"We checked Vitalia Active Adult Community North Olmsted. It's way too far out and way too much traffic; but otherwise, it was absolutely gorgeous. They have wonderful staff, wonderful facility, and beautiful apartments. It would have been a perfect place for my parents if it was not too far out. They have another assister building not too far away that is a skilled nursing home, but it's not on the same site. We would have physically had to move my parents about 10 miles for the next step down. They are connected to each other literally through a walkway. They actually have not officially opened their assisted living yet. There are only two people living in that facility right now because they were waiting for their license to get there. Then they have seven others to move in there, and then they have lots of rooms available. We did get to tour it, but they weren't going to be ready for more people to move into like the beginning of September. As far as their full meals, the kitchen was not up yet. The residents that were living there were in the assisted living side. It's a brand new building, and they have just finished building it. They had two people on that side working full time: a nurse and a nurse's assistant. They had an activities person over there working right now. We met everybody that was there at the time, and they were fantastic. The distance is the problem; it is way too far, and it is really in the middle of nowhere. It literally is on the North Olmstead-Westlake border. The problem is it's in the middle of a MetroPark, and there's really nothing that they could walk to to do anything. There's a very busy road that runs right past it."

"The man who toured me at The Normandy was very nice, but not familiar with everything. The facility is very nice, but I cannot afford it. I saw an apartment, and it has a living room and one large bedroom with a beautiful bathroom. I saw some ladies knitting. They have restaurant style dining, and they don’t accommodate special dietary needs. I like that it’s near the lake, and they offer transportation. "

"Danbury North Ridgeville had a nice layout, but it was too expensive. The staff was very nice. The facility was extremely clean and organized. The sizes of the rooms were adequate. The dining area was like restaurant-style."

"When we walked into Vitalia Senior Residences at Strongsville, it was like a five-star hotel. The assisted living rooms were like apartments that had wreaths hung out on their doors, and it was very bright and cheery. They were just beautiful. The people we met were very, very nice. The chef came in with a platter of fruit and cheeses, and because it was the first one I looked at, we were sold on the studio that was on the first floor that had a little door to walk out onto a patio. However, the more I thought about it, I didn't know if the studio was fine because everything was in the same room. They had a pool inside the place though, an exercise room, a theater room where they hold virtual masses on TV, a library, physical therapy, and a dining room that was like a restaurant where you order off a menu. It was just beautiful."

"Vitalia Active Adult Community at North Royalton was beautiful. We toured the whole place and saw the assisted living and memory care. It was all brand new, and everyone was very helpful and very informative. We had one girl that gave us a tour, and two girls that sat down with us for a meeting for about an hour. They were all very knowledgeable and very friendly. The apartments looked like they would accommodate the residents nicely. Their dining area was also very nice."

"I've signed a contract to move to StoryPoint Strongsville. They are preparing a room for me on the first floor. They're going to try to make the cabinet in the bathroom smaller so I can swing my legs around to get in my wheelchair easier. They're accommodating my situation. I was very impressed. The dining room was very nice. It's a 29-year-old building that they completely renovated and made it look like brand new. The landscaping is new. The windows are all new. Everything is brand new. The roof and furnaces are new. The bus is brand new. They also have a facility where I can walk in a pool, which is gonna make me very happy. It's independent, but I am told that they have three or four aides. I will have one aide six times a day if I needed that much to get me up, get my shoes and socks and pants on. I will need them twice a week to help me take a bath. The apartment I looked at was on the second floor, but the one I'm going to be moving in is a tad smaller on the first floor and the rent is cheaper on the first floor. I'll be very close to the front door. I'll be down the hall from the lady that helped me out at StoryPoint. I fell in love with the place. I think I'm going to be very happy. My friend and I liked it very much. Most of my furniture is in their garage area storage facility and they're not charging me for it. I don't think they have as many of a staff serving, but it's a smaller group of people. The food I had was good. The problem was they only have one elevator instead of two and I was very happy that they're going to put me on the first floor rather than the second floor."

"The room at Mt. Alverna Village was a little bit small, and it was very expensive. Once you move up to memory care, it would be way out of our budget. The food tasted better than some other places. I saw the independent living, but they had assisted living in the same building. The staff was very knowledgeable and thorough. It was a good facility."

"The tour we had at Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community was very nice. The young lady that I worked with was so sweet. She made me feel comfortable. I had some questions that she said she would look into for me and she also told me, "You can come here and join us for things. If you want, I'll send you a calendar when things go on and you could come and join us." I thought that was nice. It's modern. They didn't have a lobby or a place where people could go outside of their rooms. All they had in the middle of it that I saw was their dining area. There weren't a lot of rooms like seating rooms and things like a lot of them have. They said there was a library on another floor, but I didn't see it. The food was awesome. They offered me lunch. The menus were very good. I had an omelet and it was very good. They have a bakery and things, restaurant style, where you can just go and get something all day whenever you want. The chef is good. They gave me strawberries, and they were fresh and so good."

"The staff at Richmond Heights Place was lovely. They greeted me in the lobby and asked me who I wanted to see, and then asked me to have a seat. The atmosphere of the place was so beautiful, just sitting in the lobby and looking out the window. One side of it was closed in like a patio. When I started the tour, I saw the entire facility and it was beautiful. The only thing about it was I would have to supply my furniture. I saw the residents doing crafts and some were playing bingo. And when it was time to eat, the dining room doors opened and everybody was in line. The dining room was beautiful. It was immaculate. If I had the funds, that's where I would want to go."

"I visited Hilltop Village. The 1-bedroom was nice, and the 2-bedroom had common areas in-between which were also nice. They had places where the residents could meet and have services, they had a small workout room, a large dining hall, and an activity scheduled every day. They also have activities off-campus."

"I looked an empty apartment here, and the lady who assisted me said she had already rented it to someone but said she would put me on the waiting list. They had an assisted living and a nursing home. The attendants were nice to me, and the workers seemed to be alright. The apartment she showed me was an older apartment, but it was clean and freshly painted. They have a beautiful dining room downstairs. She said if I had a government apartment that I would have to buy my own food and when the bus went to the grocery store, I would be able to get on it. They have technicians to help you in the training room for your exercises. They go on field trips 2 or 3 times a month. They had a community room, and they were playing cards; some people were reading. It was nice and clean. Everybody was required to have one meal a day in the dining room."

"Vitalia Highland Heights is a brand-new facility. They just opened. I was very impressed with the independent living quarters that they offered. There were two spaces available. There are two bedrooms with a nice large living area and a kitchen that has everything. I know that if I wanted to, I could cook and bake there. There's a seating area in the kitchen. You don't have to have a dining room table, but it's big enough that you could have people sit down there on both sides. You could probably get maybe 4 or 5 people sitting in this area. They have beautiful two bathrooms that are bigger than what I'm living in right now. They have a washer and dryer, which is very important to me. The price is OK. I think they want $4005 or somewhere around there, maybe close to $5000 a month. They offer a lot of bus trips and typical things. They have a pool. They have everything. They have invited me twice now to come for lunch and their food is excellent. If you have a car, they have a covered parking area and that's $75 a month. That's high, and all it does is that there's a parking area where everybody parked right next to each other. You just have a roof over the outdoors. It's not an enclosed garage."
