"Martin Luther Care has a nursing home, assisted living, memory care, TCU, and an adult day program. The TCU, which is the only place my grandfather has been, has been great. A little confusion happens during the weekends in the evenings, but other than that, we’ve had a pretty good experience with it. It’s very beautiful with a lot of trees outside, and the inside is pretty, well maintained, and clean. "

"My father is currently in this nursing home. He says that it is good, considering the circumstances and that he didn't want to be placed in it. He says that the staff is clean and attentive, and that he doesn't have to worry about his safety or money being taken from him. He knows that this is a problem at some other nursing homes. He keeps busy by watching tv, and the staff schedule weekly activities for the residents to partake in. For example, there is a weekly sewing circle, and sometimes there is bingo or dances led by local students. There is also a weekly chapel service that a resident leads, and he particularly enjoys this since he is devoutly catholic. The food is decent, but he really like when I bring him food from home. He wishes that visitation hours were longer and that he didn't have to wait so long to get his medication. "

"If a loved one has to go to a rehab or long-term care facility, there is nowhere they will get better care. The facility is wonderful. The grounds are beautiful. And the best part is the staff. My wonderful wife of 59 years recently passed away at Masonic. For the last five years she had been in and out of Masonic a great number of times. Late last year she was in transitional care, and finally was transferred to long-term. Neither of us could have coped with what she went through without the amazing people at Masonic. It is not just their competency. It is their loving kindness and care. They have my eternal thanks for what they did, and how they did it for Karen."

"I toured Benedictine Living Community-Regina. It's a very beautiful facility. The person who brought me to the room and showed it off was very nice and knowledgeable. The rooms are based on cost, and she showed me the least expensive one, which was very small. I mean, you could barely fit well. It was a studio, so that meant that your bed was the main piece of furniture. There was a small kitchenette, but that was it, and a bathroom, and a very small space. She didn't show me any alternative rooms. In other words, if you pay a little bit more money, what size of room would you get for the increase? I don't know whether she didn't have any to show or why she didn't, but the place itself was very clean and well-kept."

"We toured Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington. The experience was great. David, one of the representatives who took us around. My nephew came with me and I have COPD. He had a wheelchair available, so I had less walking around. The only place we didn't see was the dining room because they had a couple of cases of COVID, so they had that closed up. He took us around the facility which is done nicely. I liked the apartment that he showed me. It's not too big, very airy, sunny, and spacious. The one I saw overlooked a beautiful courtyard. The apartments are very pleasant. Each unit has stainless steel appliances, dishwashers, and a washer and dryer. It's a great place. They have different rooms like a craft room, and a woodworking shop if some of the men are interested. They have bingo night. They have a movie night. There's a cafe that you can go in. There's a general store where you can purchase some grocery items or whatever you might need, and it has a lot to offer."

"West Wind Village was like a small village with artificial flowers and trees along the hallways. Their rooms were single rooms mostly. I was there when when I had some hips replaced. I was very happy with it. The food was good but not excellent. The place was clean, and it didn't smell. I like the atmosphere. The staff was helpful and pleasant. They tried to do their best. Their therapy was excellent. They had retired musicians played music, and they had birthday parties. There were plenty of activities."

"My mother goes to Golden Living after she fell in the assisted living she used to stay in. She likes it in Golden Living so well, she did not want to go back to the assisted living. She loves the place. The nurses and the staff are outstanding. They are really good to her and they are wonderful. They give all the care that she needs. They give her hugs and talk to her. I can't explain how wonderful they are to her. The most important thing to me is that she is extremely happy and that she's being treated well. I am very happy that she is happy. She hasn't any complaints about the food. She has a shared room like any other nursing home, but we were able to pick a really cute room. They have everything there. They have rehab for people who come from the hospital. They treat people with dementia. They do crafts there and little things. "

"I visited Hastings Senior Health & Living to look at their independent living. The place seemed very friendly and open. They were getting ready for an event, so the people were gathering in the lobby area and it seemed like they were happy. It was also very nice, clean, and very nicely decorated. The person who assisted me was friendly but I thought she was a little absent-minded. The dining facility seemed small to me but it was also filled up with people who were getting ready for the event that day so I don't know for sure. They have entertainment that comes in frequently. Then, regularly, they have movies, arts and crafts, and things like that."

"Norris Square is the second one we put my husband's name on because it had that feeling of caring, and there were people that were actually doing things. They were not just sitting there staring. We saw a group of women playing some game with somebody, and they were laughing and having a good time. They knew everyone's name in their memory care. We really liked it. It was very comfortable and very welcoming. There were things for the people to do. The facility was very nice, all kept up, and modern. There were lots of rooms. The memory care people have their own places, which were very nice. It was clean, and it was up-to-date as far as being comfortable. It was roomy and not cramped feeling, and the staff who gave the tour was wonderful."

"My father was admitted to the TCU after an amputation. The nursing team did a good job with his wounds and ensuring that he recovered. I knew my dad would need long-term care afterwards, and the social services team did a great job coordinating that and informing me of the process as I was not fully aware of how it worked. I’m happy my father is in good hands at Woodlyn Heights."

"Richfield Care Center Nursing Home is a small facility, and the staff is really, really nice and attentive. It's more for short-term patients. The sanitation is very good. I like the fact that it is a small facility and there's not a whole lot of patients. "

"Having to find a nursing home for a loved one is never an easy decision or a decision that is easily accepted by the person needing the extra care that they need on a daily basis to not only survive but thrive as they get older in life. Add in a global pandemic and the choices and decisisions can be daunting at best and overwhelming at worst. My grandma and my uncle were past residents at the Inver Grove Heights Good Samaritan Society so I was already familiar with the layout and the rooms and the facility when it came time to find that next living situation for my mother last March. To me choosing a place with employees that truly care and enjoys not only what they do but who they take care of was top of my list and IGH-GS does exactly that. They truly treat their residents like family. I have witnessed my mother THRIVE under their care as well as make a whole slew of new friends!! Neither of those would have happened if she had been where she was previously! She is even to the point where she (sometimes grudgingly) admits that she is glad she made the move and loves having people to interact with who aren't her family!"

"My wife is getting all the care she needs at Southview Acres Health Care Center. I am pretty happy with them so far. I like the place. The staff is trying the best they can, especially with the shortage of staff due to COVID problems everybody has. They have a menu every day that you kind of check off what you want and leave off what you don't want. They have a good cleaning staff. They keep her room very clean."

"We saw The Pillars of Highland Park. The director, Margie, who showed us around was exceptional. She came in on her day off to give us the tour because it was the only day that we were in town. Just incredible. They have a Catholic chapel there. I didn't think the facility was as bright and the hallways were a little dark for me. It was darker wood, darker carpeting, and that needs to lighten up a little. It was a much smaller setting which can have its pluses and negatives. But they had one dining room where you would come down, so assisted living and independent living all come to one dining room. The exercise room was almost nonexistent. It was hardly what you could call an exercise room, so they didn't have that. It is a pretty simple place, and I liked the rooms. The rooms were big and nice, and they had their own little deck. I like that."
