My mother was admitted for Long term care- advanced dementia - the process was streamlined - her admission was a difficult family decision, and the staff understood this and provided myself and my family with all the information needed. I want to express my gratitude to all the staff who took care of her - her care was wonderful . Placing a loved one into a facility is difficult- I would highly recommend Fallriver healthcare.

I would not send an animal here. Stay clear!! My mother was Not taken care of. The staff is rude and uncompassionate including administrative. The only 3 people that were 2 activity coordinators and a staff member on river 1 who would work front desk also. These 3 employees were the only ones who treated my mother and I with respect. Everyone else that we dealt with I cannot wait for Karma to meet up with you. I continuously fought to get my mother the care she so deserved. Staff was rude and didn't seem to want to do their job. A lot of times no staff around. Place is filthy. Would spot check in mom to find out she was soiled most of time-sores from not being cleaned and rotated-uncovered and exposed for all to see-medication left unattended a few times in her room including syringes-oxygen off her and many many more things. Tried several times relocating her and when I finally found HELP on getting her out-she passed away. No more fighting Mom-now your at peace and KARMA will meet up with everyone at that nasty facility. Should be closed!!!

I recently was at The HIghlander for pulmonary rehab and they saved my life! I went in thinking I was not ever coming out and I am down on my oxygen needs, have more stamina and I feel like a million bucks. The care was superb, some of the most caring people I have ever met. I would recommend The Highlander to anyone who needs rehab. Thank you to the staff and Dr. Lorenzano!

Kindred Highlander was so understaffed that I walked in on my mother full of feces one day because they started cleaning her, got called away, and never went back. It was disgusting, and it was because they were understaffed. I would find feces on the floor because when my mother went to the commode, something dropped, she made a mess, and they would not come in; they weren't around to check. They didn't even know it was there, so nobody walked in the room or knew it was there until I visited, and I would have them come in to clean it. She ended up being in there for three months because she couldn't get rid of the infections, and I can imagine why. They weren't doing a very good job at keeping her clean. The staff was trying, but they were overwhelmed. They didn’t have enough staff to help you. There was nobody around, and that was just inexcusable. We couldn't wait for her to get well, so we could get her out as soon as possible. I complained about it passionately and they apologized. The only thing that was excellent about the Highlander was the doctor. He was a very nice, caring man. He was a very, very good man. They fed her processed food, and I couldn't believe it.

Specifically Unit 4 had been a wonderful and caring experience! Both my sister and my mother were cared for there. The nurses and aides are caring, compassionate and friendly. I can't say enough GOOD about them! I took care of both my mom and sister before they had to go into the nursing home, but when it was time for Hospice, they helped me out with that, too. And the two different Hospice companies/teams were all wonderful both to my sister and my mother as well as the family members.
