"My mom is at Good Samaritan Society-Ambassador. The staff there seems very caring. The services are high quality and the food is high quality (which is important to my mom). They have a little atrium that people could sit in, bingo games, and state-fair-themed activities. Recently, they just had someone that come in and perform music outside."

"Bryn Mawr Health Care is fine, but it's just too far for me to drive. I would like to get my sister closer to where I live, because I have to take her to the doctor to downtown Minneapolis and things like that. I'm 50 miles away from her. She's been in there since December and she's being treated very good. The staff seems to be knowledgeable, very caring to whatever she needs. It's very clean. They have a lot of things going on, they take them places, and they do a lot of things in the facility itself. So she has a lot to do, if she wants to do it. She's not forced and it's up to her. She's never really complained about anything. It's a fairly nice area, but it's just so far from me. "

"My brother recently entered Northridge with some very challenging needs. The level of skill, care and attention received exceeds expectations. While the facility may be a bit dated, it is clean, comfortable and there is a fair bit of activity going on..... residents seem happy. The staff works as a cohesive team, the front desk is helpful, there are good safety protocols in place and, the food presentation and quality is surprisingly good. Our famiy is very pleased with our experience at Northridge."

"We got my mother placed in Catholic Eldercare on Main. I would recommend it. So far, it has been very nice. Everyone is very helpful and very friendly, and they seem to take a lot of care about what they're doing. They are very, very helpful all the way around for everyone. They have therapy and all the usual stuff. The place is well run as far as I can tell. I remember seeing places that my wife's parents were in and they were very nice, too, but not like this one. My mother is basically in nursing care. She is sharing a room with another woman. The staff are extremely helpful, very pleasant, and always as competent as possible in taking care of business. I haven't tried the food, but my mother seems to be eating properly and fine, and that's all I care about. They do a good job at keeping the place clean and on top of things. They have activities. My mother doesn't partake in them, but I've seen volunteers come in and do a little Nerf bowling with some of the patients. They have musical ones, and my mother happened to see one activity where they brought some llamas in. One thing is that they go to medical assistance when needed, so it's not all private pay and we don't have to move her again, so that's a consideration there. Financially, it's much better to go there. It is a nice place. "

"I have moved into Maranatha because it's 10 minutes from your youngest daughter. I am impressed with Presbyterian homes, and I needed to find something closest to my daughter. It is a good location. There seems to be quite a bit of help that I can get, so I'm very happy here. Everything is fine. It's not large, and I think that's what attracted me. I have a patio that overlooks the pond. The upkeep is excellent. They have a therapist and a beautician as well. Their dining area is in a bistro, but I do most of my own cooking. I can go down for complimentary breakfast, but most of the cooking is done in the house. My room is wonderful. I didn't think it would fit, but it is working well. The staff is wonderful. Everybody has been very cooperative, and they really wanted me to feel at home. There are activities like cards, coffee gatherings, and breakfasts. They have a coffee gathering from 2 to 4 on Sundays, but I missed that. Everybody has been so welcoming. I'm getting to know my neighbors on the floor, too. When we first started making the tour of different homes, I was shocked at how much they were charging, but Marantha is definitely comparable, if not more reasonable. The other places were higher, but they didn't give me as much as this place does."

"The caring staff made all the difference for my mother for the years she was there. The food was good and the room comfortable, quiet, and kept clean. The housekeepers, nurses, aides, social worker, activities persons, and maintenance man all knew how she was doing when I came to visit. An example of their extra care would be the activities persons going to her room to visit her because she was not up to attending group activities. Those that took care of her laundry always knew if she needed more shirts or socks. The nurses and aides knew how to position her to make her more comfortable. As her diet needs changed, the cook fixed food she could eat. So many nice things were done by so many for my mom. I am so thankful. "

"My brother is at Golden Living Center for hospice. He's being well taken care of, and they're keeping him clean. The place is a little cluttered and noisy for our taste, but it's good. I don't have any complaints. "

"My husband went into The Villas at Brookview for short term rehab and dialysis services and he also has pain management needs. From the moment he entered the facility they have done a great job with providing care, sorting out his medication needs and dialysis has gone well too. They understand a renal diet in a way that not all facilities do. The staff are friendly and don't act like they are doing you some huge favor when they answer a call light. The room he's in is very clean and well decorated."

