"I thought everything at The Manor was good. I just had a walk-through, and it was maybe 15 or 20 minutes. The residents appeared to be happy. It was a bright atmosphere, and it looked like they keep the residents relatively busy, keeping their minds working. It looked like they strive to get the residents to communicate with each other, so relationships appear to be very big in the service they provide. People who go their brand spanking new, they apparently try to get them connected with others in the facility so they are not alone, and so that looked to be a big success. We really didn’t sample their meal, but it appeared that residents have choices of the standard meals or breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And then, if they just want to order off the cart, they can always go for hamburgers or something else. The meals were good. The rooms were small, and there was no cooking in the rooms. If they wanted to make their own meal to that effect, there was no ability to do that. They did have the microwave but no stove or anything like that. There was plenty of parking. It looked like there are some outings, and in addition to these outings are various events that they have. In terms of the prices, all of these facilities are very expensive, but this one seemed to be on the lower end in terms of price. "

We moved my dad from another well known and larger facility that I thought was giving him a good quality life but as his condition progressed they were unable to provide him with the level of care he required. "We have moved to Vineyard Commons senior community. It's the ideal place for us and it has whatever we need. They also have a restaurant and facilities like a swimming pool and exercise room so it meets our needs. There are a couple of things that I would improve but overall, we're pleased. We have very little need to contact the staff, only when there is something that needs to be fixed in the apartment. Like right now, we need to change a bulb in the bathroom and it doesn't seem to be a major thing, but it's not quite available so I'll be waiting for a couple of days before somebody comes up and tells me what kind of bulb to replace it with. They don't provide meals as it's completely independent living. They have a restaurant and you can order from there then pay for it. We very seldom use that option since we cook at home and we have a full-time aide that's here 12 hours a day, seven days a week. I've only tried the food from the restaurant a couple of times. We have the biggest apartment in the complex here, which is 1,700 square feet. It's just about right for us and we have no complaints about it. They have a whole lot of activities. They have games, movies, and socials. I've been to their Cinco de Mayo social and it was a successful one. It was at the restaurant, we paid a fee, we had food, and everybody was there so we got to say hello to some people. The value for the money is interesting though because they just raise the rent and they only give 13-month leases. I think we would want to see what other facilities are and how they compare because the rent here is getting very, very high. In another 13 months, that rent is going to go up again so it's getting to a point where it's expensive to live here."

"Lexington Club at Galleria was very good. It's tucked away on a very busy street. Route 9 is very busy, so you would never know this little place existed. I called it like a golden little nugget. The staff was businesslike. She wasn't very personable, but she answered all my questions. I'm a very friendly person, so it's difficult. That was just a little minus. The size of the rooms was average. It's not too big. It was very clean. They had a place where you could play pool or cards. They have a little kitchenette area in case you have family for dinner, but they don't serve food there. The reason why it was such a good place is because it's funded by the State, so it's reasonably priced more than most places but it has an income requirement. I didn't make it; I made too much."

"Woodland was a beautiful place. They had apartments and cottages. They were lovely. Apparently, it was adequate for everybody who lived there. The residents were charming people and they were friendly. The staff was excellent. All of them were very friendly and eager to give you information that was necessary to help you when you move. We had a meal there and the food was just lovely. The dining facility was beautiful. It was like going to a luxury hotel. They had basically the same type of activities and you could participate on what interests you. They had arts, music, movies, and lectures you could go. I would recommend them to others as they had the best features for everybody that was living there. However, you had to put money down and we do not want to put down a large amount of money. "
