"We toured Lodge at Cold Spring. The apartment-style does not work for my father. It's too small. They were very nice. The facility was very, very small, like their square footage with their apartment was within like 800 and 900 square feet and that was the very first one he saw yesterday, so that kind of just shocked him at how small they were. It's a small facility, but I like the amenities. We did like the way they described the checking to make sure all of the occupants were OK every day, the linen changing, all of that sounds wonderful. It's just not going to be big enough for my parents. I'm a little concerned that everybody wasn't masked. I was just surprised that there were a couple of places where it says please wear your mask, but then the tenants didn't have masks on and that might be perfectly normal and that might be what it is right now as a process, but that just made me a little concerned. I'm walking around amongst people and they're not masked from a tour perspective. I'm sure this doesn't sound fair because if you live there and you're not needing to wear a mask, it's not your fault. My father said the facility was very, very generic. He said, "It looks like somewhere you would visit, not live." I don't know if there's much you can do to make it maybe a little homier, but he didn't see any open spaces that looked inviting, like to just go and sit, a study-like, an area with a book or something like that. It did not have that warm, sort of cozy like your house feel. I'm not sure you're going to find that anywhere, but he felt that way about the Lodge. We looked at the menu and they were very, very nice. They baked some little stones. We had just eaten breakfast, so he didn't have any. They offered water and we did go to the cafeteria area. The staff was very nice. Everybody that we walked by that work there, we were introduced to. We spent a couple of minutes talking with the maintenance folks, as well as a woman, who I think is responsible for checking every day to make sure everybody is OK once they check-in for meals. If she doesn't have you recorded, she will call or go and find the individual. We spoke to her and her passion and commitment were evident. It was very nice."

"Stonebrook Village at Windsor Locks is good. My mother has moved into this community. It is modern, nice, and new. It is only three years old. The cleanliness is very good. They have the usual activities like arts and crafts. They have entertainment, and they have guests that come in with animals. However, they need to improve on their dining room chairs because they slide too easily. It is hard for older people to get out of them. Everyone is really friendly; the people are very nice."

I was grateful to find a facility that was run by such caring people. Yes, price is important but to find a place that offered such quality and friendly caring people was amazing. The management with Bill and Liz at the helm allows me to know they're "want ever it takes" attitude filters to all the staff. Everyone is kinds and ready to help. The appt. is great size, food is wonderful but rally its about the caring people running this facility. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. This is right up there with great. "Brookdale South Windsor was beautiful. It was luxurious. They had pretty much everything that you could want if you were living with some level of self-care. The apartments were beautiful, bright, and cheerful. The people were pleasant. We felt very welcome when we walked in. The meals were served kind of restaurant style. You could either sit together in a larger group or you could sit at little tables just like you would in any restaurant, and the food looked amazing. The CEO was the one that gave us a tour. Honestly, he seemed like a salesman."

"It was pretty good. I believe it was White Oaks. The gentleman that took me around was very courteous, and he explained everything fully to me. The surroundings were clean. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The only thing is my income won’t let me go into the community. What was described to me was very nice. "

"I've only been living here in Connect55+ East Windsor for a month now. I signed up with them at least three years ago, before they even built it. There are a couple of things I really liked about it. One was that there was a washer and dryer in the apartment. They had crafts and stuff. They had numerous activities going on, and they had garages. I was able to move all of my stuff over to the garage. It's brand new and very clean."

They have beautiful surroundings. They have a library activity center and a walking path. They have daily exercises. It feels homey."

"I did a tour of Colebrook Village at Hebron. It's in the running, but I'm still waiting. We have to see what my father's needs are going to be, and I'm working with the VA to see if they can come through with some assistance. The tour was very positive, the manager was wonderful, the Marketing Manager. I toured one of the apartments, saw the library, and the dining facilities. I saw the courtyard where somebody planted tomatoes. Also walked past the hairdresser, recreation rooms, and physical exercise room. We worked with one person; she was great. She's marketing, so I would expect that person to be trying to sell you the place. The one apartment I saw looked nice, and the other things. They also had a movie theater."

"Atria Larson Place seemed very nice. They were very friendly. They had lots of amenities. They had a library, places for groups, and an area where you can watch movies. They had plenty of activities. The staff was very nice. I can't say anything bad about them. There's no negativity there."
