"We saw different rooms at Whitlock Place where different activities were offered. They have 1-bedrooms, 2-bedrooms, and studio apartments. It isn't as brand new as other facilities, but it was very nice and exceptional, so we were very impressed."

"I like that Digby Place was a smaller community, and the residents would get more attentive care. The one thing I don't like is the fact that everybody has to sit 6 feet away by themselves; one person per table. The staff during the tour was very helpful and very informative. They have a salon, courtyard, small library, and small living room or gathering place. It was definitely clean."

" BeeHive Homes of Lafayette was very nice. Like many of the Beehives, it's more of a home. It was like an open concept where you had the dining area, and then the kitchen off of it. The room came off around on the outside of the dining area. Then you have the living room area just off of the kitchen and the dining area. It was a real nice way that it was designed. It mimics a home environment. One of the staff members was painting the nails of a patient; I thought that was nice. It seemed very homey. It wasn't a facility, so with it being a home environment, I liked that. It was very nice, very clean, and it didn't have any bad odors. Everybody was well cared for. You look for those things when you're going in: If everybody is well-groomed, do they look nice, does it smell nice, are the rooms well-kept and all of those things. In their backyard, they had garden boxes that were up high so that the patients that are in wheelchairs or the broda chairs could still garden with these boxes. They had flowers and some vegetable plants, and there were three or four of them. I thought what a nice thing, to provide for all of the residents, that they could go outside and be able to still participate in normal activities you would be able to do if you were at home; to get the pleasure out of watching plants grow and be able to pick flowers. They had a little gazebo that they could go under. They also have a big family room that families could come and have birthday parties or family celebrations there. I just really liked those aspects of it."

"No one wants to leave their own home, but if you or your loved one needs a safe family-like atmosphere, Autumn Glen is the new home for you. The activities and programs are entertaining and the food is delicious! The staff is outstanding, from the top down!!! You will get to know them all by name. So if your loved one is lonely, or needs some extra care because of their health, I would highly recommend Autumn Glen. My father and brother live at Autumn Glen, and I have felt confident knowing they were treated with respect and given outstanding care: physically and emotionally. Spiritual opportunities are an option as well. After a visit at AG, I walk out knowing they are in great hands!"

"I had an in-person tour of University Place, and it was an excellent tour. They were very kind, took a lot of time, and had patience with all our questions. It was a beautiful facility. It was definitely on the top of our list. The people seemed caring. The woman who gave us the tour knew all the patients by name and stopped and talked to them. I just thought that was kind. The rooms were beautiful, brand new, very clean, warm, and comfortable. The dining area looked nice. We saw their activities room. There were people playing games and sitting by a fireplace."

"I visited Lane House. I had no problem with them except that their rooms were double occupancy. Other people that I knew who had relatives there, and they liked it, but it would not fit the criteria that my father would want. They were OK, but it was not what we were looking for. The director gave us the tour and explained very well what their philosophy was, how things worked, how they did, and how many staff members they had. We were informed of what care you would be under. "

"My mother is currently a resident at Williamsburg and I could not be more happy with her care. The rooms are a nice size with plenty of room for both her and her roommate. They try to be very accommodating and try to match up residents that they think would be good together. The staff has been extremely caring and patient with all of her needs and even go above and beyond to make sure she has everything she needs. They answer lights in a timely manner. The facility is clean. As typical for most nursing homes, the rooms are kind of dull, but they encourage residents to make it homey by bringing in items from home to make it comfortable. Williamsburg has the typical activities daily to keep residents active and social. We visited all of the area nursing homes before making our decision for Williamsburg and one thing that was attractive to us was the fact that they have three separate meeting rooms for visitors to congregate when needed. That is a huge plus. We visited several nursing homes that did not have this option. Overall our experience has been very positive and we are happy with our decision of choosing Williamsburg. "

"My mother was a patient her and we found it to be the best place for her. She was treated very well by the staff. The food was great and the place had things to keep her mind off her problems. She liked playing Bingo, the sing alongs, and all the things she had missed. If you have a love one that needs special care, I truly would recommend coming here. By the way, the staff is #1 in our books."

"My brother is at Ben Hur Health & Rehabilitation. It's beautiful. It's got three porch areas that they can go and sit. The inside is clean and nice. It's really nice. The staff was very nice, considerate, and friendly. They're really great. The facility's overall condition is very clean, very well-kept and very nice. When we first took my brother in, they came in and asked him about the meal that night what he wanted. They were serving catfish, and that is just really unusual. The menu sounded wonderful. The dining room areas are pretty. They're really nice. They have a salon too. They have all kinds of things that they're going to be doing."

"Bickford of Lafayette was a very nice place. It's a very loving community with developing relationships among the residents and the staff. The staff who did the tour was extremely likable and she loved her job there and she knew each resident's name and spoke to them as they passed them in the hallway on our tour. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. I liked that they were able to bring their own furniture. I observed people with dementia counting M&M's and they were allowed to eat them. They were also separating them into groups. They were using their brain."

"My mother chose Crown Pointe because it had a very good reputation, she knew people that lived there, and it’s very homey. The staff is warm, welcoming, and dedicated. The layout has a cosy feeling, the food is tremendous, and they have a lot of activities, but my mom is not involved in that yet. They have exercise groups, go out on outings, and are doing a lot of holiday stuff. My mother loves Crown Pointe. "

"Homewood Health Campus was nice, but we didn't go with them because the rooms were just basically a hospital room instead of an apartment. The bathrooms had no vanity or storage for them to put makeup on or something, and the bedroom is not separate from the living space. But they have very nice facilities, and the place looked very nice. They showed us all the different activities going on. They sent us home with food. The lady who took us on the tour was very helpful."

"They have 2 units for patients with dementia. One is for those who wander and is a locked unit. The other is for those who can no longer walk. The staff is exceptionally caring and form relationships with each patient. No place is perfect, but I would feel very safe placing a loved one there. I work for a hospice and have visited many patients there on a weekly basis. "
