"My mother-in-law has moved into The Terraces at Brookmeade. We visited a few others, but we liked this one. It's small, the people are very caring, and it's assisted living, which includes memory care of some sort. We've been very pleased. We also live very close to it, so that was another factor. The food is very good, but they repeat the same thing. Older people don't like to make choices, so they always get what's served and it gets monotonous, but it's still good. The activities are not bad, but not great. They have a bus trip that goes to the supermarket or something. They have a beauty shop. The Baptist Home is the nursing home, which is also right next door and my mother-in-law is receiving physical therapy there. She has a one-bedroom with a little kitchenette, a microwave, and a refrigerator, a fairly large living room, a bedroom, and a very large bathroom with her own walk-in shower, and a huge walk-in closet as well as a large coat closet. She gets personal laundry service once a week and they have regular home-sized laundry so that only her clothes are done in the washing machine and dryer at one time. It's not mixed in, in those humongous machines. She gets trash done at least once a day and vacuuming and basic stuff once a week. If something else is needed, it's taken care of, and they take care of her medication."

"Baptist Home is very nice. They have an excellent memory care program, and they have a different approach towards Alzheimer's, which was nice. The cost is high though. The staff is very knowledgeable, very friendly, and excited about their program, and they're very nice. It's a little bit of an older establishment, but the rooms are very nice. They have similar activities as other facilities. "

"My mom has lived at Island View for many years. It is a nurturing, caring, very personable home. The staff literally treated my mom like family, and would include her in their festivities whether it was Christmas, Easter or someone’s birthday. There are such sweet animals, both cats and dogs that always helped cheer mom up. She also absolutely loved being around the grandchildren that would visit, the joy it brought her helped pull her out of her depression she was in before living there. It is also such a unique place as the owners actually live there and got to know my mom so well and could anticipate her needs and were always so accommodating to her. She started doing things she hadn’t done in years, like crocheting, making cards, painting, and walking around the beautiful property on the creek. She also formed wonderful friendships with the other residents. They helped her with all of her needs, as well as encouraging her independence as much as possible. It was such a gift to find this hidden gem in the Hudson Valley."

"The staff there is very friendly and willing to help out the residents in that facility. They are willing to hire those that want to learn and have a desire to help others out. There are different buildings for different types of needs and counseling which is very convenient. I also believe everything there is gender separated. There is a large variety of staff, that has a lot of knowledge in the field of special needs and assisted living. The employees go through a lot of training and understand the life of the residents to the best of their abilities, which is astonishing. If you are considering an assisted living facility within the Dutchess Country area, located in upstate New York this would be a great place to visit and do some research on. They have strict guild lines which are adhered to, but are willing to make changes to accommodate the residents of their facilities. Hats off to the Deveraux Foundation on a job well done! "

"My mom has been at Valley Vista for a year now. Her room is bright and cheerful. The bathroom is large enough for a walker and the shower and toilet is handicapped accessible. All the people that work at Valley Vista have the residents best interest in mind. My mom loves to interact with everyone there. There have been several monthly activities that have been very creative and fun. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and residents can walk to the pond with all the baby geese and beautiful fountain. "

"I visited this assisted living center when my great Aunt was living here. She got sick around the age of 60 and lived there for nearly 10 years before finally passing. The facility itself is very well kept from the outside. Gardens, paths, and fields surround the building with ample parking up front. Upon entering the lobby is spacious and inviting. The front desk help, however, have never been too particularly friendly. Not once while I visited did they greet myself or my family. Inside amenities for residents were plentiful and offered many different activities. Bingo was a hugely popular event and I even participated a couple times myself. As a whole, the inside of the building was kept in decent shape, but seemed to be a little bit older and needed some visual upgrades to see more modern looking. The rest of the staff was basically seen but not heard until a resident requested it. However, that did leave time for families to interact in private. There were many different opportunities for residents to interact with each other, other than bingo that is. Groups of different interests were apparent and jigsaw puzzles always brought them together. Overall, it was a very decent quality place for those living there. "

"This where my 91 yr. old Mother resides she is very happy there and myself and my sister are very happy with this place Mom is well taken care of and the staff is very pleasent and kind to us and to her . The owner of the home is friendly and always willing to go the extra mile if needed "

"My mom moved into the assisted living area at The Landing of Poughkeepsie last September, and my dad was in the memory care unit. It's a beautiful facility. They're short-staffed since the staff has dwindled over the past six months. It's getting a little bit better again for assisted living people, but the memory care unit is very understaffed right now. My mom's room is very nice, like a small studio apartment with a mini kitchen, eating area, a nice area for a bed and a TV, and a large bathroom to go along with that. The food was pretty good, but my mom complains every once in a while about it. They've got a considerable amount of activities like arts and crafts, yoga, exercise, and musicians who play in the common area. They also have wine tasting in the afternoons."

"I looked at their converted fine house. The rooms and everything looked good. One downfall though is that they don't have a nurse. The doctor only comes once every two weeks. The residents here are really independent. They are their own person and have the freedom to move around as opposed to being confined. "

"I visited a place called Home Sweet Home on the Hudson and toured the assisted living. It's on a cliff above the Hudson River so you can see it from there. I toured the entire place and they have a very nice dining room with enough space for everybody. They have enough caretakers, too. They also had a place where people could go and do arts and crafts. The terrain was very nice. It was very quiet and seemingly rural, but if you had a way to get into town, you could do it. Each person has their room. The room I saw had a TV, a small refrigerator, a bed, and a window. Right next to it was an entrance to a bathroom but I can't remember if it's a half or a full bath. There was also another room on the other side of the bathroom. I don't know if all the rooms were like that but that was fantastic and I was very impressed. I wouldn't say the room was spacious but it was fine. The place was very nice, the people spoke well, and it was clean. The people I saw were decently dressed, and the food was fairly good. If I could snap my fingers and transfer my friend there, she would be a happy camper."

"I placed a very dear friend of mine at the Eliot because it was close to my house. What I was hoping for was caring employees that made this transition an easy one. I have never met more caring nurses as the Eliot Staff. They help her in the morning to get dressed when I cant be there and always stop in her room to see if she would be interested in any activities. They call her "beautifiul" everytime they drop off medication which truly brightens her day. It's the little things in life that are appreciated when you get older that we overlook at a young age. The staff have certainly gone out of their way to make this life a better life for my friend. Strongly recommend to anyone who needs that extra care. "
