"My wife is at Stoney River Assisted Living & Memory Care. She just moved in. It's absolutely incredible. Last night they had a taco truck, and they fed everybody tacos. They have a Mother's Day party with lobster on bread. It has just been incredible. The staff members are very prompt, very courteous, very active, and involved. I had lunch with her, and they gave me a free lunch and an evening meal, and it was very good. Right now, the air conditioner is not working in her room, but I'm sure they'll get that fixed. Otherwise, it's been pretty good. It's a very nice facility. They have outdoor spaces. We've been sitting out there, and it's very nice. I haven't been to their PT or their gym at all yet. However, they have a schedule of activities. They have a movie night on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They have games. It seems they have a lot of activities. They had fixed pricing, so here it was $9,125. No matter what they do, it's a fixed price. I like that better than some of the other ones where it's going to be $4,000 if my wife is at this level and $5,000 if she is at that level. I just didn't feel comfortable with that type of arrangement. I like the fixed one better. It was closest to my house, and it had the highest rating, too. Out of ten it was like 9.3, and it was one of the highest ratings of all of them that I looked at."

"My mother has moved into Personal Care Senior Living of Andover. I like that it was smaller. I think there are 30 residents there. It was clean and brand new. The sales pitch on all the other places we saw was about aesthetics, but we felt like my mom was going to be cared for here. It's hourly safety checks at night. The staff ratio is 1 to 5. It's a good safe environment for her as well. They have all kinds of activities, bingo, crafts, and little movies. I've seen them putting together puzzles and there were blocks. That wasn't a selling point for me, but I see the activities going on around me. They're all sitting around tables with helpers. We've only been there a week, but we are very pleased with it, with the nursing staff, the administrator, and how she handled everything. Everything's going well. Right now, we're very happy. Everything's kept up and clean and her room is clean, and the common areas are clean. It's all good."

"We chose Cherrywood of Big Lake for my mother-in-law. It's a nice area, residential. The staff is real friendly, and helpful. She is eating more, and she said the food is good. It's nicely kept up, clean, and has no foul smells, or anything. Her room is very nice. She enjoys the activities. They keep her active and up. It's a very secure area. They do go outside, as a group, or with assistance. They have a haircut and a barbershop. They allow refrigerators in their rooms. She's got a landline phone I guess, she just got in, and it's a nice place."

"We visited Willows Landing Senior Living in Monticello and saw their independent living community. We are most interested in it because it's very close to my son. We're also impressed with the place, and everything looks nice. We talked with the marketing director. She was very gracious, answered our questions, and showed us a lot of places. They had a chapel, and they had another room where people were doing chair zumba. They had some exercise equipment and other things in there, I guess, for people wanting to have PT. She also showed us several different kinds of apartments and suites, and they look very nice."

"I toured Guardian Angels By the Lake. There were no big rooms, so I think that would put my wife off. There were a lot of little niches, maybe 3 or 4 chairs along the hallways. There were nice, intimate spots where they could chat together without being in a big dining room. There were cages with birds and a wonderful view of the swamp. Some of the other places had larger areas, and people herded into them. It gave me the creeps, but Guardian Angels by the Lake didn't have that. The staff that we saw was good. We didn't have any red flags at all, and I had no qualms about the staffing. One of the things I like about it is that there's a significant emphasis on volunteers, and I understand that per month, it's one-to-one, which would appeal very much."

"The new Sterling Pointe senior living facility has something new to offer residents and families. My parents have the choice of living independently or on assisted-living status while staying in their apartment. Our family is pleased with the flexibility this offers. This is the only senior facility which offers an attached garage, dishwasher, and in-apartment laundry. The second major factor in our choice for Sterling Pointe is the third care-option which is the Memory Care Unit. As my dad has been diagnosed with dementia, our family sees this living arrangement as a perfect option when needed. If my dad needs to be moved for more care, my mother can continue to stay in her apartment within the same building. As a new facility we have found some attention to senior-needs lacking in the apartments due to budget. In time we hope Sterling Pointe will addresses the issues and provide adequately. "

"Elk River Senior Living was very nice. They were very friendly, it was a beautiful place, but cost was an issue for us. It was brand new. We would have been the first people moving in. It's gorgeous, but my mother-in-law felt like the bedroom was small. They have a library and transportation."

"My wife was at Engel Haus. It was a excellent care for the time she was there. The people that were working there were very helpful. Everything went fine with them. It was clean, and it was okay. There was good food and regular meals three times a day. It was well handled, too. They had a library, they had therapists who come in to visit my wife every couple of days to help her with her health problem. They had bingo and they had a band playing at different times. They had a card game going for the people, too. They had medical people and nurses who check in on my wife routinely. They were always checking to make sure that everything was okay. For the money, it's good."

"I toured Riverview Landing - Otsego, and I will be moving to their assisted living in a week. It's just one big building with four floors, and I will be in a little apartment on the fourth floor. Meals are included if you pay extra. The place looks clean, as far as I can tell right now. The person who showed me around was very nice. She's the only one I've met, and she's very good. They have a pool and a pickleball court. They also have activities and take the residents to outings."

"I like The Legacy of Saint Michael Senior Living because of its friendliness. The people are very, very congenial here. They do a great job and the place is clean. I really enjoy it. Their food is almost gourmet. They have a five-star kitchen. It is phenomenal. They have a meal for everybody that wants it for every lunch, breakfast, and dinner, but you can also substitute that with other items if you don't like what they're cooking. They just do a great job and they've got nice apartments. They're clean and they keep up the place beautifully. They have a lot of fun activities. They have bingo, musical, entertainment, and happy hour. They keep us busy. Pamela is really excellent. She is fantastic."

"I will move into The Glenn Buffalo in a few days. There are many activities, many people, and lots to do. The room is very clean and very large. I have a bedroom and a sitting room. So I'm excited to be there. When I stepped inside the community, things were going on everywhere. These people right over here we're doing a puzzle. The guys over here were watching a football game. We went back to the snack room and there were a couple of people in there. We went upstairs and they were playing Rubix Cube and a lady was watching TV. It was just busy everywhere."

"The Sanctuary at St. Cloud was excellent. They have beautiful rooms. It's a new building. I'm extremely pleased. They only have assisted living and memory care, and I'm amazed that a memory care place can be as lovely as that. The people really know their business and give you the information that you need. The service provided is wonderful. They can choose their meals so not everybody is eating the same thing. They have two dining rooms, so they don't have a large crowd of people in one. They have a very fine activities director, she is full of life, and she has volunteers who assist her. The staff is excellent, and they have nurses and CNAs, so the care seems very fine. My sister likes it very much. It's beautiful and very appropriate. I have no complaints."
