"The staff was very knowledgeable and very nice at The Wellstead. The facility was very clean. The rooms were gorgeous. They have real plan in place to keep residents up and moving. The facility was bigger, so it was not as personal but still very nice. All of the people seemed to be really happy, clean, and smell good. They had many activities, physical therapists, speech therapists, and counselors."

"Havenwood of Maple Grove seemed very nice. They didn't have the unit that I wanted available. So, I kind of didn't go back there. The rooms were nice. There were some things that I didn't like. There weren't many closets. I didn't meet very many people, but the person who gave the tour was very nice. It was clean."

"Rose Arbor & Wildflower Lodge looked quite nice, but there was more care than we needed, so it was too expensive. The rooms, the grounds, activities, and the dining area looked really good. I would say the atmosphere was upscale, homey, and comfortable. "

"I looked at three apartments at Havenwood of Minnetonka. I visited primarily for independent living, but I was looking for continuous care going forward. For me, it's in a very good location. There's a grocery store, there's a bank, there's a hardware store, and there are restaurants. It's just very, very convenient for me who is accustomed to living on the western edge of Minneapolis. The first impression when you walk in is that it is a new building. It's very clean and it's tastefully decorated in the public areas. The apartments are smaller compared to what I'm living in now, but I'm ready to accept that in the future. I only met with two people. I met with one who gave me the tour and then the gal who was at the front desk. They're very accommodating and answered all my questions, plus they gave me more information, not just what I'd asked about."

"The rooms are older and small. The care is moderately good. The biggest complaint is that we purchased new comfortable clothing for him and within a week all but one item we purchased “disappeared” never to be seen again. They also “lost” a sweatshirt that was very dear to him. It is obvious that they randomly distribute clothing to other patients as we often arrived and he was wearing items that were not his own. I would be very wary of this place."

"We chose Covenant Living of Golden Valley. We liked how happy everyone was, the involvement of people in the community, and the interactions that people had with each other. The residents were just interactive, happy, and welcoming. It just depends which room you get. Some have laundry, some don't, and it depends on the size of the room. But one thing about them, there's a buy-in option, but you can redecorate your room how you want it before you move in."

"St. Benedict is an older facility; it’s been there for 15 or 20 years, but it was OK. It does have most of the amenities that I’m looking for, but the availability to get into the place was tough. My dad has been in this place before, but he was in the assisted area, and they took pretty good care of him there; that’s why I went up to see this place. The independent is one meal three times a week unless you wanted more; then you have to pay for more. In the independent part, they have their own dining room but the assisted one everyday had three meals a day. "

"I haven't been down to the Willows Landing a whole lot, but they seem to be very, very active with my parents and have been helping out a lot in their apartment and stuff like that. So, I think they've been very helpful. They are in the memory care. It's very clean and organized. They provide house cleaning, laundry, and meals, and then do stuff in the community. They have a garden patio. They do haircuts. They have a community area for everybody. The staff is fine doing their job. They seem to have a full calendar all the time. The cost is quite comparable and the care has been very good."

"I have a senior waiver from the county, so they do come in and they help me with cleaning and laundry. I have my own nice size apartment with a living room, small kitchen, and quite a large bedroom. They have a few activities, but they don’t bother you to join -- they do invite you though. They just switched management and we got a very good deal with the new man in charge. It’s a beautiful building. If anyone were looking for a senior apartment I certainly would recommend this place. They have a therapist and exercises four times a week. They have an exercise room and an equipment room. They have different public rooms such as a library and a theatre room with a big screen TV and comfortable reclining chairs. It’s right on the Mississippi River and right outside my window I can sit and watch the swans all winter. The grounds are kept very pretty and there is a nice patio with lots of plants. "

