"I'm here right now at The Medical Resort with my wife. She had a stroke and been in a hospital bed and recovering. My insurance made a contract with this resort to put her over here because she had a bad wound on her bottom end, and it seemed better now. They have a spa here, a huge weight room, and an exercise room with rehabilitative personnel to work with the patients. Some of the rooms are individual, some are semi-private, and they have their own bathroom, TV, and closet. They have a really good staff here. I had a little problem with them once, but not much. They've been great here as far as taking care of things. As far as I am concerned, it is pretty good food. The only problem is they serve the same thing at night that they have at lunch. Sometimes, there's not quite enough CNAs, but the employees overall seem to be happy and satisfied with what they're doing, and they've done really well in hiring people who are genuinely involved in taking care of their patients. "

"I’ve found The Courtyards for my mom. She has dementia, and it took a while, but it settled in. It’s clean, and the staff is very good. It is more like a hospital setting. We’re pleased with them. "

"The facility seemed very well maintained and the staff seemed caring and attentive to the needs of the residents. In my interactions with the elderly, most seemed as content as one can possible be in such a situation. They enjoyed each others company, and always seemed delighted when my peers and I would walk in to entertain them for a while. "

"I love the staff. They have proved repeatedly that they genuinely care about the residents. Rooms are a bit cramped for visiting. Mom complains of mediocre food, I think this is a universal truth of all homes. "

"San Jacinto Manor is very close to my home. Although they don’t specialize in Alzheimer’s facility, they are very well up-to-date in Alzheimer’s care, and they have meetings and reviews with the people every week. "

"During my visit to Park Manor of South Belt I noticed how clean it is and how friendly everybody is. The staff is very polite, and very knowledgeable about what I need to do, and what I need to have. I had my uncle there, and care was excellent. I went around the clock to see him; to make sure they were taking good care of him, and no matter what time I went, they were all excellent. They took very good care of him. The dining area is very clean; they set out napkins, the silverwares are all lined up for them to come and eat; it was very clean. That place is recommendable because of the services they gave my uncle. Before they did anything with him, before they decided to do anything, they have always called me and they would say, "Do you want us to do this, do you want us to do that, Is that okay if we do this?" They would always call me first to make sure it was alright with us. "

"We had a few minor issues the first few days, but the case worker Kristen went above and beyond to ensure that my Aunt had everything she needed. She even set up all of the equipment and therapy at home so I didn't have to worry. Very smooth process. The lady in activities (sorry I forgot her name) was so wonderful and always encouraged her to join bingo and other events. Nurse Mona and Rane were wonderful. I recommend Clear Brook highly for your loved one. "

"Unless this is the last place taking residents, please go somewhere else. Upon visiting everything was presented as nice and happy patients, etc. Upon being admitted, staff were too lazy, uncommitted or whatever you can think of to help the residents. There was plenty of staff sitting around doing nothing. My relative fell and needed stitches but they refused to seek medical assistance. It took them 13 hours to get around to cleaning the wound needing stitches, and 3 hours to get a glass of water for the patient. Keep looking! "

"After looking at other facilities, our family chose to put my mother in Afton Oaks - it was the cleanest facility we had looked at, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. My mother has been there for years. Perfect? No, every facility will have its pimples, but on the whole, my mother has been well care for. The administration has been responsive to mine and mom's needs, when problems have been brought to their attention. My family has been difficult to deal with at times, and they have dealt patiently with the situation. Mom has consented to allow my sisters to take over her care and they have chosen to move Mom to a different facility, where they have more control. My mother slipped off her bed in January, suffering a broken arm, and the resulting trauma almost killed her. We entered her into a hospice program, and when one of her nurses returned from an illness and found this out, she was devastated and I had to comfort her in the hallway. She had just gotten in my mother's face (literally, because Mom is pretty much blind and very hard of hearing) and encouraging her to get better. Seeing how close she had gotten to my mother touched me, and she isn't the only one who's going to miss Mom when she is moved soon. The administration, as I said, has always been helpful to me in handling her affairs. The staff has been, for the most part, attentive. The Dean of Nursing is an absolute animal about preventing bedsores; despite Mom's inability to move much, she has not had a single sore or pressure wound. The DON actually came to visit my mother in the hospital, after her shift. She fed Mom, visited with her, and together we inspected Mom and found several pressure wounds threatening to becomes open bed sores. She wasn't required to do this. Mom was also visited by her occupational therapist from Afton Oaks. "

"My mother stayed at Ignite Medical Resort Webster in December. We liked the place pretty well. They were attentive to her, and she liked the people. The only issue she had there was that even though they would ask her every morning what she wanted for every meal, she seldom actually got what she asked for, but she didn't want to bring it to anybody's attention. A lot of times, the food was cold by the time it would get to her. The building was very nice and seemed like it was recently remodeled. The rooms were all private, so that was nice. The bathrooms were accessible even to somebody in a wheelchair. They had a nice recliner chair that one of us was allowed to sleep in at night. So, you could have somebody stay with you the whole time you're there. The staff was good. Pretty much any time we would call them, they would come in pretty quickly. We were there right around Christmas, so it was a little bit hard to get hold of people that were in charge of things. I did try once to get hold of somebody that was in charge of the dietary stuff. And I got a recording and nobody ever called me back. I was trying to get hold of a caseworker and they sent me to somebody's voicemail, left a message, didn't hear back, and tried calling somebody else, and her recording said that she was off until the first of the year. The front desk didn't seem to be very good at getting hold of people that were in charge of things. But the nursing staff was good. She had PT and OT while she was there, and those people seemed to be good, too."

"I wouldn’t take mother back to ManorCare Health Services. The place was a dump. Everything is broken, and it’s in horrible repair. You had to bang on the light to get it to come on. The dining area was horrible; the residents in assisted and the ones that could go in by themselves all ate in one area. It was horrible food, horrible service, and a horrible atmosphere. It was $1500 a month more than where she’s at now, but I did like her doctor. She was there a long time, long enough to be dropped by her insurance. I got a prescription bill for $2300 for one month, and they didn’t advise me that I needed to get her on Medicare. Never was there a care plan meeting. They moved her to another wing where there was no therapy, and while she was there, she got pneumonia again. The a/c could not be controlled; it was too cold. I went back a week later. She was still in that room freezing to death. I was freezing to death, and after a fit, they moved her. "

"The staff are all very friendly and smiling. There is no odor when you walk in the front door.They have a really nice dining area and the nurses are all very attentive to my mothers needs. The floors are clean not like alot of other places we visited before coming here. My mom is still there for rehab, but we are hoping she can come home soon. She is doing a lot better and they take way better care of her there than the staff at the hospitakl did! "

"My mother-in-law had been in Kindred Rehab at Clear Lake. The place was excellent, clean, and very orderly. I liked the staff. The food smelled and looked good; she hated it, but I have yet to see her like the food in any hospital, and she has been in a lot. "
