"I was in Renaissance. The physician and occupational therapies were excellent. The room was nice but kind of dusty, but I guess they were redoing it. They had activities throughout the whole day, like puzzles and building Santa's house. "

"Woodland was a beautiful place. They had apartments and cottages. They were lovely. Apparently, it was adequate for everybody who lived there. The residents were charming people and they were friendly. The staff was excellent. All of them were very friendly and eager to give you information that was necessary to help you when you move. We had a meal there and the food was just lovely. The dining facility was beautiful. It was like going to a luxury hotel. They had basically the same type of activities and you could participate on what interests you. They had arts, music, movies, and lectures you could go. I would recommend them to others as they had the best features for everybody that was living there. However, you had to put money down and we do not want to put down a large amount of money. "

"My dad was in Lutheran Care Center at Concord Village out in Poughkeepsie. They took care of my dad for the last two years of his life and they were wonderful with him. He had hospice care and he passed in July. He didn't have hospice care when he first got there, but he ended up in hospice care for the last month and a half of his life. In between the hospice care and the staff at Lutheran, everybody was just wonderful. The meals were kind of like nursing home food. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't say it was great. The facility was kind of dated but it was always clean and the layout was fine. They also offered activities for my dad and they were wonderful. "

"The rooms are very clean in the four years that my father lived there. The food was prepared with a great deal of thought for each individual resident. My father could not chew easily for the last two years of his life even though they tried with outside professional dental help. But, they always made sure he had variety and nutritious meals they were built around what he could eat. I can't not stress enough that this modern Nursing Home, set in the most beautiful New York country area, is one of the best I've ever seen. None of them have perfection but, they will work on problem areas and they really care!"

"I'm now at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at River Valley. I don't like it. I'm healthy now; I got to get out of here. There are no activities. There's nothing new. I have a roommate, and I can't talk too loud now because he yells. We don't go out at all. They don't have a courtyard."

"My mother is in The Mountain View Nursing & Rehab Center right now. They’re very professional. A lot of different specialists, like the geriatrics doctor, the occupational therapist, and the head nurse, have all come to see her, take statistics on her, and get her set up for some rehabilitation so she can get back to who she was and come back here in a month or so. This community was one of the top-rated ones. It was a coincidence that one of my best friends is the head nurse there. She’s an excellent nurse who's very professional, knowledgeable. I’ve always heard what a good job they do there. For a nursing home, the place is very updated and has a nice feeling to it. The facility itself is a little old, but they keep it nice, bright, and very clean. You don’t get the sense that it’s old and tired. The staff is very attentive and excellent, which I think is why they get such a good rating. "

"I went to The FASNY Firemen's Home. It's more of a skilled nursing facility and my aunt is not ready for that yet and that's a lot more expensive. It was originally started for retired firemen. It was a very good experience. The problem with that place is there's a waiting list. It's like 9-12 months to get in. I like the location, the care, it's small, and the staff. I didn't check out the food, but I've known other people that have sent their loved ones there and they loved it as well. The staff was very friendly and very informative. The building was very nice. It's been remodeled, so it's nice and clean. The outdoor was nice. It's in a very nice setting and The Firemen's Museum is attached to it, so a lot of people visit there. They're very accommodating."

"Elant at Wappingers Falls is a wonderful facility that has been nothing but hospitable to my grandmother. It is spacious, cozy, and offers the elderly a dignified life despite sacrificing their independence. The staff is exemplary. My experience with them has been brief, but even in my short stays at Elant they have tried to accommodate me to the best of their ability. My grandmother tells me this is nothing out of the ordinary. She claims that they are almost excessively attentive and she is never left wanting something for very long. It doesn't hurt that the premises is gorgeous, either. It is located in the heart of the village of Wappingers and features beautiful landscaping and an immaculate building. Everything inside is very clean and orderly, and the rooms are quite comfortable. Again, my experience with Elant has been fleeting yet positive, but I know my grandmother would not hesitate to recommend Elant at Wappingers to anyone in the area who is considering an assisted-living facility. "

"My paternal Grandmother spent the last three years at her life at Nobel Horizons. Living just up the street, I visited her often and overall, found it quite favorable. The campus was stunning. The grounds consisted of several acres, beautiful sculptures and landscaping, as well as three different living options. Along the boarder of Nobel were the solo living mini houses. Each house had its own porch and entry, as well as a small one car garage. The facility itself consisted of a ward for the patients in need of more daily attention, and a smaller more intensive ward at the north end. The dining situation was above par, and whenever I visited my grandmother, we were set up in a beautiful private dining area to have a private visit for no additional cost. Nobel often held holiday parties from Halloween to a noon New Year celebration. The only big problems I had with this place was the lack of sincere care from the nurses (which is to be expected and why I made an effort to visit as often as possible), and the lack of gym facilities where my grandmother could have lightly exercised when she wanted. "
