"It is truly a difficult decision to have a parent reside in a Nursing Home instead of at home but sometimes there is no choice for the family based on their needs. I feel so incredibly grateful that my own mother was a resident at Dry Harbor Nursing Home since the summer of 2022 until her recent passing in March of 2024. In her final years my mother was on the tenth floor of Dry Harbor and was in absolute excellent care. The staff lead by Managing Nurse Tamara was hard working, dedicated, kind and patient with my mother putting my siblings and me at ease knowing our mom was in good hands. On my daily visits I asked questions and showed concern for my mother's health and spirits. Tamara, the managing nurse kept me posted on any new developments in my mother's health or any change in her overall well being. If she was unable to call herself for any reason she directed and left notes for other staff members to notify me of anything that seemed concerning. This gave me such peace of mind. Janet, Lucy, and Pauline just to name a few of the staff, I wish I could mention everyone, were absolute angels in my mother's life during her time in Dry Harbor. Zyrra the social worker was so sweetly kind and patient whenever I have needed her assistance and when reaching out to me in need of information or to provide me with information. Eva the dietician was always willing to try different foods that may help my mother continue eating as her tastes and appetite changed and diminished as her health declined. I went to the home right after a long day of work and considering my fatigue I always felt relieved to be greeted by the smiling faces of the reception staff. Their kindness was truly welcomed and appreciated. The employees of the business offices were also kind, patient and so helpful when it came to the task of filling out paperwork and securing insurance and such which we all know can be tedious but necessary. So overall my family and I were pleased by the care our mother received at Dry Harbor but personally I would like to address a special thank you to the tenth floor staff as they truly helped to give me peace of mind with the care my mother received in the final days of her life. To Lucy trying to help convince my mother ever so kindly to eat to keep her strength up and making sure she was comfortable and calm. To Janet for answering all of my questions as soon as I stepped off the elevator and always with patience, respect and empathy for my concern for my mother. Also for not hesitating to call the managing nurse whenever either she or I believed my mother needed specific attention or help. To Pauline the miraculous angel who called me the morning my mother passed because using the judgement of her experience and the mutual opinion of Tamara predicted that my mom may not survive that day. Their intuition and professional assessment was correct. I will always be grateful for that phone call in the morning that made it possible for my siblings and I to be with my mother at the moment of her death. That was a precious gift. My mother passed away and even after the staff at Dry Harbor continue to be kind and patient and helpful. Thanks to all the staff members that made the experience a little easier during a difficult time for our family."
