"We chose Vernon Terrace Senior Living Community for my aunt because of the location and cost; it is less expensive. The room was nice. Everything was clean and in good condition. Their food is variable; sometimes it is good; sometimes it is kind of mediocre. For the price -- and comparing it to the cost of other facilities, especially the condition of the facility -- nothing looks rundown. "

"My father in law was admitted to the memory care unit on the third floor. I was impressed by the website and took a tour of the facility so I would know exactly what care he would be receiving. I was really impressed when I first walked in. It was a clean and friendly environment. I noticed it was decorated in subdued soothing colors and the staff was friendly. I took a tour of all the floors and the patients all seemed to be happy. I viewed the rooms and also the main dining area. I noticed the staff called the patients by name and were very hands on when it came to their needs. The therapy he received was excellent. He is able to walk better then when he was first admitted. He agreed to speech therapy for the first time and tried to use the tools they gave him. It was the first time I had seen him smile and joke with the staff. I felt comfortable he was receiving three meals a day and was encouraged to eat in the main dining area. Not only did the staff take care of him but also was very aware of the well being of my mother in law who had been the main care giver. I would strongly recommend this facility to anyone. I visited several times during his stay and at different times during the day. Way to go Walker Staff! I can't say how wonderful you were and will be always grateful for the care he received there. "

"The Waters was one of the high-end places we saw. It basically has apartments instead of rooms, you get a full, functional apartment with a full kitchen. They have just about everything, including a advanced work-out equipment. It's laid out nice and it's in a convenient location from the highway. Some of the food is good, some is not good, but the specials have been pretty good. The staff was nice, but one of the nurses messed up my mom's meds."

"The staff at Presbyterian Homes really seem to care about the well-being of my elderly relatives. They know them by name and recognize me as a granddaughter, and are able to remain very professional while giving very personalized care to my grandparents. My grandmother has memory loss and can be a bit difficult to deal with at times, but the staff has never-ending patience with her. Presbyterian Homes facilities have above-average quality food for their residents and try to provide every amenity possible to create the "comforts of home". "

"Summit Place was a very fancy place with exercise equipment, and exercise room, and big apartments. They were expensive, but they had lots of activities, bus tours, trips to grocery stores, oil painting, jewelry, reading, and book club. The location was beautiful right off the freeway. They had two pool: a salt pool for soaking or healing and a regular, heated, Olympic-sized pool. They had a nice dining room with a nice menu, but we did not eat there. They had a happy hour every day from 3 to 5 and separate bars and rooms for that. However, I did not like their paint and decoration. They had dark grey upper walls and the bottom part was green. The carpeting was dark. "

"Friendship Village of Bloomington offers everything, but I don't know how anybody can pay $6000 a month. It just was so expensive, and they didn't tell us how much it was until the end. There were a lot of very nice things there. They had a saltwater swimming pool and a gym. They didn't show us any room. They had a snack bar. There were probably things you could buy that would fill you up. The building is newer. It was a beautiful spot. It was fancy."

"I am thinking of moving to Amira Choice Bloomington. It's brand new, it's upscale, it's very nice. The staff was very friendly and they have a lot of activities. It just seemed to be a nice place that I would be happy at. There's an exercise room on every floor, they also have garbage and recycling on every floor. I will have my own balcony, which is a considerable size, my own laundry facilities, and big walk-in closets. I just met the receptionist, because this place is manned 24 hours so there's always somebody there. And she was a young girl, but very, very friendly and outgoing, and the sales manager is a very outgoing young guy too. I also met the recreation director and they were very nice. It all looked very nice because it's brand new. But they had lots of places where you could sit and visit with somebody else, or be by yourself if you want to, so you didn't have to stay in your unit."

"All in all I had a very good experience at St. Marys. The facility was fairly nice, i think it was pretty old. The location was great, right by a nice pond and walking path. All of the residents seemed very happy there. The staff was very helpful and good with the residents. I actually had the oppurtunity to eat there and the food was delicious. I wonder who the chef was because he really knew how to cook a flank steak. It was so tender. "
