I am currently at Pottstown Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The staff is pretty nice. There are three meals a day. The food is fairly plain, not that great. We have bingo, you get your nails done, and they can do your hair. They have all kinds of things you can do. They have a little gazebo-type thing.

My loved one was at Pottstown Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The things I liked least about them were the inconsistency of care and the lack of knowledge. They're not friendly, too. No scheduled doctor visits with family. The main doctor that's the contact there, nobody ever sees him. If they don't have something for the room or something for the bed, they don't have the equipment for that. And if they do, it takes a while for it to show up. As far as the social care workers, the ladies in the office that are the go-between the patient's family and the health care staff (the PT and all the other staff), they were excellent. They were quick, and they replied. You could tell they care about their job. They were genuinely nice. Even if they didn't like you, they were still kind. They seemed to do their job very well, but they're not the ones who have to care for the patients. They need to improve on training their staff, to have better communication skills, to have awareness of roles and responsibilities, and that the roles and responsibilities communicated to the family and the staff. They also need to have proper equipment, better checks and balances from the supervisor to the staff, and bonuses and incentives for those who go above and beyond. Better cleaning of the facility and better personal cleaning of the patients. At one time, people weren't able to get into the shower because they had it locked. No use of personal cell phones in open areas or behind the nurse's desk. If a family member asks a question, and you're on the cell phone and you say you're busy, it doesn't look like you're busy. At times I've come in and they say they're busy, but they're just scrolling. So if they want to be on the phone and they're on 15-minute breaks, no problem.

ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (Pottstown) has excellent rehab staff. The food and nursing staff could use improvement, but my friend has already made great strides since being here, and he likes both his occupational and physical therapist. He's made good improvements in just the two weeks of working with them. He is in a shared room. They have a daily activity once a day and they have a printed calendar of all the activities. They had a nice bake sale for the residents, a special Thanksgiving meal that they can invite someone to come, trips to Walmart on another day, and some bingo.
