Bright Side Manor

I'm sorry you felt that way Michael. I have been the administrator at Bright Side Manor for almost 30 years and, during that time, we have been a tremendous resource for many low and middle income older adults who can not afford typical "traditional" assisted living communities or who have spent down their life savings elsewhere only to find themselves being asked to move out. Bright Side is an older facility - it has been providing housing for older adults for over 100 years. A renovation in 2003 brought it up to the standards for licensure as an assisted living facility and we are the only community in Bergen County that accepts direct admission of residents on Medicaid. Our Food Service Director, a former NYC restaurant chef, has an outstanding reputation and we've been told by State Inspectors that we are the only facility where the residents rave about the food. So I'm not sure why smelling food when you visited was a negative. Most visitors comment on how good it smells when they visit! Yes, our space is tight. With many of our residents using walkers, we wish our hallways were wider! We would also like to have more private rooms . As it turns out, we are working with an architect on a plan to build an addition on our building that will provide more space and more light. We hope to launch this project in the very near future. In the meantime, we are very proud of our staff who, as you describe, are nice and helpful, warm and caring and ensure that our residents feel safe, secure and comfortable. We enjoy close ties to our community and enjoy the involvement of many faith based organizations, volunteers of all ages, local businesses and civic groups. We all proud to be a resource that ALL older adults can afford and, over the years, have served not just low and middle income seniors but also seniors with tremendous resources who selected Bright Side because they appreciated the quality of care and the feeling of being at home.