"Crest View on 42nd had everything you need and wasn't that fancy. They didn't have all of the fancy woodwork or linen tablecloths, but it had all of the basic things. We liked it because it's associated with the Lutheran Church and had a very nice chapel right in the building for Sunday morning services. It had a homey feeling. We felt comfortable there. It's more like being in a friend's or Grandma's house rather than in a hotel. "

"I liked Bethany Covenant Village although I didn't see all of it. It seemed to be a clean place. It's a nursing home with an assisted-living facility. The staff seemed very nice and pleasant. "

"Benedictine Innsbruck repeatedly demanded payment for my mother's room fee while not assisting in billing her insurance company. And their recommendation for my mom's discharge date seems to have been influenced by their self-interest. My mother incurred a $665 private room fee ($35 per day) for her 19-day stay in transitional care late last year, which Medicare doesn't cover. On discharge day, I informed the nursing home's business office manager of United Healthcare's intention to cover the entire cost, and asked her to bill them. -She resisted my request repeatedly, insisting incorrectly that no insurer would pay the charge. As a result of her inaction, I was left to spend 13 cumulative hours working with United to process the claim, effectively doing Benedictine's work. -While refusing to cooperate, Benedictine demanded on eight separate occasions, spanning less than two months, that my mother pay the $665 fee. -I escalated this matter three times, first to the nursing home's administrator, then to the organization's vp of operations and finally to its new president, the highest-ranking member of the organization. In almost a dozen combined e-mail responses (which I have kept to validate my claim), no one ever apologized for their employees' actions, or EVEN addressed the substance of my concerns. -Instead, the new president actually blamed me, claiming absurdly that I tried to "bully" him to "cave in to my pronouncements." -The new president claimed that he considered the matter to be resolved, while stating in the same e-mail that he would review the matter. In the two months since, I have received no further communication from Benedictine about their "review." In unrelated matter, when my mother and family met with clinic staff in weekly conference, they told her us she was doing well and could go home - exactly eight days later. They added that even if she improved significantly in the interim, they still advised the long-range discharge date. The target date happened to be on a Friday when the clinic is fully staffed and on my mother's nineteenth day at facility. Notably, Medicare covers 100% of costs (excluding room fees) for first twenty days. Given that information, it seems reasonable to conclude that Benedictine's self-interest influenced its recommendation. "

"My friend is in a nursing home now. She is at Jones Harrison. They have courtyard visits. Right now I cannot see her, but I was for a while. She was in the rehab/physical therapy type thing because she had surgery. She may be moving into long-term care now. It's excellent. She has gotten excellent care. The staff have been wonderful to her. They have been very helpful when I call them. They have been very good. The staff seem to be fine. Everybody has been very responsive to my questions, but I haven't been inside to be able to interact with their staff. They gave me all their phone numbers right off the bat. They sent me an email with all of their names, phone numbers, etc., so that was very nice."

"I've visited this place and found it very good! The facility provides medical nursing service 24/7. They provide patient's care from short term rehab and long term nursing and medical supervision. They really have a nice facility and wide range of service "

"My brother in law spent over two months at this facility in hospice care. He received the most compassionate and timely care we could ever have expected. The staff was unfailingly patient and compassionate. We visited often and found the facility to be consistently clean and everything in good repair. My brother in law had only one incident in which he fell out of bed but thanks to safety precautions and watchful staff he did not sustain serious injuries. We were called immediately. I cannot speak to the food as he quickly became too ill to eat. When we couldn’t be there every day staff attempted to feed him and offer water. They kept us updated almost every day. We appreciated such wonderful end of life care for my brother in law. "
