"I toured Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood. It has a continuum of care, in other words, if I can manage it in independent living, I can and if I need more help, I can add more services. So, it's not either or. It's more flexible in terms of what services I have to take. Plus, I can stay in the same unit even if I need to add care. I don't have to move to another section of the building if I go from independent to assisted living. It's a beautiful place. There's a huge walking path out in front and they have a walking club. And in the summer I like to walk. But the continuum of care was the biggest for me in my choice. They have an opening now, but I have to get my house cleaned out. So they said that they'll have openings in the fall. They know I'm coming then. The staff are caring and helpful."

"My aunt moved in at Ecumen Lakeview Commons. The staff is very friendly and very good. Everything there is very nice. The rooms are nice, and it's just big enough for what my aunt needs. The dining room looks like a restaurant, and they have choices for their food. My aunt says the food is very good. They have bingo and tours to different places. She takes part in just about everything, and I can't believe how busy she is."

"My mom has moved into Suite Living of North St. Paul. I like it best because they have six patients per one certified nursing assistant, so they have much more care. It's not like one certified nurse to 15 or 16. It's nice and clean. I think they said it's only 11 years old. It smells good, too. If my mother pushes her button, they are there within less than five minutes, coming in and checking on what she needs. They're very attentive, and everybody's super friendly. You walk through the hallway, whoever you pass, 'hi, how are you?' And they use my mom's name by her first name. They're very nice. They're very good. Everyone that we've come in contact with so far has been extremely helpful and kind. There's a smile on their face. They're always nice when we go in there. Regarding food, I've asked my mom, "What did you have today, and how did you like it? She says this food is very good. Sometimes she says it's a little bland, but that could be a personal opinion. Most of the time she says, 'It was a wonderful lunch. It was very good.' I haven't eaten it myself, but she seems pleased with it. It's a smaller facility. It's one level, which we like, because then they're not escorting her from level to level. The ambiance is very nice. They've got big living room areas with TVs for them to relax and lots of activities for the patients. So yes, it's very good. In terms of value for money, it is a very average price. I haven't actually seen the activities, but I saw their activity list, and I think it's exceptional. They have plenty to do with whatever level of care they're in. If there's something she can't do, there are other things she can. So they don't limit it to those who are higher functioning."

"Suite Living Memory Care & Assisted Living of Roseville has 25 rooms, so it's much easier. It seemed like a nice place so it's where my wife decided to go to, but then every place has their problems. There were only three people to take care of all the 25 rooms and do cooking because a bunch of people called in sick. The food's kind of a coin flip, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's just not the greatest. They have the people playing Bingo, different kinds of board games, and Yahtzee. Majority of the staff is pretty good, but some of them are questionable. The room my wife is in suits her right now, but they supposedly have bigger rooms there. She has her bed in there, a table by the side of her bed, a chair, a small refrigerator, a love seat, and a decent-sized bathroom."

"Gable Pines certainly seemed like a caring environment and definitely has lots of pluses in terms of what it offers its residents. It's probably at the high end of my search because of the cost, more than anything. I'm hoping that it'll be more economical, but definitely worth checking out if you feel you have the ability to pay for it. They're very, very nice people. They did have a very nice on-site dining. The two apartments that I looked at had an in-house washer and dryer. I looked at a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom, and they seemed to have ample space certainly for me. I liked the fact that they have a garage where I can bring a car if I want to pay for it monthly, so that was an add-on. They have storage facilities there, too, like a little closet, and that was additional on a monthly basis. They have an awful lot of stuff included in their monthly fee, which was wonderful if it's something that you can afford. Travis gets a 5. I just toured it, and it looked very, very nice and very, very welcoming."

