Independent Living Communities in Maple Grove, MN

"The staff at RidgePointe of Minnetonka was very friendly and we liked the fact that they had 24/7 personnel at the desk all the time. We will be choosing that place above other places because they have food available. They have a continental breakfast, they have lunch available, and then dinner Monday through Thursday. A lot of the other places didn't have that much food available and I was just looking for the food availability primarily and we decided that that was more important than some of the other things that we were looking for, like a balcony and so forth. The apartments looked spacious enough. The bathroom had a cutout tub so they could just walk into the bathtub and take a shower. There was an in-apartment storage area so that we could store things there in the apartment. It's a one-bedroom. They have a lot of things like exercise classes, lectures, and things that I'd be interested in. I know they have card games going on. I don't know if I am doing that. They have a library that has newspapers and books and so forth. There's an atrium that is nice for the winter to go down and sit where there's a lot of plants and palm trees and stuff like that. They have 24- hour coffee and tea, hot chocolate, and lemonade available. They come and clean your apartment once a week. They clean your kitchen and bathroom and vacuum."

"Augustana Chapel View was very nice and very clean. The meals were well prepared and seemed like they had a lot to offer. The staff was very nice. The gentleman that I met with was very nice, very receptive, and very willing to help. The rooms were all double rooms. Some people were sitting in the central area where they were having a news program and different readings. They had activities, an exercise room, occupational and physical therapy, and speech therapy. "

"I went to check out Elim Shores' independent living section for my mom. It's in a great location, very clean, pleasant and quiet place. It had everything we were looking for, adequate room with a kitchen, great space for a bedroom. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a board that shows all the different activities that are going on. It would definitely be a place that I would consider when we come down to making that decision. "

"I liked everything about Brookdale Edina. The people I know who know people there had no complaints. The apartment was lovely. I liked the fact that it is connected to an indoor park that has 400 plants and trees, so my brother can enjoy the winter. I liked the dining room situation. I liked the fact that if by 10:00 in the morning he hasn't hit the little button, someone will come check on him. I feel it's a very safe place. The amenities that go with renting an independent apartment are fabulous. At this point, I have nothing to say negative about what I saw. I was comfortable with it right away. It has a lot to do with the woman who talked with us, and the first time my husband and I went and answered questions on text. We went down there on Monday morning for my brother to see it, and he was very hesitant to move from a little country town up here, but by last night he had thought it over a lot and he has agreed. The staff we met was very nice. A lady who lives there said, "Oh, you'll just love it here." This was on her own spontaneity. I think the facilities they have with the exercising, the films, and the activities were just wonderful. Whether my brother takes part in all of them, the fact that he could, and maybe in time he will, that is very good. It's just so all-inclusive in everything we would need. We saw arts and crafts, the exercise room, which had very good equipment, where they show movies, the dining room, and we saw the menu. We've seen this all two times. We had an apple pie and it was good. The facility was very clean."

"I liked Havenwood of Richfield really well. I just didn't like it being on the other side of the river from me. The rooms were quite spacious, but the kitchens were probably a third of what the apartment was. For a one-bedroom apartment, it is kind of ridiculous to have the kitchen be so huge when they're providing two meals a day. I just felt that they could have had more living space. The living room/dining area was tiny. There was no living space. It's all kitchen. Everything was clean, neat, and well-organized. The staff was very friendly. Their social activities director's dad lived there. I think that's a pretty awesome statement that the staff would want or have their family members living there."

"My mother-in-law has moved into Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood. It has nice amenities, lots of activities, a church, and a rosary. We like the restaurant-style dining and the large apartment for her walker, so she can get around with her walker. She's still considered independent, but she does get checked on. I haven't interacted with anyone yet, just one person, but she was nice. She has a one-bedroom apartment and it's nice and big, and it was clean when we got there. The inside looks nice and maintained."

"As far as I was concerned, everything about Villas at Pleasant Avenue II was very nice, and they were very helpful. I wouldn't mind living there. I really liked it. I liked the way the kitchen was set up. I liked the way the rooms were set up."

"Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Everyone had a smile. All the residents seemed very content and only had good things to say about the facility. Facility was very peaceful and relaxed. All in all a pleasant place to be."

"The tour I had at Lofts on Rose went good. The person who did the tour was quite nice. I didn't see too many other residents around at the time. There were a few people outside, but I didn't know if they lived there or not. The upkeep was good. They were pretty good-sized rooms. They have a gym on the top floor. I was mainly looking for a place that was comfortable and convenient, but the two-and-a-half-hour drive down and two-and-a-half-hour drive back home wore me out."

"Benedictine Windermere Way is a fairly new place. My daughter-in-law's mother enjoys it very much. It's very well done and it is very comfortable. It had excellent people running it. The staff was competent and the activities were excellent. As part of their COVID protocols, you have to wear a mask, put antiseptic on your hands, and keep distance from the people. So, they are very cautious with that."

"My mom will move into Oakdale Commons. When my mom and I were there, she just fell in love with the apartments because they had a nice little patio, a walk-in shower, and it had its own washer and dryer. They had a gym. They also had a conference room. They also had a kitchen area, where you could have guests come over and stay. Outside, they have a nice little area where you can sit and gather, and they have a gas fireplace out there. They also had little garden plots where you could plant tomatoes or flowers. Another thing that my mom liked was underground parking. The lady who gave us a tour went out of her way for us, and she was very friendly. I liked her a lot."

"Ecumen would rate quite high because it is one of our favorites. It was a good location for us. It was quite a new facility and has up-to-date amenities that you would expect. They had a range of villas, but the apartments were really good. The staff and their availability was one of the things that we were concerned about, and Ecumen seemed good in that regard. We live quite close by, and it is in a kind of new development area. The basic amenities were very good. They had some social type things like playing cards and computer rooms and equipment that one could use. The main drawback would be this one was very high on the price range. "

"SilverCreek on Main is a new, clean, very nice, and friendly facility. The dining area was good. The staff was very nice. My overall observation and feeling about it was very good. The price was comparable to everything else that I’ve encountered in the area. "

"Arbor Lakes was the one we put our name in. I found the staff very helpful. They took us up and showed us a unit that was empty (it was going to be filled the next day) so it was nice to be able to see one of the units. It’s a relatively new facility, so everything of course is fairly up to date. I would say we were favorably impressed that we signed our name. We didn’t put money down but we are on a waiting list. They have good lighting in the units. There are a lot windows and every unit faces outside and half of it faces a small lake. But things change and people have to go to a different level of care. That’s what we would like: to be able to go to independent living and then transition when we have to. There they have a beauty salon and fitness center, and they provide brunch -- which is a very complete meal -- from eight to ten, and then you can purchase other meals. The one brunch is included in the rent. The place is homey, very warm, and inviting. It’s also very close to quite a large shopping area. "
