I'm now at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at River Valley. I don't like it. I'm healthy now; I got to get out of here. There are no activities. There's nothing new. I have a roommate, and I can't talk too loud now because he yells. We don't go out at all. They don't have a courtyard.

So I'm here now for rehab and upon arrival my sister had to clean the room!! Dirty windows! There was no phone no remote for the tv no guest chair and no tray.she went around and found these items which had to be cleaned! The meals are absolutely not for human consumption! Never whats on the ticket! My ticket says egg allergy and just this morning I received 2 hard boiled eggs!! Haven't been able to have a cup of coffee since I've been here. It's just gross!! NO ONE WEARS GLOVES!! BUT THEY HAVE BOXES HANGING ON ALL DOORS!! MEDS ARE GIVEN WITHOUT GLOVES-----GROSS!!!! They take your complaints but nothing gets done. I wouldn't suggest nor send a family member or a worst enemy to this place! WORST 2 WEEKS OF MY LIFE!! . Besides the fact that its costing me to eat everyday when family can't prepare meals for me...

Place smells, always understaffed especially on the weekends. Always a change in staff. Food is disgusting and cold for the most part. You never get what's on the menu list. When using call button it takes forever to answer, same with the front desk, it takes forever for them to answer or you're put on hold. PT staff should be a bit more aggressive and push their patients a little mor instead of holding conversations, exercise your patients that are there for rehab. Rooms can be cleaned better. So disgusted with the Grand at River Valley

Mom was at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at River Valley. The food tastes like dog food. She wouldn't touch it. It didn't even smell good and there was no choice. You got whatever they gave you. If it was oatmeal for breakfast, you got oatmeal for breakfast. They were supposed to provide her with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at every meal in case she didn't like what they had, but they didn't do that. They were supposed to give her an Ensure at every meal to fill up on protein, but they didn't do that. The facility looks like a hospital. Their housekeeping was horrible. She spilled Ensure on the table on Monday and on Wednesday, it was still all over the table. She never had any of her own clothing. They took her clothes to be washed, but they never got returned to her room. She's running around in a T-shirt and a pair of sweatpants because they could never find her clothes. When you call, they put you on hold until you get tired of staying on hold, and then you hang up. Nobody calls you back. You can't leave a message. It's like they shouldn't have a phone line at all. She went for physical therapy there, but they wouldn't push her. If my mother said no, the answer was no. No coaxing or working with her to get her to progress. That's why she couldn't go back to the assisted living program she was in before, because the rehab couldn't get her up and walking.

This rehab is horrible. I wouldn't allow my worst enemy to go here. Worst experience of my life! The food is gross, poor quality, and cold, it is never ever what is on the slip with your name on it. No accounting for your medical conditions when meals are prepared (it says on the slip). Nursing staff is either excellent or disinterested. All are overwhelmed. Wound care is hit or miss depending on the nurse on duty. (1 per floor) Day staff is supposed to do wound care often left for the evening nurse to do. Diapers are rarely changed, you are left for hours sitting in your own urine and feces. Ringing the bell gets you nothing. Bells are rarely answered and shut off at the front desk all the time, I was told this by numerous staff members. Showers are twice a week so I was told. Never had two showers in one week. PT/OT very limited but their staff was excellent in helping me to quickly get out of that horrible facility. Also arranged for the equipment I needed to leave with. Photos on the website are a joke. I never once saw a dining room as show, just a plastic tray brought into the room. Never once did I see a bedspread, the photos are all clearly staged. Rooms are dirty. Cabinets for your possessions are filthy. The extent of the activities I was offered was non existent. I was offered a newspaper to read once a day. Nothing else was offered. Everyone who works here is overwhelmed. Place is terribly understaffed with far too many people working double shifts REGULARLY. Do not consider this facility under any circumstances.
