"We had been to The Fountains at Millbrook and it was an absolutely wonderful place. It had so much to offer, and it was fantastic. The only negative I had was that it was an hour and a half away from my children, and we lived an hour and forty five minutes away from them now. I had been hoping to be closer to them, because both of us were elderly. Ruthie was an absolutely incredible woman. We had been chatting back and forth for several years now as we tried and made decision with the house. We would prefer to have a two-bedroom and two-bath unit, and I thought their rooms were wonderful. I was sure that it would be adequate. We had been to their programs, we had meals with them, and the food was very good. The dining area was cheery and bright. From the time we started going there until now, they had redone the whole dining room. They had a fantastic art room and they people came in to give lessons from time to time. They had knitting, crocheting, and beading. They had programs that you could partake in outside the facility. The bus would pick you up and take you them. Everything about it was beautiful. "

"I just moved into Senior Horizons at Newburgh. They don't serve food here. This place is very well-kept. I have a one-bedroom. It's medium size. They have a door code system in terms of security. Everybody is very friendly here. They have bingo. They have an exercise room and another room where you can go and have parties. I haven't done any activities here so far. Regarding value for money, it's the most reasonable price I came across."

"Mountain Valley Manor is the perfect home for my mother-in-law who is 93 years old. The facility is bright, cheery, and well laid out. The caregivers are kind and careful and give her the extra help she needs. The food is excellent. I appreciate the policy of allowing family members and friends to join a resident for a meal on 1 day notice. A very homelike atmosphere here with the owner/operators on site. My MIL is very content and safe here! "

"New Windsor Senior Housing is an apartment for seniors. Everything is near shopping and banks. It's nice. They showed me a one-bedroom apartment. It looks pretty nice. They have a community room if you want to gather or something. They have a laundry room, a sitting room, a reading room, a media room, and things like that. It looked very clean."

"I've moved to Red Hook Commons. They have a movie night, and they have a library that we can go and use. We cook our own food, there are almost 20 apartments here and everyone does for themselves. Some have wheelchairs and some have walkers. The staff is very friendly and nice, they keep up with everything. The foreman is very helpful and he does his job well. One of the residents likes taking care of the flowers and trees around the area so he does that in his spare time. As far as I know, there are only two activities. They have a veterinarian close by, and they allow small dogs here. There's also a library nearby, there's an ice cream place near here, and a grocery store, and it's not too far from the hospital. So it has everything."

"The Plaza at Clover Lake is a large facility. The other two we visited had about a capacity of 100. This one had a capacity of 175, and it was newer. It was only built in the year 2000. The rooms were larger and nice, but it was out of the way for us. It was quite remote. You really couldn't go out and have lunch easily or anything, but the facility itself was very nice. It was on three levels and they had elevators. They had a little bit more structured requirements for mobility. My husband is in a wheelchair generally, and I think they wanted him to be able to walk with a walker. He can walk with a walker, but he has a fear of falling at that point. He doesn't have good balance, so I think he's better off in the wheelchair. They were a little more stringent on that. They had a refrigerator in the room and little cabinets above it. It had a counter where they had the refrigerator underneath it, and the microwave could go on top and so forth, and there was a sink there. It was a little more modern. The bathrooms were also a little more modern. The person that took me around was very good. They would provide the furniture, so that was a plus. The thing I didn't care for was it was a little larger, and it seemed a little less personal. My husband said it feels like a hotel. It's fancier, and there's a big living area when you came in. It was modern and very nice. I won't say anything negative about it, but it was a little more impersonal. They accept community Medicaid, but not full Medicaid. They had a very nice outdoor area at the back. It was a big, open, sunny area, and you could overlook a pond or something that was further out because it was quite a large area. The place was on 50 acres. It was a little remote. It was removed from everything else, but it was very pretty and picturesque looking out to nature. It was new, modern, and very up-to-date. I had walked in unannounced. I had spoken to them earlier and made an appointment with them. Then, I had to cancel the appointment because I had another obligation. I came by later on another day and I just walked in, and while the person I would have normally spoken to was busy and doing an intake on somebody new who was moving in, they did provide somebody to show me around and gave me a tour. The woman who I saw, later on, gave me another tour, so they were very accommodating in that respect."

"My mother and I have been to Chestnut Grove to visit some of her friends, and it was nice. The attendants and the residents there were very nice, too. Everything was very homey, and if you need to go to the doctor's office or go shopping, they'd take you there. It's like you have your own little apartment there. You make your own breakfast and lunch, and they serve you supper. The facility was very comfortable. There were no stairs or anything like that. It was open. They had entertainment, and there were people who came in to do crafts with you if you wanted to. You have to clean your own apartment and do your own laundry. You can do that by hiring or getting someone from your family who can do it for you since they don't offer those services. It's also in a nice location. It was in the country, but it wasn't too far out of town. They were friendly, as were the people who wanted to encourage my mother to go there. The single apartment was kind of a small size, but it was nice, and if you have more money, you could have the second room so it would be a little bit bigger for you."

"I really liked Villa St. Francis. It was very clean and nice. Every floor had a living room and a kitchen. I liked the size of the bedrooms. It didn’t feel like you're in a nursing home. One thing I really liked about the place was the dining room. You didn’t have people waiting on you. You get your own lunch, and they have a great, big salad bar. I think it gave people a feeling of not being so dependent on other people. I would highly recommend this place to anybody. The place was absolutely gorgeous."