The home is clean and well-maintained. Food is excellent! Staff is very attentive and friendly and took the time to really get to know our relative on a personal basis. The first two floors are brightly lit and inviting. The third floor is designated to those in need of memory care. There are pets on site including a large friendly dog as well as one or two cats. There are plenty of casual sitting areas, a porch, onsite parking, church services, and library. They are always going on outings to stores or events and try to keep the residents active and healthy physically and mentally. "

"Mom moved to Suite Living of Inver Grove Heights and what appealed to us was the size of the place and the program they offer. It develops to be a little community among the residents. There's the ease of getting around and it is beautiful. Everything is on the ground level. Mom can get exercise by walking around inside because it's designed in a circular pattern and it's a gated area, and that's important to her. Mom was touched by the fact that they addressed her immediately by her first name and that they all knew her upon her arrival. So, that endeared them to her. They're also very loving and very attentive. The first time I visited her, I found her with 6 other residents playing a card and dice game with the activities director. She's had her nails done as well. There were two wings, one for memory care (where she is now) and one for assisted living. They interact with each other and I can find her on either side. It was a little expensive, but I am pleased with everything. They made the transition very smooth for her (much smoother than I anticipated)."

"The staff is Absolutely fabulous and truly caring - it felt like a second family. Sylvia, the facility Director is beyond exceptional. There are no words to describe how wonderful she is. Christine the nurse just started when my mom went to the facility did an outstanding job with everything she had to learn and take on. Alex who leads activities is calm, caring and goes beyond her role. We were always greeted by the chef with a warm smile and he would take mom walking outside when we could not be there. There’s always something meaningful happening music, visitors, therapy dogs, spiritual days, and so much more. When my mom passed we could not have asked for a more compassionate experience, the way the escorted her with a prayer was totally beautiful. I will be going back just to visit the staff, the residence and other families we came to love."

"My mother lived at Oakridge Place. The price was good. You have a choice of doing a full meal plan, one meal a day, or two meals a day. They had wonderful staff there. We visited there. I thought that I was going to be able to have a meal there, but I didn't get to. I was a little late, and they were in the middle of their lunch. If you don't like what's on their menu for the day, you can do an ala carte menu. They could have said, 'Well, we can get you a sandwich quick' since people were still eating in the dining room. They could have done that. I think the staff either forgot or had to continue with the tour because I was late, and she had other things going on. The staff was wonderful. I visited this place two weeks ago, and the person who did the tour was Heather. She is new to that place, but she's very good and helpful. They had a couple of apartments that they were fixing up. After someone leaves a place like that, they thoroughly have to go through it and clean it. Heather did a great job. I was pleased with it. It didn't make a difference that I didn't get a lunch, but I think if they tell you you're going to get lunch, you should get a sandwich or something. They have a lot of activities for the residents. They had a lot of people coming in to sing. Sometimes, during the meal, they had light piano music going on and a lady was playing. It's not a place that I wanted, but it would be a great place for the right person. They were very efficient with everything. The dining room was very clean. The hallways were very clean and kept up well. They had a lot of activities. From experience with my mom being there, they have activities that are geared towards older people like bingo, putting puzzles together, and music. They have a van where they'll take you to the bank or they'll take you where you need to go. My mom was there during COVID the whole time and it doesn't bother her too much because she wasn't used to going out much anyway because she's blind and couldn't see. She had those books where they listened to the books. Those are provided by the Foundation for the Blind and that was her enjoyment for activity. There are good things for the people to do there. Overall (and I based it on what my mother was able to do), they were very efficient with that. They had therapies that would come in if your doctor agreed that you needed that. They had bingo, music, therapy, exercise, and some other types of games."

"We visited Lino Lakes Assisted Living and toured their memory care for my father. We liked the room because it was a decent size for his needs. It's a nice location because it's close to us, as we live in the area. Inside, it was beautiful, big, and didn't have that nursing home smell. They have a lot of room for the residents to eat. They also have music, I think, once a week. The staff who gave the tour was awesome. There are also RNs 24/7, so I like it there. We did a lot of online searches, and all of the places are pretty much the same. It's just a matter of the people, and the people were really kind there. The residents also seem to be nice."
