Nursing Home Communities in Wheat Ridge, CO

"My husband moved into Mountain Vista Senior Living Community. So far I think he gets very good care. When I see him, he always looks very well cared for, and very well groomed. He enjoys mealtime. The food is good. He never misses a meal. Everybody's very kind and patient, too. They have a program of activities every day. They have a little store that's open and some days where people can go in and purchase things, they have church services, and they have transportation to various places. And I know in nice weather, they have outdoor activities. It's an older building, but it's nice, they have windows all around you can look out to. But, it's way too expensive."

"I toured Westlake Care Community in person, talked to the manager, and she gave me a tour, real nice and everything. She said she would just call me back, and she never did, it's been three weeks already. It was nice. It was very, very nice and clean. She showed me all the rooms. Everything and everything was good. They had private rooms, but they said that cost more. She showed me a shared room. They have a rehab, where you could exercise and stuff like that."

"My husband is a resident of Arvada Health Center. Like the director said, it's not the shiniest penny on the block and the dining room is kind of shabby. But the care is not bad at all. He has been in a few other communities, and they kept on dropping him. He doesn't have any problem with them, like when he's fallen he's not all beat up. If he needs to go to the bathroom they come right away; the care is actually good. We visit him once or twice a week, and it looks like they provide pretty good care. The staff is good, they come right away when you need them, and they treat him and us well. However, the food is bland. They have some activities for the residents, but nothing great. It's just a small, poor nursing home. They only have 150 beds and no amenities. But the staff doesn't abuse people, they're right there when you need them, and that's important. They respond promptly, they bathe them all the time, and change their beds every day. I have never seen cockroaches or mice in there. They actually have good reviews. The board came in and gave them a big plaque for caregiving on the wall that says they're very clean. The receptionist smiles all the time, and it makes you feel welcome when you come in. They're always very friendly to us. They're also cheaper than most of the other places. I don't think in Colorado you'd find anything for $7,200 a month. It's an old building on an old ranch, and the rooms are very tiny."

"We had to place my husband's grandmother in the facility because she was suffering from dementia. As a nurse, my concerns were about the staffing at any facility she was placed in rather than the building itself. I did go out to other facilities which were in pretty buildings and noted that there were insufficient staff members to care for residents, residents in soiled clothing, residents who had urinated or defecated in their clothes, etc. with little attention being paid to them. The building Evergreen Terrace is in isn't beautiful, by any means, but there seemed to be adequate staffing and we met with grandma's case managers monthly (initiated by Evergreen Terrace). They were very attentive to her needs and made sure that equipment that would keep her safe was ordered. How attentive and responsive staff is to their resident's needs is so much more important than the appearance of the facility itself. Evergreen Terrace was clean and all of the times we visited grandma there, I didn't smell urine and never observed residents who were dirty. "

"My sister is in Sierra Healthcare Community. They have very nice people and it's a very good place. She likes it. They're very good, patient, nice, understanding, and seem to know what the patients require. They do craft projects, group get-togethers, and music. "

"Little Sisters of the Poor care facility is run by Catholic Charities. It is a medium sized nursing home. There is another wing for just assisted living with apartments. It is as the name indicates for the poor and is extremely hard to get into as there is a waiting list. There are 19 little sisters that admiminister the facility and there are also registered nurses on each floor and only 5 residents per CNA so the care is exceptional. The amenities include two different style dining rooms, several activity rooms and exercise and recreational areas. The staff is paid at an above average rate and they are able to retain long time employees, some for over 20 years. The food is excellent and always varied. There is a ton of daily activities to keep everyone busy and healthy in mind, body and spirit. There is a chapel on sight with mass everyday at 11. Public transportation runs a regular bus through the facility and there are also outings in the van provided by the home. It is an exceptional example of what a long care facility should be, extra clean, no funny smells and warm and inviting! "

"My friend moved to Arbor View Nursing Home. It's an excellent place. He likes the staff and he likes the food, and they seem to be very caring. It's an older facility, but he's in a private room and he has his bathroom. It has a nice TV, but the building itself is a little shabby. Some people do go out of their rooms into the common spaces, and they're nice. What I like is that they have a very large birdcage where white birds are flying around, sometimes I'd put my friend in his wheelchair down there, and he likes to look at the birds."

"The price was really good at Colorado Lutheran. They have Bingo twice a week, and they take you for rides to different places. The food was very good, and they had different menus every day. "

"I've been to a number of assisted living and nursing homes. This is by far the best. The owner has been there 15 years and many of the staff have been there 9 to 20 or more years. Some of the residents have reached 99, 101 and 102. That doesn't happen without good care and caring personnel. My friend is 84 who just transferred there from Florida. She is really happy and getting better. She was in a rehab center in Florida and they wouldn't let her walk. Here they encourage it and she's thrilled. "

"Bethany Rehab Center is very nice and very clean. It has a very relaxing atmosphere with their furnishing and decor. It looks warm, welcoming and comfortable. It feels less like a facility and more like home. The staff is very friendly. They seem very knowledgeable and very welcoming. They also have activities for their patients. If Bethany Rehab Center had an opening at that time, that's probably where I would have placed my dad. "

"I think the layout and the upkeep of Life Care Center of Westminster was very good. It was very clean and people seemed to be happy. It was also in a very nice little neighborhood. The staff was very nice and I met three or four people, including the director and a couple of CNAs. They were very friendly and they all interacted with the residents very easily. Actually, at that time, I think they were voting, which was interesting. Some of the residents had gotten a ballot and were voting."

"I have to write a review because this place has does wonders for my mother. My mother came from a nursing home in Iowa that fed her full of drugs. They closed their doors and I brought my mother to Colorado. A nurse friend referred me to Clear Creek and we could not be happier. My mother is the happiest she has been in years. She is narcotic free and the doctors are absolutely wonderful. The staff is so friendly with her and with me when I visit. My mother loves the music, bingo and interaction with other residents. We couldn't ask for better. Thank you Clear Creek!!"

"We are really happy with Meridian Lakewood and having a very good experience. The staff is doing a good job getting my mom rehabilitated. The room is large, and the dining room is very nice. I tried the food in the building but not on the floor where she is living. She seems to like it. Mom is in a care center for skilled nursing. The staff is really friendly and helpful. "
