Railside Assisted Living

Railside was good, but it’s not what my mom is looking for. If what you need is assisted living, it’s a very nice facility. The rooms were adequate and not terribly big. The staff was very pleasant, very informative, and very helpful. However, my mother is looking for something where she starts with assisted living and can go into nursing if she needs to without moving. But they do not offer that. The price was comparable. The more aid you need and the more help you need, the higher the cost. The security was very good.

I thought this assisted living center was wonderful. My grandmother was there for a couple of years and it was the best place for her. She loved it and I loved that she did. We were afraid at first but once we met the staff they were great. They took real good care of my grandmother and I couldn't ask for more!

Railside Assisted Living Center is very nearly perfect. Located in Byron Center, Michigan, it is all on one floor, the hallways are wide, the rooms spacious, and each room has a pleasant bay window looking out at Railside's pleasant grounds. There is an open door policy for visitors, but the building is secure and there is extra security for the memory unit. I can arrive at any time to see my mother, and simply enter in a "key" code to obtain building entrance and then another code to enter the memory unit where my mother is. I can always see people on duty--a nurse and other caretakers. The nurses appear capable and the caretakers are particularly pleasant, smiling, and willing to help. A dining room is available to the residents, and assistants help with provision of food to each resident, to include feeding them if necessary. I have checked the price of Railside, and it appears to be comparable to other similar centers. To take the cake, my mother, who has Alzheimer's, says she is happy living at Railside.
