I visited this facility

The staff at HeartLands Assisted Living at Severna Park was very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. It's a smaller facility overall. We went to the memory care and it gives a very homey feeling. The staff have been there the longest of all four facilities I visited. There's a lot of experience there and there's minimal turnover. The dining area was nice. Again it was smaller, so it gives a more cozy type of feeling. It was an older facility, but it was well maintained and they have a lot of value for the cost.

Provider Response

Thanks for your feedback Chuck. We were glad to see the small, intimate nature of our memory care neighborhood felt so warm and homey to you. We appreciate your thoughts on the value we provide as well as your compliments for all of the team members you met during your visit. Please let us know if you have any follow-up questions.

I visited this facility

We toured Heartlands at Severna Park. Nice staff. Nice facilities. The closets were smaller than we would like for making a transition like this. The building was in very nice shape. They're not as new as the other place, but they've kept it up very nicely. They have nice walking paths on the campus there. The rooms were comfortable and pretty decent square footage, except for the closet space. They have an exercise room, and there's a library. They have the usual things you see in all these places. The place was in good shape. It was well maintained. The floor surfaces were nice. It was a nice enough facility.

Beautiful inside and out.. very clean. Staff is soooo caring and residents are treated with so much love and respect. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, look no further! They will get the best care . I have visited residents here several times and the staff is always so incredibly nice to the residents and their families. Love this place. Food is very good , rooms are very nice and your family will be treated as family . Nursing staff are wonderful and the office staff is the best !! Your family member will get the best medical care, treated with lots of love and you will feel good knowing they are getting the best care.

I was more impressed with Heartlands; however, the cost is what made us not to choose them. The place was very nice; however, it was a little bit on the more expensive side, and we couldn't justify the extra cost. Had price not been a factor, Heartlands would have been the place we chose. They offered a couple of choices of meals a day. They have a shared TV room and common room where they were doing music and activities. The staff seemed very engaged with the people. They were very good. I was very impressed with them. The manager was very helpful. The honesty and the assistance that she gave us were incredible. Even after we realized that we probably couldn't afford it, she helped us out and gave us some tips on the other things to look for.

HeartLands at Severna Park was an excellent place. I really liked it, but it was too big for my mother. She has some dementia and would have gotten lost in it. It’s a little more expensive, too. I didn’t take a long walk around the grounds, but coming into the building, it was very nice. The dining area was very nicely set up with tables, so that six or eight people could sit together. They had quite a few different sizes of rooms. I probably would have gone for a small room. Each room had their own microwave and a refrigerator, which was very nice.

So far, it has been great at Heartlands Assisted Living at Severna Park. My mom is starting to fit well into the place. The rooms look nice, like hotel rooms. She seems to like the food. I saw the menu, which looked good. Their staff is great. Everytime I come in there, they greet me and know my name. The only problem for me was their parking because their parking lot is small.

I was very impressed by the staff at Heartlands. They had 24/7 nursing available, which was not common. They seemed to be extremely knowledgeable and caring. The tenure of the staff was quite long, which was a good indication that people were happy working there. The facility was nicely appointed, but it was kind of old-school because it was kind of dark. They did not have as many activities to take people outside of their place. It seemed like they had a lot of activities that were there, but they did not encourage and facilitate people going outside of the facility. The dining room looked nice, and they had like a little grab-and-go kind of place. The rooms were fine. They were nice. However, the facility felt very dark. It felt, to me, more of a less cheerful kind of environment. The staff was very good. They called people by their first name. Everyone seemed to know everybody, and that was a good sign.

I was at this community for a tour. First impression was it smelled good and was clean. The staff seemed to be engaged with the people that live there and the residents looked good. The woman who toured us was very helpful. We have never been through this before. I didn't know what I was getting into but now we feel a lot better.

My mother was a resident in the Heartlands. I found the staff attentive to her needs, and to the concerns of the family. The meals and medical care is first class. I think you will be pleased the care your love one receives at Heartlands in Severna Park MD

We visited Heartland, and I thought it was nice, but it wasn't as nice as the other facility. It wasn't as open, warm, or friendly. Maybe it is because the people there were older, but I don't know. Their back porch area was not very pleasant at all. That wasn't picked up, decorated, or clean. I don't think that was really nice at all. I thought the people there were very nice. They are very warm and gracious. There wasn't anything wrong with the people. Maybe my mother-in-law thought that she wasn't quite ready for a place like that either. She just thought that she was more active than that. The room was nice and clean. They showed us an empty room where someone had just moved out. We also saw a room where someone was living in, and it was very nice and clean. It has a microwave in it and a nice closet. The room looked good. The people had decorated outside the hall.

We were down in Heartlands Assisted Living. They were good, and the staff was nice, but I really didn’t get to them because there weren’t any rooms. They had a waiting list. They book up with the women really fast. They had rooms for men, but they didn’t have any place for women.

HeartLands was a nice community and of high quality. The staff was very nice, and the rooms were lovely. I saw the suite; it was roomy, with a kitchenette, and very open. They had church, a speech therapist, barber shop, multiple social activities, exercises, and a pool. It was the most expensive of all the ones we saw. It was wonderful, gigantic, and I got lost and that was the one turn off. I couldn't figure out how she was going to get around, and that was the reason I didn’t actually like the place.

Hearthlands is great place. My sister loves it. She likes the people, and she is very happy there. They offer everything she needs. They have on-site nursing care 24 hours a day. They have a great restaurant where they serve 4 meals: an early breakfast, a late breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are snacks available throughout the day in the center. There are activities like day music and things in the afternoon. They do a lot of outside trips. They take them out for trips to the grocery stores and shopping every once in a while. They keep them really busy. They have reading facilities. They have exercise rooms. They have book clubs. They have classes. They have 3 areas where they do activities. The only problem I see is the traffic going outside of the place. It isn't really a major issue, just the traffic on the road. However, they have open parking there, and there is never an issue.

I find Heartlands very pleasant and clean. It's a small dementia community. They have three caregivers on duty all the time. Nurses come in and out, so my mom gets a lot of attention. It's well maintained. The staff was pleasant, helpful, and friendly. They answered all my questions and give me all the help they can. I like the idea that it is a small dementia community.

A year ago, I looked at Heartlands, and it was OK. It was much smaller scale, but the amenities were not nearly what the other one had to offer. The staff was fine. At the time that I actually went there, I was not able to see any room. I didn't have the warm welcome that I had with the other place I visited. I had pricing for them recently, but I have heard from others who were looking around that it was more expensive.

This is not a good place for dementia. They do nothing to stimulate them and activities are horrible. Food looks like slop. If your relative has dementia, go somewhere else. I went there with a friend who has her Mother there and would not put my relative there at all.

My brother has Parkinson's and schizophrenia. I visited Heartlands for him. It was okay. It wasn't great though. It was well maintained and in a very nice area. The rooms were fairly nice, not great. They were just fine. The staff was friendly and I like them. They did have the basic activities. They were just the same that you see generally in this kind of facility. However, Heartlands could improve on probably having more fitness-type room within the facility that the guests can use, rather than just a rehab room. Nevertheless, I would recommend this facility to others.

We liked Heartlands at Severna Park and we had a very nice tour. The place was nice and clean, there was no smell or any odor and everything was picked up. The rooms were spacious and nice. There were activities planned almost every night and a special activity once a month. We liked the staff very much because they kept everyone active as long as the residents were able to do it. I would commend this facility to other people.

It's very nice at Heartlands. They had a nice 2-bedroom apartment, perfect for a couple.
