I have taken care of four elderly relatives over the last 8 years. So I have seen assisted living, hospitals, home health and other skilled nursing. Though the rooms are a bit small, this place is the best I have seen. The staff are friendly, attentive and hard-working. The CNA's take an interest in each patient and the social worker helped me through the maze of insurance and technical issues. The physical therapy was as Dr ordered and state of the art. My father in law spent over a month here and is in the best shape I have seen him for the past five years. The staff encouraged him to do his best, celebrated with him and made each session fun. Also, the nurses noticed that the hospital made mistakes on his medications and walked me through the procedures to get his meds back on track. Thank You!

I had my mother transferred here. I sorely regret that. My mother was a highly decorated Army veteran at the rank a Lt. Colonel and a university dean. While that may not mean anything to this facility, nor does it mean special treatment or attention, it does mean she, like any other human deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. At 48 hours into her being admitted I signed my mother out AMA and took her home! The staff does not acknowledge you. They are too busy gossiping amongst themselves. I saw a caregiver eat off of a patients dinner plate while en route to deliver. They do not answer patient call lights. Mom asked for ice as she was fluid restricted, took them at least 3 hours after call lighting them various times. Their own physical therapist stated we should ,"Get the hell out of there." Then came in to apologize for his comment. I went home to gather my mom's personal effects. Toothbrush , some clothes etc. I returned 2 hours later with her things and I find my mother crying and scared to death! I did not hesitate! I went to the nurses station and they were all dumb founded. They all said they had no idea what had happened. I called a private ambulance to get the he'll out of there. I get her home and finally she slept. The next morning I find her covered in bed bug bites. I was so tired from the events of the previous day that I did not take off the bed sheets that came with her from the facility. I checked her over and found 3 large bugs. My poor mother! I have contacted an attorney! I also called the state. Another infraction was that the call light was held into the wall with transparent tape. This place is atrocious and must be shut down!

My mother stayed here for three days until we could get her transferred to another facility. She developed a fungal infection bed sore in this time. She waited hours for water. There is no heat and she was told to wear a heavy sweater. Overnight, they refused to give her the pain meds the doctor ordered or would only give her a half-dose. Doors are locked on the inside and outside and a physical key is needed to open. Sometimes it takes a while to find someone to open it. There is no pushbar for emergency release. This has to be a fire hazard. While waiting outside to be able to go in and visit her, we saw other residents being wheeled and left outside and ignored when they asked to go inside. Then, we watched the staff sit outside on their phones and listened to them talk about incidents that happened with residents that they were not going to tell their families about. There is more... This place needs to be shut down. Period.

Vista Knoll Specialized Care Facility was my favorite place to be in. The grounds were beautiful with trees and flowers, and I'd go out there in my wheelchair. They get you dressed every day, which I did not find in other places. I would go to lunch and then go outside and sit under the trees and just listen to my music, which I loved doing. They made my being away from home a lot easier. I didn’t care so much for the staff, because a lot of them were very young and they would goof off a lot. They would come into my room and get me ready, and then they would stand around and talk about what they did the night before. The physical therapy was excellent and the food was delicious. They would bring in people that would entertain us and it was fun.

I have a complaint in with state of calif. My mom is a fall risk and fell twice while in their care. They also failed to recognize when my mom was short of breath that she needed a hire level of care. I insisted she be transported to the hospital. Where she was admitted to ICU.

My stepmom was in Vista Knoll, and it seemed like a very nice place, but most people are bedridden in there. They do have a room that’s kind of like an eating room. The staff knows what they are doing, and they are very good at it and very attentive. It’s clean and well-maintained too.

Vista Knoll was definitely a step above the average nursing home, however the rates were a bit higher as well. I believe this was rightfully so, as every staff member which I interacted with was extremely friendly. The most striking detail witnessed during my visits to Vista Knoll was a staff member who was on their break who went out of their way to help a blind woman with a meal. The living environment was somewhat institutional, in the sense that it was setup much like a hospital with two to a room and various medical devices. The facility was relatively clean considering the condition of many of the tenants, most of which were almost completely dependent. Most importantly, I left with a sense of knowing that my loved one was in a safe environment, where she would not be abused or neglected, which made the peace of mind worth every penny. The only negative aspect of Vista Knoll was the environment was not home-like at all, it was very much setup to be functional, with little regard to emotional comfort. Overall, Vista Knoll seemed to be a very respectable nursing home.
