"My mother is here. We chose it because it was a beautiful place, like a resort. It's very nice. She gets assistance with bathing. Her medication is given to her, so she doesn't have to worry about her own schedule. The staff is very helpful. I don't see everything that they do, but my mother likes it there. She doesn't get involved in them, but they have all kinds of activities. They have people come in and entertain. They have games. They have happy hour, and they have a theater. The facility is very clean and homey. They don't take any kind of Medicaid, so I'm running out of money really fast. They take people out on excursions and shopping trips. They have a mini bus to take them out like to lunch. It's good for anybody who can afford to live there."

"Renaissance Home Northampton was a good place. It's more for a single person than a married couple. It's rather small for married people. The service was excellent. Most of the amenities are there. The staff members were very helpful. They were very good. The facility was very clean. The layout was nice. I like the fact that it was very close to where we are now, so some of my family could come and visit. They had a very nice lunch. They are getting nutritious food. There was no sign of it being a nursing home at all. There was no smell."

"The staff at Phoebe Home was very nice. They didn’t try to push me into getting it, that’s what a lot of them do; they left it up to me. They didn’t rush me at all and they answered any questions I had. It could have been a little better but I can’t complain because they were helpful when they can be. They’re so busy sometimes you didn’t get the attention that you really needed, but they were pretty good. I was really happy with them. The place is clean all the time. They’re always doing some sort of cleaning - mopping the floor, cleaning windows. It has a cheery environment and they’re so nice to the residents; anything they need, they help them right away. I like that about them and they listen. They have all of activities there. One day, they put them on a bus and off they went to see a movie. The residents were thrilled that they could get out of there for a while and go watch a movie. They do have bible studies too. "

"They are fabulous. It is a great place. I am so glad that we took mom there. They are very caring, she is safe and happy, and they are great people. The food is wonderful; it is all homemade."

"My sister moved up to Phoebe Richland Community. It was very welcoming. They gave her all the physical therapy she could handle, which was great. She had physical therapy almost every day and occupational therapy almost every day when she got there. She still gets it quite frequently. The staff is very nice. She enjoys the other residents there. She says she has a wonderful time getting to know them and they're very caring also. I was there one Saturday when the director himself was helping someone move into their memory care area. He was moving the clothing and stuff in himself on a Saturday. They're just delightful. There's an exercise class of some kind every morning, wheelchair volleyball, chair, or tai-chi. There's at least one activity every morning and one or two activities every afternoon. Every day I call or when I talk to my sister, she'll say, "Oh yes, we had an exercise this morning." It's a smaller place, so they can't offer the diversity of activities that a larger facility might offer. The assisted living has a beautiful lounge area when you walk in. The dining room is lovely. You couldn't ask for anything better. I get no complaints from my sister except there's no salt, but she can bring some herself. That's for health reasons. I saw two small library reading areas, a game room, a big lounge, and a dining room. She's in a temporary room right now because there were no rooms available, so it's a little small but very nice and furnished. It has a dresser, a wardrobe, a chair, a bed, a little kitchenette, and a beautiful bathroom that's handicapped accessible. It is less expensive than others for definitely something better. Their staff is especially caring. This place is much more consistent with their staffing, which means the staff gets to know their people better."

"Atrium of Allentown was the newest facility we saw. It wasn't quite full. It was bright and shiny. Everything was clean. They had a very nice, enclosed courtyard. They seemed to have a very good schedule for the residents. They had facilities, doctors that were on call, hairdressers, and things like that. The thing that impressed us most was the newness. Also, the staff that took us around knew the facility."

"When families are compelled by circumstances to seek care and safety for their loved ones in facilities such as Heather Glen, well, we are consumed by many memories and emotions. It’s unavoidable. But Heather Glen’s staff and facilities bridge that gap between our love for our family member and our diminishing ability to provide for the care and comfort we want our loved one to have. The private rooms are spacious and always clean. The ambience in the “general areas” is inviting and comfortable. The staff responds quickly to a family’s thoughts and concerns. HG provides transportation to doctors for the residents, which is an essential need for our family member. The transitioning of our loved one’s care and safety to HG is still a difficult proposition today. HG cannot undue what nature and nature’s God has brought forth, but we are comfortable and thankful for the gentle care and constant attention this facility provides its residents."

"I had a very good experience visiting The Willow. It's a newer facility. All the rooms were very nice. The living atmosphere was very friendly. Everybody seemed to be happy there. I saw one or two people in the hallway and they stopped to chat."

"I toured The Palmerton and it's assisted living, and I would consider it as a good choice with my father's continued improvement. They have a good staff-to-patient ratio. I was able to tour and look at the rooms, and their rooms are very adequate, a nice size, and updated. I was able to talk with the staff and I was introduced to each staff member that was on duty; that included the physical therapist, the dietitian, and the arts and crafts woman. They also have beautiful grounds. There is a very nice view upstairs on the second floor where you could go outside in a shaded area with rocking chairs on a cul-de-sac. It is a nice, quiet area. I think the staff said that they are able to choose two items at each meal and they have a dietitian on staff that they can work with. The dining is, I believe, on the third floor, and so they would have to get up to the third floor by elevator. They can also assist somebody to get up to the third floor if they need it. It's very nice. It's a slightly smaller facility, so I think they can spend more attention to each."

"My friend and I are trying to help an elderly friend who has cancer to get into assisted living, but he felt more independent and was not ready to go into assisted living. Spring Village was very nice, and the people were wonderful; they went out of their way to help. They showed us a private room, but it was too expensive; it was something like $4500, so the individual could not afford that. They showed us a room with someone in it -- which was $2500. "

"The tour at Penn Assisted Care was OK. I was not impressed with the facility, and I would not put my brother there. It's further from where I live, and I don't feel that it was as clean or as conducive to what I saw at the other place."

"Cornerstone Living is clean. The rooms are very nice and very individualized. The staff is very friendly, very professional, and very helpful."

"I went to Bentley Commons at Paragon Village. Their independent living facility was in one building and their assisted living was in another. They're completely separate there. The independent building was great, and the assisted living reminded us a little bit more of a nursing home. The independent living rooms were very nice, probably the nicest and the biggest out of all that we saw."
