Would not recommend Crestview Lutheran. I witnessed firsthand numerous concerns with the condition of the facility and staff treatment of patients. Since my relative has been admitted, 2 separate complaints were filed against facility. - Poor communication with family. Staff, social workers, doctors do not return phone calls or messages. When you call Crestview, you go through a loop of voice mail messages. It is scary to have a loved one in a nursing home and be given no information on their care and have no one to answer questions. - The facility is run down. Peeling paint. Rotting wood trim on outside windows. Outside there is a broken concrete step that presents a trip hazard to residents. Chipped and splintering wood trim on windows in patient rooms. Chipped, peeling, broken rubber treads on the stairs. Handles hanging off dresser drawers. The fan in the room is old and doesn't work well, the temperature in the room is extremely hot (and never fixed). Strong smell of urine in the facility. - Found two separate mouse nest with droppings in my family member's room. - Saw and heard staff member yelling at a patient in a wheel chair, using rude tone of voice. - Saw a resident who was strapped in a wheelchair and unable to fend for herself begging for a glass of water. Staff ignored her repeated requests. Patient never got water. - Residents get a bath 1x a week. If a resident is incontinent and has an accident, they are not offered an extra bath. That means a resident who has soiled themselves is not cleaned. This happened to my family member, who begged for a shower for 3 days. Calling me crying, saying "I feel dirty" and "Why can't I have a shower?" - My family member has a medical condition and requires a modified diet. My family member was put on a regular diet in total disregard. Their symptoms are triggered by food, and they have special nutritional needs. When I raised concern with the nurse, she snapped at me and told me there won't be a "special meal for just one person". - Poor quality of food. Small portions. - My family member was served a Bologna sandwich in a plastic bag with fake cheese and thin white bread with a bag of chips for lunch. This is what inmates in prison eat. - If a resident has a medical or dental need there is a very long wait time to be seen. You cannot take the resident to another provider. - There are some nurses who do try to help. The activity person is amazing. Thank you for shining a light in a dark space.

If you care at all for your loved one, do not send them here. This place should be rated a one star because it is hard to find anyone here who is doing a good job for the patients. My spouse was left all night to sleep in a cold wet bed because the staff refused to change his soaked sheet. When visiting and you need to go find someone to do something because they rarely check on patients, you cannot find anyone. There is only one staff person working two hallways with 25 or more patients. I complained to the state and an ombudsman looked into the situation and nothing was changed.

I had to place my husband here in April of 2020, I had cared for him at home for 2 years before that. He had dementia, and it got to the point I didn't feel it was safe for him to be at home any longer. This was the only place available due to Covid. My husbands health declined so quickly, it was hard to watch. We were allowed to only do window visits. During these visits other residents were coming in and out of his room, without masks. I was told when he went in that they watch this type of thing carefully? Well needless to say my husband got Covid and died in June of 2020. Two months under their watch and he was dead, of course they took No responsibility, nor was their any compensation for his death. Please don't bring your family members to this facility, they Do Not protect their residents!

My mom and my dad were sent here for rehab. There are some staff who care and were good to us. BUT there are many many who ignored us, neglected, even mistreated. My mother died due to being neglected while at transitional care. Please be careful with your loved ones. Contact me if you need advice.

My parent was a nursing home patient/resident. Due to COVID-19, we weren't allowed to enter the facility. While having outdoor visits, my parent was continually sleepy & nodding off, and had to be brought back insude to use the bathroom during every visit. The nursing staff dismissed/ignored our questions/concerns, and our patient ended up with severe infections, sepsis, and an intensive care stay. We would never use this facilty.

Crest View Lutheran Home is enormous and has many facilities at different locations within the Northeast metro area. When we were there, we noted that they were making decorations for a Valentine’s party and playing bingo. The dining room was wonderful. They have a separate built-in area with different denominations for services during the week. I like the area where my mother-in-law will be living. She will have her own private room with more closet space and sharing a bath with just one other person. She will be dining with probably less than 20 people in a smaller area, which is more intimate, and she will get to establish closer relationships. It was spotless.
