"We toured Avery Heights. Everybody in there didn't need any assistance as far as I could see, but it was very nice, comfortable, and pleasant. The staff was very pleasant and informative. They seemed to care about their community. The place was beautiful and very clean. My husband and I both said to the person who was giving us the tour that this is the place where we would like to live. They showed us the menu. The residents have a choice of what they want to eat, and it was prepared by a chef there on the scene. Their dining area was like an upscale restaurant. They even had a movie theater."

"We chose the Chatfield for my aunt because they had a special running that month and we could afford it. They have a movie every other night, for she likes to be social. They have the typical things, like bingo. They have culture clubs. I think the activities have been the best thing for her. They have great food there, and there's an everyday menu that they can pick from if the meal of the day isn't something they like. They're extremely accommodating about meals. They do breakfast and dinner. They have a little cafeteria where people can order lunch and pay for it; it's not included in the rent. They were very accommodating about answering all my questions. The follow-through hasn't been as good as I would like. They're very enthusiastic and excited in the moment, but then when I followed through the following week, not everything always happened. It's extremely clean; you don't worry about that. I think they're doing a good job. "

"Colebrook Village at Hebron was very nice. We had lunch there, which was just soup and a sandwich. The people were very friendly and very nice. There were many people who were using such devices, so that turned me off a little bit. But the facility was lovely, and the accommodations were lovely. The other thing I like about Colebrook is that they have a lot of people there that I know. So I wouldn't be going into a place without knowing anyone. So that was a plus. It was friendly and very accessible. There are some walking trails, and it is very near to my primary doctor, CVS, and a supermarket, and that's a plus. The person who works there brought me meals from Colebrook, and the food is very, very good."

"Our tour of Covenant Living of Cromwell was great. It was awesome. It was like a hotel when you walked in there. It was absolutely beautiful. The staff was amazing. They had a cafeteria, a restaurant, and then they had a coffee shop. So there were three places you could go for a meal. They had a snack room, too. They allow you to have three meals a day, but it was like a credit card setup where they give you so much money every month and allotment for food. I think it was $300 for each person a month. The menus were awesome. The apartments were very nice. They even had a deck where you could go outside (each one had a patio deck). It's very quiet and you could bring pets if you wanted to. They had a movie theater, a music room, and an activities room where you could crochet or needlepoint or have any hobbies, you could do it there. They kept their residents engaged with a bunch of activities going on. We would have picked it, but we just couldn't afford it. It was a little on the high side."

"My brother is more interested in Quail Run because it's a little cheaper. The rooms were excellent, very nice, and of a reasonable size. The staff was very pleasant. They seemed to have activities to keep people occupied. The dining area looked very good and very pleasant. "

"I toured Holiday Bluebird Estates. It was very pleasant, tranquil, and very welcoming. The staff who gave the tour seemed very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very welcoming. I saw an apartment that was a studio. It was very spacious, with lots of closet space, a nice-size refrigerator, and a nice balcony, and it was very clean. They had a small fitness center, a library, puzzles, and a TV room. There are a bunch of different areas where they could have parties or if the family members or residents themselves wanted to have a party there, they could. The facility itself was very clean."

"I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Haddam. It was a very good tour. They had a couple of units available, and they showed them all to us. They would have worked out because they offered more services. It was a very pretty location. The facilities were very nice. We saw people doing all different kinds of things, and the staff was very pleasant. Everybody we spoke to was very nice and accommodating. And the cook came out to meet us and asked if we had questions. It was very nice. The apartments were very nice. They were one-bedroom units with bigger kitchen areas and full-sized appliances. I liked the rooms a little better. They were a little more spacious than the other place, although they were both in very nice condition. They had just painted and put new carpets in, and so everything looked very nice."

"We toured The Residence at South Windsor Farms for my sister-in-law. They were very open to helping us. They were very good. The person who does the tour was lovely and very understanding. She wanted to work with us to try to help my sister-in-law. She was very helpful and very nice. We saw nice open studios. They're very helpful in making the room work for you no matter what. The rooms were very open, light, bright, and very easy to access, too, if you were handicapped. The common dining area was nicely spaced. They're willing to cook whatever you wanted and very conscious about allergies and that sort of thing. However, the grounds were not that great. It seemed to be very landlocked. In terms of activities, it was late in the day, and I think they were getting ready for dinner time. I did see residents upstairs in the community room. They made cookies, and they were wrapping them up. The staff members seemed to be very open and concerned about your issues. Among the others we visited, they were the only ones that welcomed us."

"My friend moved in. The facility is very clean and very new. The staff is very friendly, and they're taking very good care of my friend. It's very nice all around. The food is very good. I had lunch and dinner there. You get an appetizer, your main meal, and a dessert. There are choices and it's all very good. They have an area for movies and they have a community room where they do puzzles and other activities. Upstairs, they have a gym. They keep my friend engaged all day with people and not isolated by herself. I think they're doing very well with her."

"My mother has been in Welles Country Village for a couple of days now, and so far everything is great. The food is good. The room is spacious and pretty. It is newly painted and has new carpeting. It has a living room, a bedroom, and a kitchenette. We coose it because you can stay there once you run out of money. "

"Arbors of Hop Brook was very clean and very updated. The place was very well kept. The decorations and the interior design were all very updated. It's very nice and very pleasant there. I went with the family, and we checked in. Whoever was at the desk was very pleasant, and that would be the only staff I would have had anything to do with. The food was good."
