"My mom will move into Brookdale Olney. There are lots of different, nice seating areas. The head nurse was great. There have been people there for years and years and years, especially the head nurse. The person who runs the place, the executive director, is just fabulous, like a bright light. She was the best of all the medical directors of the place. She makes you feel welcome at home, and like you're in the right place. They recently have redone the dining room, which is right downstairs. I don't know how the food is. I asked the residents. They said it was good. I spoke to a lot of residents there. That was the other thing. The ones I talked to seemed happy. It just was a really nice place. The salesman did a great job. Very transparent. You can really talk to him. I would recommend this place very highly. They have lots of activities. It just felt like a warm, good place to be."

"My wife will be moving into Marian Assisted Living. My first impression was that it looked and felt peaceful. The upkeep looked very good. The rooms were good. The director of the place made me feel as if I had just made a new friend. She was very professional. They served us a meal. The meal was excellent. My wife was a vegetarian, and they made sure they accommodated her. They had a list of several dozen activities that they involved the residents in. They have a calendar posted listing the activities for each day of the month and each time of the day."

"Cadence Living Olney is lovely. The facility is really good. We looked at a studio and a one-bedroom. The studio was lovely. They both had a small kitchen facility, but we liked the one bedroom, just to have that extra space. We viewed the physical therapy room, activities room, and dining room. Everything was so pretty and people were so friendly. I was impressed by that. They have a nice screened-in porch and there's a nature preserve behind, which was a nice feature, to have those trees behind you and then a walkway all around the place. They all seemed genuinely friendly. We saw interactions between staff and residents there, and they were all positive. My son and daughter-in-law ate lunch there and talked with three of the residents who were all very positive about the place and happy living there. They like the food."

"Everything was fine at AlfredHouse Eldercare. It’s quite a small facility and they only have 8 patients. The rooms were fine. The place is on a land that looks like somebody has a private farm so there's a lot of very pretty land around it. My parents lived about a year and a half in this facility and we were very pleased with them. This facility is definitely good for somebody leaving their own home and going to another place because it was just like a house. Their food was also very good. "

"AlfredHouse V was nice. It was a house setting. It's very clean and updated. We were looking for a building with a gym, but it doesn't have an exercise facility. They said they could build one, but right now it doesn't have one. The person who gave us the tour was fantastic. He was excellent. The rooms are spacious. They're clean and well-furnished, and the bathrooms are nice. They have options for shared bathrooms or private bathrooms. It met our needs. But right now, we're not ready to move yet. The dining area was very nice. They have a kitchen and an eating area in addition to the bedrooms. An activities person comes in twice a day, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. There's a shared activities director for other Alfred Houses."

"The rooms at Grace House were clean and updated. They had daily activities and the staff was very informational and pleasant to deal with. The dining room was small, which was nice because it wasn't too overwhelming. They had a library, a chapel and a living room area. I love their fish tank."

"My family member has been at Arbor Place for about 6 months and I am very happy with the quality of care provided by the excellent staff. The ratio of caregivers to residents is unsurpassed and there is a genuine effort to provide individualized care to each resident. The staff communicates well with families and provides updates and occasional photos in between visits. I was anxious before placing my family member in a memory care facility, but I can honestly say that I sleep well at night knowing she is in a caring and highly professional place."

"My mom moved to Bedford Court. It was close in proximity to where she had been living, and already knew a lot of the residents in Bedford Court. She's got a one-bedroom apartment with a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. She has a balcony outside, which was recently renovated, and a very nice full kitchen. The staff was very nice. I tried their food, and Mom liked the food a lot. The building was very clean. They have quite a few programs going on. They have regular scheduled events like trips to grocery stores or shopping centers. They do occasional events like trips to museums. They have movies. They have talks presentations, activities like games, and a lot of different games going on. They celebrated the holidays in different ways. They're the most reasonably priced of the places we looked at."

"Homecrest Assisted Living was a nice house, but it didn't have the outdoor setting like the one where my mom lives now. They put their residents to bed after lunch, and I didn't like that. The staff member was great. She was very knowledgeable and very sweet. The place was very updated, but it was run more like a business and not a home. The rooms looked very nice. They had a nice exercise room and they had a lot of activities. They had a nice living room with a TV."

