"Brookdale South Windsor was very nice and clean. Everyone was very polite and helpful. The dining hall was very nice. It looked like they had a lot of activities. They had a library. There were a lot of fun things to do."

"I went to Evergreen Crossings Retirement Community. It was very, very nice and very new. All the people were very friendly. The price was somewhat expensive in comparison to the others that I viewed, but the offerings were comparable. The rooms are larger. They have a full kitchen as opposed to just a small refrigerator. It's much more of an independent living place if someone wants to use the kitchen, but it was more expensive. They have an activity coordinator there. There are exercise classes offered, different crafts, and a movie room. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly."

"We looked at Southwick Village and it was nice. It was very welcoming and it had a nice set of activities. The cottages were nicely laid out and were private, it's just a nice place. The staff who took me around on the tour was very personable, knowledgeable, and nice. They offered me meals but I turned them down. The appliances come with the room, and they replace them if they go bad. It comes with a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, and washer and dryer."

"Our tour at White Oaks was very good, it was very nice. They had entertainment and they had food services. We weren't able to try the food because it was COVID restricted. I only had interaction with one staff person and she was perfectly fine. The apartments were small, and they were a little more dated and a little worn down."

"I went and toured Quail Run Estates. There's no problem with the upkeep, the overall facilities, and the amenities. There's a single bedroom apartment with closet space, living area, and kitchenette area. The person who accommodated me was excellent. I can't complain about that. Her presentation was excellent. She was very sympathetic and understanding the financial considerations when she realized that it was beyond our means. There were residents in the dining room. They were sitting around reading. It was a very quiet time, so I didn't see any specific activities as far as playing games. No one was in the exercise room. Most of the people were either in their apartments or doing other things."

"Covenant Village is very attractive, well-kept, and well-managed. The staff was very efficient and friendly. The highlight for me would be the variety of services. It was a good experience. "

"I did a tour of Colebrook Village at Hebron. It's in the running, but I'm still waiting. We have to see what my father's needs are going to be, and I'm working with the VA to see if they can come through with some assistance. The tour was very positive, the manager was wonderful, the Marketing Manager. I toured one of the apartments, saw the library, and the dining facilities. I saw the courtyard where somebody planted tomatoes. Also walked past the hairdresser, recreation rooms, and physical exercise room. We worked with one person; she was great. She's marketing, so I would expect that person to be trying to sell you the place. The one apartment I saw looked nice, and the other things. They also had a movie theater."

"I thought that the apartments at Belden Forest Court were very nice, but there wasn't anyone there to really show us around. I also think that the dining area was nice. I also saw their activity room. From what I saw, the community was nice. The apartment that I saw was clean as well."

"I thought that this assisted living facility was overall very good. It was clean and well kept. The lawn is nice there and there are a lot of open areas for people to walk around and enjoy the outdoors. The staff is very kind and friendly and when I leave I always feel like my loved ones are in good hands. The actual building itself was also of very good quality. It has a recent construction and all of its technical elements seemed very high tech and up to date. It is located in a safe neighborhood in a very well respected town in Connecticut. Anyone staying at this assisted living facility is sure to have a good time. They will be well fed and have a steady stream of attention. Without the help of the McLean center many people lives and recoveries would not be the same. The center gives people what they need to live happily, freely, and comfortably. "

"The Dr. Owen L. Murphy Apartments are garden-style apartments designed for unassisted, independent living for people age 62 and over. A lovely Community Building features a fireplace, laundry facility and a library. There are lovely one-bedroom cottages. The apartments are located among 13 beautifully wooded acres, "

"It was brand new. The interior was very contemporary, and it was beautiful, but for a seventy-five-year-old -- my mom -- it was too institutional, and she was very uncomfortable with how gray it was. It looked cold and institutional to her. It was all in one building so they gave us information on all of the levels of care there. I thought the staff was wonderful; I liked them a lot. The rooms were beautiful, too. I really thought the facility was beautiful, but that's not what she thought. She thought the room was beautiful, but she didn't like the coloring. I think we're dealing with differences in age group here, and I'm not the one who's going to live there. I thought it was in a beautiful area. They had a movie theater, although it wasn't as big as the one I saw in another facility. They had a billiards room, an arts-and-crafts room, and I thought it was beautiful."

"Seabury was an excellent facility. The view and the grounds were excellent and less restrictive. It seemed to have a larger acreage so there was more room for patients who didn't need 24-hour care who had some flexibility to come and go. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were relatively small. They did have some rooms where people lived independently and almost into a separate apartment, a cottage-like environment. If they were independent living but had some problems once they were monitored and evaluated, they would be able to go into the assisted living from the independent once they were there. I thought that was good. "
