I visited this facility

Anthology of Burlington Creek was OK. It's a little pricey and there wasn't too much in the respite care. If you had respite care, you had to go into memory care. I wasn't as enthused about that facility. You had to have more time for their limit for respite care. So, there were a lot of things that didn't meet our criteria. The physical facility was very nice. The person that toured me was fair. The biggest issue was they had just been bought two weeks ago by another thing, and they had no literature. No handouts. No explanation of what they had and then I got a text back from him later telling me what the cost was for the respite care and that was it. Just one amount and I wasn't too impressed with their presentation.

My dad moved into Anthology of Burlington Creek. He's been there about two weeks, and it has been excellent. I think what I like the most is the level of care that he gets and the attention he gets from the memory care staff. The facility itself is very beautiful, very modern, and it's close to me, which makes it even nicer. I did not eat there yet but looking at the meals when I'm there with my dad, they look very good, and he has not complained about them. That's a plus because he did not like the food at the last place he was at. They do activities every day. They always have something going on beginning at nine o'clock and the last activities at 3:00. They do games, they have rosaries and hymns, and they read newspapers together. They play cards and they make cakes. There's a variety of activities that they do. They also have exercises, and they walk.

I visited this facility

My tour at Anthology of Burlington Creek was excellent. The staff was very nice. Se's contacted us a couple of times since then. It's a new facility. They have companion apartments, and they have private apartments, which I thought was neat. They have their own room too, but then they share a bath. Everything looks very nice. They were all sitting there watching TV. They weren't doing anything, but she gave us a list and so forth and told us what they do. It's very nice. She's asked us, if we wanted to, we could come over and spend half a day and see what goes on. The dining area was very nice. It's a very new facility over there in the area. It's a little farther away from home. It's easy to get to, but it's a little bit further away. The woman that took us around, they were really busy, but I would say she's a five. The lady when we checked in or whatever was a little bit rude, I thought.

Anthology of Burlington Creek is a very good place. My mom has been there since September and I liked it a lot. She's in memory care and they have a lot of activities all day long. They do bingo, coloring, they have TVs that they do game shows on, they do gardening, and tea time. They do like a festival outside in the courtyard for the residents and it's nice. They're always out doing something. They're not stuck in their rooms. Her apartment is nice. It's small, but it's fine for her. It's very nice-looking and very clean. They have, not hardwood floors, but something kind of like that and it's very nice flooring. She has improved a lot there because of the interactions she has. She has dementia so she's in there and she can't do a lot by herself but she has improved quite a bit with her social skills. They are taking very good care of her. I go in there almost every day and they have a lot of nurses, their staff constantly with the residents and helping them. They're very nice to her. The food is good. I would go there during lunch almost every day, and they have salads and fruits for dinner or lunch.

I visited this facility

I went to look at Anthology of Burlington Creek. It seemed very clean and very pleasant. It was a lot bigger than the other facility. The people were very nice. They have a little theater room, so they offer TV screen movies, and I guess they use that same room for church services. They offer a salon that comes in one day a week. They do have an exercise room with various pieces of exercise equipment. I just had a meeting with the salesperson, and she was very kind.

I visited this facility

I toured Anthology of Burlington Creek, and it was excellent. It's a little bit further away, and the traffic is busier than the other place I toured. All the people there seemed very happy, including the patients there; it was good. The staff who gave the tour was very personable, and she knew the same people that I did. It was a good visit with her. They have amenities, including a movie theater. It was excellent. It was very clean.

I visited this facility

I toured Anthology of Burlington Creek. It is only six years old, it is new, and you can tell that it's new, and that it's been built with a little bit more luxury in mind. We were able to tour the apartments. They had a lot available, so we were able to look at quite a few. They were nice-sized rooms, they were bigger than others. It is one that we're also very seriously considering. It's never too late to learn digital electronic boards with a touchscreen action, so it's nice if a person can go up and, you know, literally look at old photos from the 40s, or they can go look at places they've traveled to, or whatever, and that was a nice type of activity. The staff member was very nice, I think she did a great job. She was very accommodating to us. She met us more on our terms than on her terms, she was very friendly. The food was higher quality, I think they had more options. It was very clean, but the layout I did not care for, there were large distances to get between places.

