor and works very closely with Alzheimer's Tennessee that serves exclusively the East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia area. All proceeds raised for this organization stays within the East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia area. Alzheimer's Tennessee provides ongoing training for our staff in Memory Care that addresses any issues that might arise when caring for our residents. Alzheimer's Tennessee provides ongoing dementia simulation training for our staff. Alzheimer's Tennessee offers a support group on campus each month for our resident and area families struggling with loved ones suffering from this disease.

Oakmont at Gordon Park has a variety of age populated active senior adults living in our assisted living communities. Our resident's ages range from moderately young to seasoned in their different ages and walks of life. Locally owned by three Bristol men, Oakmont at Gordon Park offers a unique flavor of senior living. The lifestyle and menus are truly created and customized with our resident's our input.
What programs or activities does Oakmont at Gordon Park offer to enrich residents' well-being?
Oakmont at Gordon Park specializes in unique Life Enrichment activities. Residents enjoy outings to see plays at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia. Our "Lunch Bunch" outings are most Fridays with a variety of local cultural restaurants to visit and enjoy. The Pinnacle Shopping Center is a short bus ride away with several outlet mall shops to choose from.

Oakmont at Gordon Park is just minutes from Bristol Virginia and Tennessee historical downtown. The Bristol downtown is very alive with several unique merchants and restaurants to visit.

Oakmont at Gordon Park has a bus for residents to enjoy group outings and a car for more personal transportation services such as doctor's visits or requested special transportation.
What makes the chef or dining program at Oakmont at Gordon Park exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?
Oakmont at Gordon Park is unique in that our dining hours are very accommodating for those that wish to dine at certain hours instead of meal times being regimented. Breakfast is offered from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Lunch is served from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and Supper is served from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Room service is also offered at no additional charge. Oakmont also offers an anytime menu between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to accommodate residents between meals.
What safety features or security measures does Oakmont at Gordon Park offer to assisted living residents?
Oakmont at Gordon Park's concierge desk is manned between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. All visitors all required to sign in and out indicating what resident that they are visiting at that time. Residents also sign in and out as they come and go and if they are away overnight they fill out an away form so that staff is always aware of where they are. The front doors lock at 8:00 p.m. and after that time visitors must pick up a phone in the foyer for a nurse to answer to come and physically allow them access to the building. Family members have access 24/7 to the community. After 8:00 p.m. a nurse answers the concierge phone to ensure that family members can check on their loved ones.

Oakmont at Gordon Park has a monthly newsletter, as well as weekly menus and activity calendars that family members can request be sent to them on a monthly basis.

Oakmont at Gordon Park is an extremely pet friendly community. We believe pets are important family members to the residents. There are certain restrictions that apply such as weight limit and the pets must be contained on a leash throughout the community to ensure safety for all. We have beautiful courtyards for pets to play and roam along with stationed pet stations for clean up. There is a one time deposit for a pet and we also offer a pet program if the resident needs assistance meeting the needs of their pet.

Oakmont at Gordon Park works closely with our area agencies for staff training on various concerns such as CPR, fall prevention along with flu prevention.

Oakmont at Gordon Park Memory Care community that offers secure assess and departure for our residents residing within the community. There is only passcode assess that accompanies an alarm system that ensures the safety of our residents residing within.

Oakmont at Gordon Park is nestled within the beautiful southwest Virginia mountains, located right off the city's main street. It is named Oak-mont because of our two large gorgeous oaks on campus and Virginia Intermont, meaning in between the mountains. The location is perfect due to the close proximity to shopping, medical facilities and professional offices, yet quiet and secluded.