"We toured Legacy of Delano. They were very engaged. The staff were very friendly. I enjoyed visiting with the residents. They seemed to have a nice social interaction thing going on, and I like that. They have excursions. However, it did not have some of the things that are on our wish list. For example, they don't have covered parking, heated parking, or anything like that. Nevertheless, I like the community, and I love how close it is to us. The dining area was nice. They have some accommodations for people that need meals, which is good, too. I want to get to the point where my parents don't have to cook and do some of those things, but I like to have the option that there's somewhere in the building where they could get something to eat and not have to leave. The rooms were nice but small. The staff is doing a good job with what they do. I don't have anything negative to say about the staff. They were awesome. They were friendly, informative, and fun. They took a lot of time with me, too, and I appreciate that. They have a lot of stuff going on for the residents. "

"Guardian Angels (Engel Haus) got five or six facilities, and this one just opened about a year-and-a-half ago. It’s something that I liked, but I didn’t like the price. It has big rooms and lot of amenities. The only thing they didn’t have was underground parking. The rooms were very large, and I liked the way they were laid out. It’s something that I could live with. "

"I like The Legacy of Saint Michael Senior Living because of its friendliness. The people are very, very congenial here. They do a great job and the place is clean. I really enjoy it. Their food is almost gourmet. They have a five-star kitchen. It is phenomenal. They have a meal for everybody that wants it for every lunch, breakfast, and dinner, but you can also substitute that with other items if you don't like what they're cooking. They just do a great job and they've got nice apartments. They're clean and they keep up the place beautifully. They have a lot of fun activities. They have bingo, musical, entertainment, and happy hour. They keep us busy. Pamela is really excellent. She is fantastic."

"I brought my mother here. It's a very small rambler building that houses about 20 residents, and it's just a calmer place for someone with some dementia like her. It's assisted living, and the rooms are very adequate. The staff is old fashioned and kind. They have an exercise class, they play bingo, and they have a card club and a book club. It's not a very active place."

"My mother-in-law is in Heritage Place. We chose it for the friendliness and the people there. We liked the size of the room. It's well kept, just exactly what we needed, and the cost was a big factor. They have an activity room, they have coffee, they play bingo, they bring in food occasionally, and connect with the senior center in Rogers for other activities."

"We chose Riverview Landing-Otsego because my husband is just young and they have a lot of amenities that were pleasing for him. They have a pool, a fitness area, a pickleball court, a basketball court, a putting green, a lot of walking paths, and biking paths that are available for him. Then they have a library and just so many amenities. They took an excursion on the Lake Minnetonka (a boat ride) and then they have many days where they have cards, bingo or bridge. They also have bowling, and just today, I think they went to the state fair. They planned a lot of events. I'm also able to join the wellness center that they have so I can work out with him, help him, and swim with him. So, there were just so many things that were available. Their staff is amazing. They're so friendly and so accommodating, and he's very happy with the food. The place is beautiful. You feel like you're walking in to a hotel rather than a facility for care. One thing that I really like about the care is that the nurses don't look like they're nurses. They wear plain clothes with a name tag. So, it doesn't look like you're in nursing care. It looks like it's your home rather than a care facility. I like that part of it and he likes that part of it, too. The amenities are amazing and the building is beautiful. I toured a lot of places and called on them to find out what their costs were, and the costs at Riverview Landing-Otsego are very comparable considering everything that is available for my husband. They're fairly priced for what they have to offer."

"It has been two and half years since my wife was moved into Memory Care at Elk River Senior Living. She accepted the move from a different memory care facility immediately and said I think I'm going to like it here. She is very happy at Elk River Senior Living and she has never mentioned coming back home. She still participates in all of the activities and can't wait to tell me about them. I want to thank everyone that works at Elk River Senior Living for their professionalism, prompt attention to her needs and kindness to us. "I liked the independent living aspect of Harrison Bay Senior Living. They had nice apartment units. The entire building was kept up nicely. It had a little pub downstairs and a coffee shop. In the restaurant, you could order off the menu or have a daily special. One meal a day was included in the price. Somebody on staff 24/7 was available. It was more of walking into an apartment or a condo rather than a nursing home. I only did a walk-through with a member of the management. She was very informative about additional care and how you never have to leave your home as you need additional care. They would just provide that an at additional cost. There were plenty of activities to do to get the residents out of their units and socialize. The location was extremely important for me. It was in a nice small-town atmosphere and the grounds were very pretty. It was just less than a mile to a grocery store."
