"My 90 year old grandmother has lived at Carlsbad by the Sea since the facility opened nearly two decades ago. She enjoys living there for a wide variety of reasons. Her apartment is nice, and offers her a personal space surrounded by her own familiar belongings, even in an assisted living situation. The location near the beach is beautiful, and she is walking distance from restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. She often uses the shuttle service for further trips. The staff, from the nurses, to the receptionists, to the dining room servers, are all very kind. They know my grandmother's name, and remember her preferences from day to day. They welcome visiting family members, and put together impressive buffets for holidays. The food is healthy and delicious. Residents have the option of dining in their apartments, or in the well-appointed dining room with a full service staff. A wide variety of enrichment activities are offered, and my grandmother enjoys telling us about the many activities that she participates in with her friends and neighbors. We have not had any major issues with the facility in the entirety of the time that she has resided there. "

"I liked Meadowbrook very much. They were very hospitable. It was a very nice facility that would be something that I would consider. They have nothing available right now, but they are building, so I am going to go ahead and get myself on the waiting list. I know some people who live there who are very happy, which is why I went to look at it. They like the dinners and have taken friends to dinner; they had us for lunch, which was very nice. They seem to have a lot of activities depending on what you wanted to be involved in. The grounds were very nice. I am disabled and have a scooter, and I went around the grounds, which was very nice. To me, it was more like a little community and not the hospital type of confinement. I was able to look at one apartment because a friend lives there. It was very nice and would be some place I would definitely consider."

"Mom is in Palomar Health Rehabilitation Institute. It's so clean, everyone is so professional, it's very organized, and they encourage people to get back to full health. They're like angels. My mom said the food was not as good as the other place, but she can be very picky. When I saw the food, it looked really good. The place is immaculate, beautiful, modern, clean, and very conducive to healing. They even have a garden. They took my mom out and had her do a little gardening as part of her occupational therapy. They have a little car, so they can practice getting in and out of a car. They have rooms set up with kitchens and things that people need to work with at home. They thought of everything. There's a gym. I've seen a putting green. Whatever their activities are, it's part of the overall therapy. The rooms are excellent, very clean, very well laid out, have windows with a view, and it's bright, airy, and cheerful. There should be more of these facilities around because if you're going to get better, this is what you need. If I needed one, I'd want to be there."

"I was able to visit Juehm Residential Care, and this facility is very nice and clean also. They offer care for bathing, dressing, and med management as well. The staff were very nice and accommodating, so it was a very good experience. I saw a shared room as well as a private room. "

"Palomar Vista is really, really nice. The place is great. They were very caring and wonderful nurses, but I noticed that there weren't always very prompt with some of the patients. I would absolutely recommend this place. I really have nothing bad to say to them at all. "

"I think Palomar Heights is excellent. Mom had lost weight before, but when she got there, she quickly regained some weight, which she needed to. She has had a number of strokes, so she's a little bit delusional and could be quite troublesome. But the staff is so kind, good-natured, and humorous. I really have nothing but good things to say about Palomar Heights. "

"My husband was in Valle Vista Post Acute for about 2 months from August to October 2023. He was rehabbing from a leg amputation. My husband also has dementia, so it is a complicated situation. The care there was very good, the nurses were attentive, he was kept clean, and his wound care was superb. The most important aspect of the stay for us was the physical therapy. I can't say enough about the physical therapy group, especially Rod, he was caring and took the time to overcome my husband’s muddle mind. My husband came home being able to transfer himself to his wheelchair easily. They also worked with me to help train me on how to transfer him from the bed to the wheelchair, help with how to pick him up if he fell, and how to transfer him to the car. This has made the homecare for him much easier. Although the facility is older, it has been updated and is clean. The view around the facility is beautiful and there are nice areas to take your family members out to see the views."

"I was at Palomar Continuing Care Center for three weeks. It wasn't really bad. They were pretty good, and the rehab people were fantastically good. They did a good job, as far as I am concerned, because I got back to walking again. The food was alright. The woman in-charge was kind of unpleasant. I had a caregiver who is trained and very knowledgeable, who was working with me at that time, and they wouldn't let him in the place. "
