My first impression of Elk River Senior Living is that it was sort of dark. It's not old, but I hated the carpeting there. It was like something from the 50s or 60s to me. The interior itself was not impressive. Otherwise, it seems like a nice place, and they have kept in contact with us too. Actually, they sent us a Christmas card. Where it was located looked like a busy intersection, so driving in and out is more difficult. That was one thing my husband commented on. Although it would be convenient because they are near some big roads and everything. They seemed to have some nice big rooms you could use when you have family come over. They have some entertainment rooms too. My son knows some people that are there and they really like it, so that would be a plus. The lady I talked to seemed personal. She was good too. She was very nice.

After the newness wore off, my mother has complained of significant internet issues, bad food in the dining facility, limited activities, mismanaged staff, and we've encountered rudeness with the front desk woman (Sherry or Sharon) on more than on occasion. She doesn't greet visitors, is on her phone at times, and doesn't even smile. As the first impression of the building that needs work! Additionally, the director needs to take a higher altitude view of the building and the residents happiness to make improvements or we will have to consider other places for our mom to live.

My father has moved into Elk River Senior Living. I thought it was a nice place. There seems to be a lot of good staff and they have a lot of activities and it was close to me. He's in memory care. They have four-plate settings per table and they set a nice table with a goblet and a coffee cup and everything. They only have one choice of the meal though. They have a beauty salon, a theater room, and an activity room. It was so expensive, but I think it's a very nice, neat, and homey facility. There's a lot of help and they seem to always be on the ball and always seem to be around.

When the facility first opened it was BEAUTIFUL. Management changed and everything went downhill! They need Kylie and Rachel back ASAP! The food has been hit or miss, mostly a miss. How the kitchen, nurse and building maintenance manager's still have a job there is a mystery in itself. The facility needs a paint job, deck needs repairs, light fixtures need repair, etc. and it needs a good cleaning. Some of the HHA's are lazy, neglectful and rude to the residents. I will never place a loved one in this facility. It is all about the all mighty dollar there. Residents take a back seat! Don't waste your money!

At one point the hallways hadn't been cleaned in over 4 months. The hallways needed painting really bad for over 9 months. The painting was never finished. There is a deck on 2nd floor that has needed repair for over 2 years and a screen porch that hasn't had a door in over 2 years. There are only 2 pieces of exercise equipment in the fitness room, one had needed repair for over a year. There are no tread mills or any other equipment. There are other problems too.

Elk River Senior Living was very nice. They were very friendly, it was a beautiful place, but cost was an issue for us. It was brand new. We would have been the first people moving in. It's gorgeous, but my mother-in-law felt like the bedroom was small. They have a library and transportation.
