"Carillon Assisted Living was beautiful. They had a little bit more features, but it was about $2000 more a month, but they did everything there. It was just like walking into a very famous hotel, but it didn't look anything like it. All the glitter and fancy stuff, it was very, very beautiful. It was overwhelmingly beautiful. The only thing they did that I didn't like is they pushed me for finances, i.e., for me to go and get money for my mother from whomever I could, and I didn't like that at all. The other places didn't do that. Also they said they would call me back in a week, but they never called me back. Their surroundings and their rooms were absolutely beautiful. "

"I toured Denver Family Care Home. It was just a house with six people and a caretaker. It was absolutely lovely and so pristine. The person who is the 14-day on and 14-day off staff member who was present was wonderful, available, and informative. She didn't even know we were coming. The residents were clean. Their rooms were clean. The house was clean. Everyone was eating and having breakfast and going about their day. It's very organized. It's a lovely place. I wish it was a good fit for my father-in-law, but unfortunately not. If he needed assisted living, it would be perfect."

"We went and we saw just one room. We were not able to tour the entire facility, but I think they've opened up now. What we saw was a model room, but it would probably be the room my friend would move into if we had moved her in. The staff was very nice. They just were the nicest people we've ever met. All of them were very friendly. They go to Wal-mart once a week, and they do bingo and exercise classes, and that kind of thing. The unit we saw was just a one-bedroom apartment. It had a bedroom and a sitting room and a bath in between it. It's like two rooms that are of the same size with a bath and closet in the middle, but you can go into the bath from either side. We were not able to go into the dining area nor to their sitting room area, but we were able to walk by them. It's probably not quite as nice a facility as where she is now, and it's not as big, but that could be an advantage."

"I'm going to choose Brookdale Concord Parkway for my mom because it was just very, very welcoming when you walk in. It felt like you were not walking into an assisted living because the people (the residents) were up walking around. They had a person to greet you when they came in the door, and they have an ambassador program when new people come in. They have someone with them to be their buddy for the first two weeks in some areas. I just felt very comfortable there. The staff that gave the tour was very wonderful. The building was beautiful, and they had a really nice walking area and an outside area for the residents. It was very, very nice. I was very pleased. It was very clean. The outdoor area was very beautiful the way it's laid out. It's kind of like you're in a subdivision, like a suburbs setting. It is very nice."

"I had a nice tour of Dilack Home. I like the atmosphere. The only thing they had was the available apartment suite, which was not within my budget, so I couldn't do that. Mom would have one bedroom that was pretty large. It was furnished and had a bed and your use of closet. In the apartment homes, they had their own little kitchenettes, which my mother did not need because she had dementia. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and very informative."

"I went to Kannapolis Family Care Home. At that time, they had no vacancies. It was something that I was considering for my friend, as she needed more of a skilled care facility. A lot of the patients there require quite a bit of care, and even though my friend does pretty well on her own, she needs assistance with medications and stuff. It was fine. The person who showed me around was a medication nurse. They were very helpful. My friend was looking for a room that she could have by herself, but at that time, they didn't have one, and there was a possibility she would have to share a room. Also, at that time, I wasn't sure what level she was going to end up at. It was very clean. There was no odor at all when I went in. They're taking good care of the clients and keeping them clean. It was a smaller facility, but they were very welcoming, and they answered our questions. I had an appointment to meet with the owner of that particular place, but she had forgotten about it, so I didn't get to meet her. Like all of us, we got too many things on our plates, but they jumped right in and got me looking around and stuff. It was more of a home than a facility. I thought they did very well with what they had."

"Morningside was very nice. The people were very friendly. The rooms were very nice, clean and it had plenty of room. The food looked and smelled very good but I was not able to try it. The residents were very happy. "

"I toured Brookdale Charlotte East. I love the apartment, and there was one apartment in particular. When I first entered, my vision of what it was was very different from what I saw when I entered the building. When I first entered the building, it appeared as if it might be a nursing home - a home where very, very senior people lived that needed a lot of care. But as I spoke with the young lady, Linda, we conversed, and she explained a lot of things to my daughter and me. And then she took us on a tour to look at some apartments. They were very nice. I really liked the apartments, which were one-bedroom and two-bedroom. I thought the price was a little bit high, particularly for the two-bedroom apartment, because it ran from $3,400 to $4,100. Brookdale was very nice. I would love to live there, but I would never be able to afford to live there, even when my finances are in order. Brookdale has beautiful campuses."

"The Little Flower Assisted Living was very nice. It was smaller but it seemed more homey. It was also very clean. Their rooms were of nice size. The dining hall was very nice as well. The staff was very nice there too. "

"We are very happy at Brighton Gardens. I choose it because it is closer to where I live, and we want to place my boyfriend into a North Carolina nursing home because they give more care there than in South Carolina. It is very clean. The people there are very caring. The food is good. "

"I've been to the Cadence Senior Living at Mint Hill twice. I've tasted their food and even went there before Christmas. I pass by it a few times a day because it's in my town. It's close to my home and I can almost ride a bike there. My mother's home is over two hours from me, so I want her to be somewhat closer. It is a new facility, around 3 years old, and it's not very big. They only have less than 50 residents. They also had a great price. It wasn't necessarily the lowest, but everything just worked out for me. They had availability and the facilities were all brand new. Yesterday, when we went to taste the food, the staff told me that everybody there had gotten their first COVID shot, and that the people are coming back in a couple of weeks for the second. I like the fact that they are on top of things. You couldn't really tour the facility because of COVID, but my mother liked it and she enjoyed the food. I told the woman last night, "You folks are doing a really good job of following up everybody who needs information." Also, it just so happen that it's the one that I have seen, passed by all the time, and the one that my mother liked, so we're gonna go ahead and move forward. My mother is a retired nurse, so it has a lot to do with the feeling that we get from them and how professional they are as well. Everybody was professional, respectful of our time and was nice. My mother liked the food. She said that it had a good taste to it."
