Independent Living Communities in Lafayette, IN

"I went to Westminster Village West Lafayette. They had lovely facilities. They had nice exercise equipment, large social rooms, a swimming pool, and a hot tub. The thing that I was struck with, too, was the way that they sized the dining room, so it allowed good access for people in chairs. The place where my dad is currently, they're so close together that it presents problems getting in and out of the cafeteria. However, the thing that I found that was not going to be good for my dad there at Westminster Village West Lafayette was that it was just too big of a facility and his ability to find his way would present challenges. It just was not a good fit for my father. It was just too big. The staff were responsive and affable. The place is very well maintained. We went into a room, it looked like it was brand new, even though it had been used. They did such a fine job of cleaning it up, it was hard to tell that anybody had ever been there. "

"This assisted living facility is modern and state of the art. The facility was visibly clean upon entering and the grounds were kept beautifully. On site there is a pond as well as a nature preserve with walking trails. The residents were well dressed, seemed content, and the lobby was full of visiting families. This is not usually the case at other retirement homes. One thing that particularly stood out to me was the pleasant smell. There was no "eau-de-old" smell. I visited the home for a weekend brunch. The dining area was very well maintained. It was almost as if you were being served at a fine dining establishment. There were linens on the table as well as proper flatware. This was quite a change from the other homes I have visited. Other homes use cafeteria or hospital style trays. The food was excellent. My friend and I enjoyed both breakfast and lunch items. There were mostly healthy, low sodium, whole grain items on the buffet. This was a nice touch. "

"My mom has been staying at Five Star Residences in Lafayette. We haven't had any real issues with them. I think the biggest issue now is that she is in the independent living part and she's in a cottage outside, so we're probably going to search for a place where she would be inside the facility, something she can eventually grow into a higher level of care, that is something they don't have at Five Star. They do have assisted living, but they don't have any nursing care or anything living forward. I think the staff is good, but they have a big turnover regularly, so we're always learning someone new. The food is good and she likes the chef right now, but they come and go as well. She's independent, so that's probably why I think they've done a good job at trying to keep the facility up and keep it moving. We don't have any true complaints about them. We've not had any issues with communication either, they're always available to talk to. The facility is also clean and tidy."

"We have my mother in Creasy Springs. We are very pleased with it. She has been adapting really well. I have really appreciated the care that they have given her. We have been very happy with it. There are constant activities going on. They take the residents on outings around the community to different places. My mother seems very pleased with the food too. Her room is spacious, it has all that she needs in there, and so we are happy with that too. They have an outdoor area. They will eventually plant some plants there."

"I toured Aster Place and it's a little newer place. It seems a little larger too and some units had a garage. They also have a fitness center that not all the other facilities have. They were very welcoming and everyone was very pleasant. You walked past people in the hallway and they all spoke to you. It was a very friendly place."

"I like Friendship House very much. The only thing about it was that they told me that I had too much money coming in to live there, and that's the part that really kind of ended our relationship. The layout was great. The staff and the residents were very friendly, so I enjoyed it. I wish I could have stayed there. It was great all over. The facility was excellent."
