    I visited this facility

This facility is horrible. The mice are dancing around the residents feet in dining room. My family member had an unexplained black eye and gash on her forehead when I went to visit. This place should be shut down and the employees need to be arrested.

I didn’t like Germantown Home too much. When you first walk in, it smells like a nursing home. The patients who lived there were fine, but the employees, to me, weren’t too kind. From what I’ve seen, a lot of the patients didn’t attend the activities, like arts and crafts and bingo.

I wouldn't send a dog to this place. Medical negligence. Mice and roaches. They leave the residents and their rooms unkempt and the nurses talk to them very rudely - especially if you're one of the residents whose family hardly visits. Not an impersonal environment at all. If I could give them zero stars I would.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My friend was in Germantown Home, and I think he was doing very well until they sent him home. They just said his 20 days were up, and they felt that he could manage alone. But he was pretty well satisfied with the people who were working with him. Once before, he had a couple of really mean people, and he didn't like them at all, but once he got a couple of nicer people, then he was much better and more motivated to work with them. The room was fine. There was no problem with it because he doesn't have much stuff, so he didn't that much space, and he was supposed to just lie down on the bed except for therapy. They had a list of activities up on the wall. He would like some kind of music because he was a musician and singer before, and the only thing I saw in the whole month about music was some kind of a lecture about music appreciation. That isn't really what he needs; he needs something more active where he could participate. The other things they had didn't sound too interesting for him either. They had something every day, but it wasn't his kind of thing. A few of the staff members were pretty nice, and then the others were not. He had a lot of problems with the nurses' aides trying to keep him washed all the time because they were very rough and were hurting them, and they had to do that like every day -- sometimes more than once a day -- because he has a problem with getting to the bathroom, so the problem sets in because he couldn't get up and walk to the bathroom until somebody came. And they didn't show up, so he always complains about these places not coming when you call them. By the time they get to him, it's too late, and he's already messed up the bed and everything. That was happening almost every time.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother is in Germantown Home. I chose this nursing home because, when I went there, I saw that their service was good, the communication was good, and the environment was friendly. It is an awesome place. I found the staff to be very manageable. When I ask a question, they respond quickly. My mother has no problem with them and everybody likes her. As far as accommodations, there are two persons in one room, but my mother is okay with it. At least she has somebody she can talk to there. Regarding food, if something is served that she doesn't like, it is taken back and they would bring in something that she likes. She could always make that request. That's what I like about their food service.
