"Richfield Care Center Nursing Home is a small facility, and the staff is really, really nice and attentive. It's more for short-term patients. The sanitation is very good. I like the fact that it is a small facility and there's not a whole lot of patients. "

"We saw The Pillars of Highland Park. The director, Margie, who showed us around was exceptional. She came in on her day off to give us the tour because it was the only day that we were in town. Just incredible. They have a Catholic chapel there. I didn't think the facility was as bright and the hallways were a little dark for me. It was darker wood, darker carpeting, and that needs to lighten up a little. It was a much smaller setting which can have its pluses and negatives. But they had one dining room where you would come down, so assisted living and independent living all come to one dining room. The exercise room was almost nonexistent. It was hardly what you could call an exercise room, so they didn't have that. It is a pretty simple place, and I liked the rooms. The rooms were big and nice, and they had their own little deck. I like that."

"Having to find a nursing home for a loved one is never an easy decision or a decision that is easily accepted by the person needing the extra care that they need on a daily basis to not only survive but thrive as they get older in life. Add in a global pandemic and the choices and decisisions can be daunting at best and overwhelming at worst. My grandma and my uncle were past residents at the Inver Grove Heights Good Samaritan Society so I was already familiar with the layout and the rooms and the facility when it came time to find that next living situation for my mother last March. To me choosing a place with employees that truly care and enjoys not only what they do but who they take care of was top of my list and IGH-GS does exactly that. They truly treat their residents like family. I have witnessed my mother THRIVE under their care as well as make a whole slew of new friends!! Neither of those would have happened if she had been where she was previously! She is even to the point where she (sometimes grudgingly) admits that she is glad she made the move and loves having people to interact with who aren't her family!"

"West Wind Village was like a small village with artificial flowers and trees along the hallways. Their rooms were single rooms mostly. I was there when when I had some hips replaced. I was very happy with it. The food was good but not excellent. The place was clean, and it didn't smell. I like the atmosphere. The staff was helpful and pleasant. They tried to do their best. Their therapy was excellent. They had retired musicians played music, and they had birthday parties. There were plenty of activities."

"My brother-in-law was in Minnesota Masonic Home. His room wasn't anything elaborate, but it was relatively homey and pleasant. He was able to enjoy a couple of outings while he was still well. His diet was restricted, but he didn't complain about the food. The place had no odor, the surroundings were clean and attractive."

"My mother was a resident at Southview Acres just recently during the COVID19 surge. I must say that the care, compassion, and attention my mom received was more than I expected. I kept on seeing on the news how hard the Long Term care settings were getting hit, and through all that, I believe Southview Acres was the best choice I made for my mother. Shout to the administration and the director of nursing for having great communication throughout the whole ordeal. My mother is back at home now, and although she discharged home after completing her therapy, we only have fond memories of Southview Acres. "

"My husband stayed at Trinity Care Center for a short time. It was a welcoming and comfortable place like a big home. It was always neat and clean. Everybody was always smiling and happy. They had a dining room fixed like a little garden area so it was cheerful for the residents to come out and sit. "

"Walker at Westwood Ridge is a very pleasant looking place. It's very clean. We like it so far. The service is very good. My father-in-law has only been there for two-and-a-half months. They play bingo, puzzles, and different kinds of games. What impressed me most is the price and what you get for it. Compared to the other facilities, it's much better. "

"Trinity Care Center is beautiful. All the rooms are around the center area where the dining area is along with all these cobblestones and waterfall. It's just high-voltage and really pretty. The staff is very caring and very personable too. I've only seen the menu and it seems good and healthy, but my mom said she likes the food. She likes soup a lot and they all accommodate her with that. Her room is rather large. It's got good closet space and she's got plenty of stuff in there. It's got the senior living, assisted living, and the nursing home all in one, so you can just move back and forth depending on your needs. They have a hair salon, physical therapy, and she goes to bingo all the time. They make her feel like she's at home. Everything can use an improvement, but I think they've done a pretty good job."

"We looked at Sholom Home East. Overall, I liked it. They showed us the assisted living portion with a bedroom and a living area with a little kitchenette attached. We could see through the glass door, and we could look through the window. The dining area was all dark. The room was very nice, very accommodating, and had a nice view of the river, but it was empty and unfurnished. They have different kinds of activities that my mom could get involved in, and we were impressed. If my mom wanted to, she could keep herself busy there, but this is assisted living, and we were treated as if my mom was meant for assisted living and not memory care. The staff was wonderful, everybody was wonderful, very friendly, outgoing, answered our questions, and encouraged questions. The facilities were clean and newer."

The staff is very family-oriented - everyone at Hayes knows each other on a first-name basis, and the staff members are very responsive to family requests. The facility itself is somewhat old-fashioned in appearance - the bulk of residents share a room with another, although a few single rooms are available. The facility provides three meals per day as well as a number of educational and recreational activities to its residents, including day trips, shopping and expeditions to local restaurants. It is an excellent facility for people who need a limited amount of support - it should not be considered for those who require full-time physical or memory care.
