"We toured Rose Arbor & Wildflower Lodge. We were impressed with the welcoming staff. The director demonstrated care for our concerns and needs for our family. Our questions were thoroughly answered. We were pleasantly surprised by how updated the apartments were. The residents were engaged, and we could see our family members there in the future. We were looking at one-bedroom apartments in particular. There are no balconies, but they have just been redone. They're fresh and new, and have a call button in more than one room. The whole place has recently been refurbished, so it's quite nice. We noticed a very nice common meeting room where a concert took place, and the residents enjoyed it, as well as a dining room with tables for conversations and meals."

"Havenwood of Maple Grove was very airy, light, white, and open compared to the other two places I went that had more darker wood. I believe they're only a year old, so they have a lot of availability. We toured both assisted living and independent. The tour guy was good. The layout was more dispersed, but they had laundry in their units. They didn't have a pool table though, which was kind of a big thing for my mother's friend."

"We had my mom ready to go into Cornerstone Assisted Living, but we'd have to put her into memory care there. Having seen other memory cares, it's probably the best one but that's a drastic change, and it's not an environment I would want to put my mother in at this point. It's a very nice community, and the assisted living was beautiful. We toured the assisted area where they have a dining area, a solarium and activities. It was very nice. My mom would have to be sent down into the lower level, which they lock up unless family comes. It's a newer community, but the memory care rooms were pretty small, which my mother doesn't like. They also wouldn't allow pets, and that was a big deal for her too, and that was probably the last straw for her. From what I understand, it's normal for any memory care community."

"The rooms are older and small. The care is moderately good. The biggest complaint is that we purchased new comfortable clothing for him and within a week all but one item we purchased “disappeared” never to be seen again. They also “lost” a sweatshirt that was very dear to him. It is obvious that they randomly distribute clothing to other patients as we often arrived and he was wearing items that were not his own. I would be very wary of this place."

"Havenwood of Buffalo is good. The amenities are the same. The difference is that it is probably the most expensive of all the facilities I have toured for the same amenities that you get for $1,000 or even $2,000 in other places. They had standard apartments. The upkeep was nice. No complaints about anything. The dining area was the same as everybody else's. I was there on the weekend, so the sales director was not in. One of the nurses in the facility volunteered and gave me a tour. They didn't have any open units, so she went and found one of the residents who was willing to open her apartment so I could tour that. They went out of their way to be nice in other words."

"My father-in-law will be moving into Ridgepointe Senior Living. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The rooms were great, and spacious, and had great views, good windows, and great floor plans. There were multiple dining areas and they were all great. There was an atrium in the center that connected the buildings, and that was unique and lovely. The formal dining area looked a little bit older but very comfy. The grounds were beautiful with mature trees. I saw some residents playing cards, and there were multiple areas to do different activities."

"We chose Covenant Living of Golden Valley. We liked how happy everyone was, the involvement of people in the community, and the interactions that people had with each other. The residents were just interactive, happy, and welcoming. It just depends which room you get. Some have laundry, some don't, and it depends on the size of the room. But one thing about them, there's a buy-in option, but you can redecorate your room how you want it before you move in."

"I'm going to move into Chapel View Senior Health & Living Senior Living Community. It's independent and assisted living, and it also has a long-term care component attached. It's comfortable looking, and it's welcoming. There's a person at the desk that can help you. It looks clean. I will be in a one-bedroom unit. This is an older building, but the bathroom is equipped for a walker or wheelchair use. The doorways are wide. There's adequate storage. It's upgraded. The staff during the tour was wonderful and very accommodating. The staff at the front desk was very accommodating, too. I looked at a couple of different units. I can purchase meals if I want. They have a garden group and a Bible group. They have church services here. They have different card games. They have movie time, crafting, and outings. They have a vehicle that can take people to activities outside of the building. The bus also takes you to the grocery store."

"Elim Shores is a very nice place. It's moderately priced, and it also has senior waivers, which a lot of places do not have. If a senior runs out of money, they throw you out. This place does not do that. The staff is very nice, caring, helpful, cheerful, and efficient. Even the residents are nice. I live in the East Coast; the Midwest is a much different world. The facility is also clean. Being at Elim Shores seems to work out for my mom, financially, and you just get a sense that it's a good place. "I went to tour the Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood. The staff was pushing my aunt more into a deeper level of memory care than she needed, and I wasn't happy about that. The rooms were big and they had a washer and dryer in the apartments. They had very nice grounds. This facility is actually very nice and big."

"The tour I had at Lofts on Rose went good. The person who did the tour was quite nice. I didn't see too many other residents around at the time. There were a few people outside, but I didn't know if they lived there or not. The upkeep was good. They were pretty good-sized rooms. They have a gym on the top floor. I was mainly looking for a place that was comfortable and convenient, but the two-and-a-half-hour drive down and two-and-a-half-hour drive back home wore me out."

"I toured the Villas at Pleasant Avenue II. They were smaller than the other facility, the apartment size, but they were brand new. They were nice. They were very clean. My friend did not like that the living room at the Villas was not carpeted. The staff who gave the tour was nice. However, she seemed to want to hurry us out of there."

"Benedictine Windermere Way is a fairly new place. My daughter-in-law's mother enjoys it very much. It's very well done and it is very comfortable. It had excellent people running it. The staff was competent and the activities were excellent. As part of their COVID protocols, you have to wear a mask, put antiseptic on your hands, and keep distance from the people. So, they are very cautious with that."

"My mother-in-law is in Heritage Place. We chose it for the friendliness and the people there. We liked the size of the room. It's well kept, just exactly what we needed, and the cost was a big factor. They have an activity room, they have coffee, they play bingo, they bring in food occasionally, and connect with the senior center in Rogers for other activities."

"The Legacy of Saint Michael Senior Living was excellent. They have great food. They have good programs in place. Their apartments looked very adequate. They provide around-the-clock nursing care. The dining staff was very friendly and the lady who took us on our tour knew what she was talking about. They were very good to me. It's very expensive; that's its downfall."

"I toured Riverview Landing - Otsego, and I will be moving to their assisted living in a week. It's just one big building with four floors, and I will be in a little apartment on the fourth floor. Meals are included if you pay extra. The place looks clean, as far as I can tell right now. The person who showed me around was very nice. She's the only one I've met, and she's very good. They have a pool and a pickleball court. They also have activities and take the residents to outings."

"We’ve placed mother in Engel Haus. It has been very good. She does have her own apartment. Because the facility was new, the apartments are extremely clean, and it made it a little bit easier for her to meet new people. The staff is very caring, and they go out of their way to involve the people in the activities. They have coffee and cookies every afternoon at 2 o’clock. They have Wii bowling and sing-alongs. They’ve had local community actors come in. They’re doing a talent show. "

"My mother is here. I like that she is very well taken care of, so there aren't any worries. The rooms are very nice and clean with a bathroom and a separate dining area, and she has a window. It is nice and cheerful. The food looks OK. She gets a well-balanced diet with meat, vegetables, a little butter, and dessert. "

"My father has moved into Elk River Senior Living. I thought it was a nice place. There seems to be a lot of good staff and they have a lot of activities and it was close to me. He's in memory care. They have four-plate settings per table and they set a nice table with a goblet and a coffee cup and everything. They only have one choice of the meal though. They have a beauty salon, a theater room, and an activity room. It was so expensive, but I think it's a very nice, neat, and homey facility. There's a lot of help and they seem to always be on the ball and always seem to be around."
