"I toured Vitalia Active Adult Community North Olmsted. The staff was very nice, very accommodating, and very informative. I liked the food choices and the way that meals were set up, where they could do kinds of things on their own, but it would be much better for someone younger than my friend, being that she was 95 and couldn't really see a lot and can't get mobile herself, and she's kind of dependence on an attendant. The facility was very clean. It wasn't as social and kind of homey because they have availability to go around as they please, and my friend wasn't able to do that. They have that open room concept and she does not like that."

"Danbury North Ridgeville was very nice. I think if you have access to Veterans Assistance for housing, then it would work out, but if you don't, it's probably going to be too expensive for most elderly people. I only met one person who was a manager, and she was a nice lady. It's very clean, very well kept, and new. The size of the rooms is comparable to what I'm used to living in. It's about 1400 to 1500 square feet, and that's fine for two people with a garage. That works out very well."

"Everything at Normandy was very nice. They had a variety of amenities, rooms, and garage parking. They had buses, and free, scheduled trips. The cost was on the high side."

"My mom is currently in Vitalia Senior Residences at Strongsville. It has been good. The first day that we were there when we dropped her off, I had to wait a little while, but with Covid and everything, I sort of understand that. I think it's going to be a good fit for her. They're very clean and very pleasant. It has taken us a while to get all the furniture in because I had to order a new chair for her, but they have been very helpful. My mom was involved in some activities the first day, but it is hard to know what's going on now. Yesterday, she wasn't just feeling her best, so I think she spent more time in her room. I think this is going to be a good place for her. It's a nice new facility. The people that I had worked with had been very pleasant. However, in a way, I feel I need to be with them a little longer before I can get a true picture. We haven't had that many experiences. Also, it's so hard to talk to my mom because the place that she was previously at hasn't returned her phone yet. I have to try and talk to her through the window, so it's just really frustrating. My mom has just gotten there, so she hasn't had the chance to do too many activities. They have a spa where they would take them and wash their hair, and she is definitely interested in that. Her room has a high ceiling and neutral paint. I thought it looked really pretty."

"My father was at Mount Alverna Village. When he was there, he did get excellent care. They were very attentive and very knowledgeable medical-wise. They took really good care of him. Well, my dad didn't participate in anything. The only thing my dad did was go to Mass every morning, so I don't really know what they provide. The food was very good. You could tell it was home-cooked, and it was really good food. The dining room was small, but I think they did that on purpose so people can socialize. It was clean, and it had a very nice homey atmosphere. "

"We toured Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community. We viewed everything. The directors toured us around. We saw the availalble apartments and things of that nature. Everything was very nice, and we enjoyed our visit with them. They have a lot of activities for male seniors. They have a men's group there to help men bond with other men because the population is usually more female to male when it comes to seniors, so they try to help out the men who live there as well."

"Everyone on the staff is friendly with the exception of the kitchen staff, who are efficient but seem unfriendly/unhappy. The overall atmosphere is positive and supportive, and the facility is bright, clean and open feeling. As a daily visitor, it was quite apparent that more aides were much needed, as call button wait times were often in excess of 40 minutes and front desk assistance was sometimes enlisted to get a response for urgent needs. Nursing staff and aides were great, very warm and encouraging. Administrative staff were frequently difficult to access. The executive director was very helpful and kind and responsive to our concerns"

"We liked it and, if we choose to move forward, that’s the facility we would probably move my mom in. They had daily activities that vary from dance and crafts; they had a lot of different activities. She would have her own apartment. They share bathrooms, but you have a choice. You can have your own individual apartment, or she can have a shared bathroom. It’s nice and you could bring your own furniture. We liked the facility. It’s very clean, the staff was really friendly, and it’s very secure. It’s a nice facility for my mom. "

"Myers Apartments is on Cedar Road. They're an independent living facility, and they share the swimming pool and the grounds with another facility. If my brother started at Myers Apartments in independent living, but he got ill, he could then be transferred over to that facility. We all saw the apartment that my brother would have. It was very, very nice, and he had a nice patio. The only reason he is not going to go there is that it's $1,500. It's out of his budget, although they take Section 8 now. They were willing to assist with the paperwork. In the meantime, he would have to pay the $1,500 until they approved the Section 8. They have excellent staff. It was a wonderful facility. We got to take the lunch, and it was a very good diet that they have going. The food is prepared right there, and it was excellent. It is not inclusive, so it is charged to your room, and you pay for that in your rent monthly. It's like an apartment. It has the kitchen, the one bedroom, a living area, and a little, but very nice patio. It has eight libraries. They provide the laundry service, or he could do it himself. There was no additional charge for the laundry. His room is right around the corner from the laundry service. They have a little store in the facility. They have their own little greenhouse. I loved the greenhouse. They have a nice outdoor patio for everyone because they provide weekly get-togethers."

"We did a tour of the independent living community of Hilltop Village in Euclid. The person who gave the tour showed us where everything was. She was pretty good and decent. She explained everything pretty well. We went and looked at the apartment first, and it would have been a good place for my husband to go. It's just the way things were set up. Even with him getting the waiver program, they said if he took the whole thing and used it to pay for the apartment, he'd only have $50 left out of his paycheck from the government. The price wasn't too bad, but there was all that extra he would have had to pay, like electricity, cable, internet, and insurance. He would also have to have an aide come in there a couple of times a week, because they didn't have anything for assisted living yet. They were working on that, so that's something that they're going to do in the future, but not right now. There's a stove and refrigerator in the room. They also have a laundry room. They had a whole list of all the things they would charge you extra for. If you wanted housekeeping, it was an extra hundred dollars a month. If you want extra meals, something that was outside of what they would make, it would also cost you. If you wanted somebody to do your laundry, there were also little charges for that. It was an older apartment building, but they were working on making some improvements. They have no parking there. Everything was for the residents. We had to turn around, go down the hill, and walk up the hill to go to the office because there was nowhere near the office for people to park."