"I was beyond horrified by this organization. If you care about your family member, stay far far away. The costs posted are grossly underestimated. For your money, you get the cheapest quality food, zero stimulation, extremely limited nursing oversight and horrendous management. These people have no understanding of dementia, nor do they provide appropriate training. They will skimp on what is provided to your loved one so they can line their own pockets. Their caregivers do all the cooking and housework, and have no time to engage with residents. "

"This is a wonderful facility. I toured many other places and nothing came close to this wonderful home. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The owner, Ramesh, is an amazing person. He truly cares about every resident and does his absolute best to make sure everyone is well taken care of. My father was resident here, he was a man of few words but he spoke highly of Ramesh and Sycamore Acres."

"We went to AlfredHouse Needwood. The staff was very nice, pleasant, and very informative. We got to walk through the memory care unit, got to meet some of the residentsm and got to see the activities they were doing. We saw the dining hall, the bedrooms, and got all my questions answered. It was super clean."

"AlfredHouse has nine facilities, but my mom is going to be in a home with eight people as opposed to a big facility. This one is very nice, and just very perfect for her needs. Some people may need larger facilities with big TVs, big dining rooms, and things like that, but my mom has Alzheimer's, so I wasn't interested in paying all that money for the extra bells and whistles that she can't use. It's five minutes from my home, so that makes a big difference, because I visit a lot. The facility is small, it's not a big one, so the ratios are much better. It's like one person to four, and they only have eight people in the house. They have large homes, but I like that one because it is smaller, it's good one-on-one care. It's beautiful, it's a home that has a huge sunroom, it has a TV room, individual bedrooms, both single and double, and it's in a neighborhood. It's a cul-de-sac, and it's in the neighborhood, so you can go out walking and feel safe. It's a beautiful home. The staff is very friendly, and very caring to the patients that were there. Basically, it's a family-owned business, so a lot of the people who worked there were related to the owner, the original owner. I know that people come in and do exercise, music therapy, and memory therapy."

"I've been living in Aberdeen House III for five years. There are a lot of things I like. I'm very independent here. I'm independent as far as dressing, bathing, and eating. It's the most upscale assisted living house I have ever lived in. It's beautiful. It has huge windows in every room. I'm downstairs, but the downstairs is on the same level as the side yard, so we have windows, too. I have my own door. I take the wheelchair out and there's Metro access. It's just very pretty, the landscape, the trees. We have a backyard with stones, a deck, furniture, and a wall. It's very nice. I don't expect any place to be quite like this. There's a deck in the backyard and a deck in the side yard. This year I don't have any, but in previous years I had five herbs and then the year before that I had a tomato plant outdoors and I took care of that. We don't have activities here except we do tai-chi for 5 minutes a day. The caregiver turns on YouTube of tai-chi, which is good. I do my own activities, I do my own exercise. I'm on the iPad about half of every day. It's very upscale. It's beautiful inside and beautiful outside."

"I like that Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living caters to individuals who live there. I'm a football freak, and they said, 'We don't have a football group, but I'm sure that a lot of people would be interested in joining it if you wanted to start this kind of thing.' They have raised gardens that are waist-high. They had some people who had no idea how to do gardening, so they teamed them up with those who knew. We had had a huge snowstorm; however, the person who was supposed to do their snow plowing didn't show up. So Wilshire Estates went out, including the owners, and shoveled sidewalks so that people could drive in without issues. That impressed me. They not only cared for the people who live there, but they also cared for their employees. They provide everything. The only thing I would have to do is pay for my own phone and wash my clothes. If you can't wash your clothes, they have people that will do it for you. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lunch is the biggest meal, and at dinnertime, they usually have sandwiches or something light. I seemed to connect with the person who was selling the place. Even though it was expensive, I was impressed. The unit that I was looking at had just been vacated. The staff said they would clean everything from top to bottom, and when they become available, they would do upgrades, too."
