We chose Beehive Homes of Lafayette for mom because of availability. She is in the memory care. They are helpful and friendly. They have various activities, like morning exercises, crafts, and stuff like that. They have a small courtyard and a common dining area, but they don't really have many amenities as far as movie theaters or fitness rooms. As far as I've seen right now, it is super expensive. They don't do a whole lot.

BeeHive Homes of Lafayette was very nice. Like many of the Beehives, it's more of a home. It was like an open concept where you had the dining area, and then the kitchen off of it. The room came off around on the outside of the dining area. Then you have the living room area just off of the kitchen and the dining area. It was a real nice way that it was designed. It mimics a home environment. One of the staff members was painting the nails of a patient; I thought that was nice. It seemed very homey. It wasn't a facility, so with it being a home environment, I liked that. It was very nice, very clean, and it didn't have any bad odors. Everybody was well cared for. You look for those things when you're going in: If everybody is well-groomed, do they look nice, does it smell nice, are the rooms well-kept and all of those things. In their backyard, they had garden boxes that were up high so that the patients that are in wheelchairs or the broda chairs could still garden with these boxes. They had flowers and some vegetable plants, and there were three or four of them. I thought what a nice thing, to provide for all of the residents, that they could go outside and be able to still participate in normal activities you would be able to do if you were at home; to get the pleasure out of watching plants grow and be able to pick flowers. They had a little gazebo that they could go under. They also have a big family room that families could come and have birthday parties or family celebrations there. I just really liked those aspects of it.

My loved ones moved into Beehive Homes and I don't have any concerns thus far. I was very comfortable with their program and their staff when I was looking for a home. It's been only a short time, so I know I don't really have a comprehensive assessment of it, but so far, so good. In the past seven days I think I've gotten communication three times, so it's pretty regular as needed. It's been via text, some calls, and email. The room seems good and we were able to, when we moved him into the space, see that it was clean and comfortable. It has nice windows and is working out fine. The reason why I chose Beehive is that I really thought they did a good job at personalizing the care and not just trying to sell the facility to me, but really talking about what they offer and how, based upon my description of my loved one, which they would apply and adapt to him. I feel like the owner operator is very hands-on, very passionate, and knowledgeable. I feel like everyone's approachable. I'm really comfortable with the decision. I like that it's smaller. I like that they were the ones that said, "Oh, we could have him evaluated by a psychiatrist. We have the psychiatrist come here," when I was talking about some of my concerns. It's really good. They have spirituals, like church and activities with them singing. That's the one that I saw and that seemed engaging.

My Mom has lived at BeeHive Homes of Lafayette for the last 1 1/2 years. I cared for her in my home until I couldn't any longer. At BeeHive, she has a beautiful private room, with her own bathroom and individual heat/AC control. We were able to bring her own furniture so it really feels like her home. They provide increasing levels of assistance as the needs of residents increase. They offer a variety of activities (games, art projects, live entertainment and programs), have parties and decorate for holidays. Mom is especially fond of the minister that comes weekly to sing and tell stories about his large family. When representatives of the Zoo came to do a presentation they brought a snake. Although Mom has always hated snakes, but was thrilled to see the one they brought up-close. But there are two things that make BeeHive different. First, it's really a home. The living room and dining room are warm and inviting. Meals are served in the dining room for those who are able. Mom tells me they are very "tasty" and there is almost always ice cream available which is a big hit with her. And they buy her green grapes because she loves them. But whenever she wants, she can also go to her own very comfortable room. The other thing that makes BeeHive different is the staff. The management team really works to make sure they have the best help. They are not just staff. They are truly "care-givers". They spend quality one-on-one time with Mom. They do puzzles together, they let her "help" by setting the table or sweeping, or folding laundry when Mom really needs to "help". They are not just staff. They have become friends. To both Mom and me. They keep her safe. I am so grateful.

I am so glad we found Beehive Homes of Lafayette for our Mother's last years. They truly cared for and about her. Beehive catered to what Mom needed. They made sure all of her needs were met in the manner that was most comfortable for her. They treated her with respect and love. Beehive is truly a home environment, comfortable, attractive, safe, social, fun, so clean always and with lots of choices for each resident. Previously, Mom had been in a large, continuous care facility where she was ignored, even neglected. I am so grateful a care facility like Beehive exists! At Beehive, everyone treated Mom as an individual with her own preferences. And Beehive listened to her family too and allowed us to work together as a team giving Mom the best possible care. Beehive did a better job of caring for our Mom than I could have given her at home. I highly recommend Beehive Homes of Lafayette if you want the best care for yourself or your loved one.
