It had a beautiful setting, about 60 miles from New York City near the very beautiful Hudson River Valley. "I can't say enough positive things about Vanduzer Family Type Home for Adults. That family was so caring. They were respectful and they helped my brother-in-law. The woman, Donna, who is the wife of that family, cooked just beyond belief. My brother-in-law was so happy with her cooking and her meals. We had hospice services come in and they were very welcome to work with them. It was like having a family. The room was perfect for him. There are four bedrooms and they're all about the same size. In addition to that, there was a wonderful living room and instead of a sofa, they had reclining chairs that were wonderful. The room had a TV and it had plenty of storage space for his things. It was great. It was. When we had the funeral of my brother-in-law, they came. Not only was there a beautiful indoor space, but they also had outdoor patios. The setting was so peaceful, especially in the fall. It was just beautiful. When he first moved in there, he said, "I'm going to be bored here." They only had a television there and there was another resident. My brother-in-law was an artist so we bought him some art supplies and he was content. I wouldn't say they have a lot of activities, but it's not that kind of a place and it was perfect for him. I would have paid them more. In fact, toward the end, he needed some additional care at night. So, they asked us if they could hire an aide to be with him at night and we agreed to that immediately because the care was so excellent. It was so priceless."

"I visited Mira Vie at West Milford a few weeks ago. It's closer to where I live. It's a very nice facility. The rooms are very nice and very spacious. They have a lot of activities for the seniors. She showed me the dining area and the game room. They seemed to keep their seniors pretty active. It's pretty expensive, but there are options where you can have an apartment suite that you share with someone else to reduce costs. They even have a daycare option. Let's say you're going on vacation, and you need someone to watch your loved one; they could take someone for up to 30 days. It's a short-term thing. So, that was good to know. The seniors I met there seemed like they were happy. They were engaged with one another doing activities. Some people were reading. Some people were playing cards. The facility is nice. The neighborhood is beautiful. The grounds, the campus, everything was very nice. The sample room she showed me had everything that was needed. It had a little kitchenette with a microwave and a sink. It was really nice and very clean. No odors and very well kept. The lady I spoke to actually lives in my town and works over there. The facilities are beautiful. The rooms are beautiful. Everything was very updated. Everyone was very friendly, very welcoming, and answered all my questions. They understood my concerns about my dad being in a safe place. They explained all the care services. Of course, the more care you need, the more it costs, but they pretty much provide everything that you could need. I didn't see any food, but I saw a menu, and it looked like a variety of different kinds of food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's very clean, very well decorated, and very well lit. Everything is accessible in the case of those who have wheelchairs. One of the exercise instructors came by and said hello. It was a very friendly staff. It seems like a very well-maintained facility."

"We toured Thrive at Montvale. We liked the amenities, and we liked the fact that it was very new and very fresh. It was very nice. The staff was great, and we enjoyed the tour. We liked their meal plan and the size of the facility. It was not too big and not too small. We liked the fact that they could move from independent to assisted living if they needed to. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, and they wanted to get to know my parents, which was good. The cleanliness was great. We liked the courtyard quite a bit. They had a garden room and a giant LEGO area for families to play in, and they had water features, but the units were a little bit on the small side. The atmosphere was vibrant, and we liked the setup, the layout, and the spaces."