I loved Anthology of Burlington Creek. I would move my mother there in a heartbeat. It was very, very clean, the staff was interacting with the people all the time, and the residents were happy. They had an outside garden where they had barbecues too. The place was beautiful.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My son has moved into Anthology of Burlington Creek. When we went there, it's close. For one thing, it's just about six miles from me. It is a little further from his wife, but not much. It's close. It's new, and everything is really quite lovely. It's in our budget. Affordable is not a term we use for nursing care, but it was within our budget. We met with staff members, and we were impressed with them. We were impressed with the facility. When we toured it, we found people to be helpful. As we were moving in, everything went very smoothly there. Of course, we literally carried furniture in. Since his move in, he's been a little on the anxious side because this is all new for him. He occasionally wants to come home. He looks for a door and that kind of thing. They expect this is normal, and they have been very attentive of his needs and to our concerns. They are incredibly supportive of us. They're taking very good care of him, and we're really very happy with that. He still wants to come home, but I'm pretty sure that's normal. Eventually he'll settle in just fine. We're pleased with the care. We can call any time to see how he's doing. We're staying away for a week or two in hopes that he can kind of settle in a little bit and begin to develop a new routine (which is essential for memory patients). We really couldn't be happier. We like it very much. It's beautiful and simply lovely. The rooms are lovely. The bathrooms are spacious and have huge showers and and plenty of call buttons and chains. They're really, really excellent. They have great big airy windows. It's a cheerful looking place. If you've ever toured any of these kinds of places, sometimes they can be kind of grim. There's nothing grim about Anthology at all. We've had a number of interactions and all of them have been very positive. They have been spending a great deal of time familiarizing themselves with Nathan, such as what helps him, what hurts him, and how they can make him more comfortable. They really go out of their way. I consider it out of their way, they obviously consider it their job; but they're doing it, and I'm very pleased with that. They keep us apprised of what's going on. His wife and I are both very pleased. We're new in the game. Nathan will give us some negative experiences, without a doubt. But right now, I have no negative experiences with the facility or staff at all. His dementia has left him with a clear taste for junk food and no taste for anything healthy. So, I'm not worried about food at all. Compared to other facilities and the cost of other facilities, it's lower than some that are not nearly as nice. It's a great deal lower than trying to do in-home care for extended periods.

Anthology's facilities are extremely nice. The front desk staff are great. The sales staff were great. The dining room staff seemed fine although they have had a lot of turnover and have switched from an outside contractor to in-house and it hasn't been long enough to see the effect of that. The menu choices have always looked good but the delivered food hasn't always been that great. The activities staff are always upbeat and friendly but I wish they had a broader range of activities for folks into crafts rather than board games. They have done a good job of scheduling music programs at regular intervals. My real problem is with the aides that take care of the residents. When my dad initially arrived, I gave them nearly two months worth of his meds which they immediately lost (including some containing narcotics!) They don't seem to always dispense the meds properly either as my dad went without prescribed eye drops for almost two months and even now doesn't get them as often as prescribed. They don't always take very good care of the patients. My dad needs to be transported in a wheelchair but has a recliner where he is supposed to keep his feet up when he is in his room. I frequently go in and find that they have left him in his wheelchair for hours because they complain of needing help to move him. (We are paying for two-person transfers.) One aide wasn't careful when moving my dad and rammed his foot into a doorway. When my dad hollered, the aide backed up and did it again! I complained to the head of nursing care and about a week later this same aide rammed my dad's other foot into a doorway and a nurse had to come and tend to it. The aide blamed it on the doorways being too narrow. They are very short-staffed, as are probably most assisted living facilities at this time. My dad had to call me the other day because no one had answered his nurse call button for forty minutes (not unusual) as the aides had forgotten to take him to his lunch meal. I had to call the front desk to get someone to go get him and bring him to lunch, by which time lunch was almost over. The head of nursing has only been there a couple months but does not seem to very interested in the care of the residents. They are supposed to have a meeting with the families of new residents after they have been there about a month. I finally had to request that meeting after almost three months. I had a lot of suggestions and requests which they noted during the meeting but took no action on any of them. I go to see my dad nearly every day and am not impressed with his quality of care. I don't know that I could recommend Anthology to people who are unable to monitor their relative's care on a regular basis.

I visited this facility

I visited the Anthology of Burlington Creek. I've been there two or three times. I liked them for the number of activities that they do, their homey atmosphere, and because the residents there all seemed to be happy. When I met with them yesterday, there were a lot of things that they said had to be outside services that had to come in. Some of them I didn't really understand why it had to be outside services that needed to come in, like a third party care. Everything was updated, easy to get to, and clean. The place is easy to access because it's close to major highways. There's also lots of different things around there.

My brother was in here. It was fairly new and very nicely appointed with furniture and decorations inside. They are still in the process of filling their rooms, so I don’t think they have been open more than a year. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They had several nice activities that he could have participated in, but he was only there a short time before he passed away. They had an excellent dining room and very good food; I ate there two or three times. They had a nice room with a sauna that was very helpful to people who had some aches and pains, and a very small gym that allowed people to do exercises. It was a very nice location in a fairly large shopping center in the northern part of Kansas City. It was a very pleasant place.

It was very nice. It was new. I liked it. I think it was a nice place. The whole layout and the rooms were very good. It was just friendly. The food was good. The staff was very nice and friendly. They had activities like games. They had outings. They had a little bus that took the seniors out to different places. That was very nice. They seemed to have a lot of activities for the guests to keep them occupied.
