My wife is at River Oaks - an Anthem Memory Care Community. They got a new director in July and things have been getting better since she got there. The caregivers that weren't that good are gone. There's good caregivers there now, both day and night. They have a good nursing staff now, too. Their activities people are good. The food is good. My wife's room is furnished with a bed and a nightstand, and it's carpeted (the whole facility's carpeted, except the dining areas). The bathrooms are nice. The room is a nice size. They have their own individual air conditioning unit in each room.

The whole River Oaks building was designed for memory care. I was very impressed with the wide aisles, the feeling of lightness in there, and the beautiful gardens that they had. Everything just seemed homey. They would allow my husband to be free and use his wheelchair and pedal around. I liked everything about it. The rooms were gorgeous, they were not at all like the hospital rooms or anything like that. I just absolutely loved it and we felt like we don't have to look further. I was also very impressed with all of the staff that I met. I like that they weren't locked in their rooms with their heads hanging down. They were outside, they were all over the building doing whatever they wanted to do, and they were doing crafts when I was there. I've been in nursing homes where everybody just sits in the hall with their head down and they weren't doing that. The facility is absolutely beautiful, it was completely new. I'm impressed with the way that the whole place was designed for people with memory care. They had everything.
