"Assumption Community is like no other Nursing home or assisted living facility out there. Most people have negative perspectives on nursing homes and Assumption completely changed my outlook. All staff were genuinely caring and had a holistic approach to care given. Assumption was always very clean. All garbage was taken out frequently, residents always had fresh water and a snack. The d̩cor had a very at home feel. The theme was very calming and non-medicinal looking. Assumption community provided much more than white as you would normally see. This nursing facility provided many pertinent resident activities in which many of the residents attended frequently. Care conferences were very confidential and provided the best interest with the residents involved including emotional, physical and spiritual support. As a caregiver myself and have seen many other nursing facilities if I had to choose to put my loved one in a skilled nursing facility, Assumption Community would be a first choice! "

"The Saint Cloud VA is a very fine facility. It is always clean and kept up to decent standards. There is a very respectful and interactive staff who are always ready to help vets and students alike. Our group specifically met with veterans who come in the morning and leave at night to their homes. They are well enough to live on their own, they just require some extra attention during the day. Every visit was filled with stories and games being shared and played amongst the students and vets, so there was never a dull moment and everyone seemed quite content with the facility. Overall it was one of the best places I have seen in terms of staffing and the positive mood being given off by the residents. However, I have not seen the nursing home aspect of the buildings yet since we only deal with those who can come and go as they please. "

"I had a tour of Talamore Senior Living - Saint Cloud. It was a very nice place. They're very nice people. It's all new. The host people and the people that live there were very friendly. It's a very appealing property. The staff was excellent. Everything is sparkling clean and neat. The host people that work there are all top-notch. I would rate it very high. It's sure not going to be a problem to get people in there because it is nice. We are looking at independent living right now, but the idea of a place like that is if one or the other gets ill, you can progress and still be in the same facility as long as you can be together at least part of the time. It's what we would want. The upkeep was outstanding. They got the underground parking; they got everything you could ever want."

"Memory Lane was very clean, very nice, and I liked it. They offered meals, laundry, and care depending on what my mother needs."

"I have visited CentraCare - Chateau Waters. It's very clean and it seemed like they had a lot of activities for the residents. I'm leaning more towards them but there's a waiting list there. They had a handicapped one open but my dad is fairly tall for it. The problem we have now is getting the home care people up into his apartment. Chateau has the concierge that would let them in. I think you didn't have to make a meal plan there but it came with 10 meals a month or something. They had a place where you could stay overnight if you wanted to. They had a guest room that you could use. If you're out of town and you're coming for a couple of days, you could stay there. They recommend you to pay 25 dollars a night for the first two nights and I think it was $50 for the third night. I also asked if they had a room for if we had a birthday party or something and they did. I saw some cleaning people but I didn't see a whole lot of staff there. The apartment has a room, a small living room, a kitchen and the kitchen has a counter. He likes sitting on the counter with a higher bar stool because he's tall but they didn't have that overhang on the counter. When we asked if they had anything that you could put a chair underneath, the staff said they didn't have that. She said what the people have done was take a counter height table and push it up to the corner. She also said that a couple of the residents had the granite taken out and replaced but they had to pay for it themselves."

"Country Manor was the only place that had the level of care mom needed. The food is good. The staff is trained, has longevity, are happy, and have a lot of patience with my mom. The family is very happy to have Mom there. You can customize the type of care you need, and they are very flexible with the price. "

"I received top-notch quality care at Good Shepherd ACE subacute rehab. All of their staff went out of their way to give me the best care could possibly get. They were friendly, caring and made my stay a joy to be there! The therapy staff was outstanding! I highly recommend them. "

"The main thing that struck me was that Cherrywood Advanced Living seems to have a very open area for people to sit and chat and help somebody make dinner, or make a meal for themselves if they want. The kitchen, living, and social area are kind of all-in-one. People eat in a family environment where there's a long table, and people just sit down and eat. If you want to eat later in the morning, you sure can. There are in-houses or community areas, so that there are 12 people per house. It's just very comfortable-looking between the fireplace, and the carpet, and the chairs. The rooms are just one big space, but they're large, so I think that would be appealing to some people. It's in a neighborhood, so that is nice. They seemed very caring when they talked about things that people would like, and that they try to respond to. The staff was new, and one of them said that one of her goals on being hired was to add more social activities for people. I was really very impressed with it. We were considering that place, but the distance was too far. You can have your hair done there. People come in regularly to cut hair, and for shaving. There's a little party room, and if somebody is having a family gathering, they can use that space. There is a sauna whirlpool room, and that is quite popular. "

"I stayed at Skylight Gardens and that was a dump. It was a terrible place to live. Although the rooms were updated and were very nice, the outside, like in the lobby and in the hallways, were just terrible. It was run down, had dirty carpets, and they were not painted. Just unbelievably poor. They had bingo and games, but they didn't have any entertainment. They had a bus that they take people out to ride to the grocery stores and stuff like that."

"Basically Hyatt House met all of our needs, so that is why we chose it. He needed to have some place who had some memory care, and they had that available there. The staff were really caring people, and they are just top of everything. I am really pleased with them. The buildings were a little older, but it's nice and clean. "

"I wasn't impressed with Wildwood Assisted Living. For one thing, when we walked in there, it smelled like pee. I didn't see an elevator. So, how did these people in wheelchairs get from the first floor to the second floor? The rooms were small. The staff who assisted us during the tour was nice."

"I liked it because it was close to our residence right now. It would only take half a minute to get to it. So, I liked the location for myself and access. So, that part was okay. The part that I didn't like was that there wasn't any direction to the main entrance. I pulled into the parking lot and walked the whole perimeter of it before I was able to locate the main door. So, that was a bit confusing. That was the second thing. Otherwise, if I'm looking just for my husband, it would be adequate. But living conditions for myself or together, no it wouldn't. As far as the person who gave the tour, experience-wise she was kind of confused as to what floor we were on and what room number. So either she was new or she just hadn't walked the floors enough to familiarize herself with the building layout. The facility is old. I'm not sure of the age of it. I had inquired if it was at one time an apartment building and converted into single dwellings. She didn't think it was only because there were no kitchen areas. It was kind of like a hotel or a motel, very simply, a closet, a sliding door around the bathroom, and I didn't care for the carpets in the areas."
