DuPage Care Center looks like an office building. There were a lot more patients in wheelchairs who were having a hard time getting around, so that would be more of a nursing home. Those people required a lot more care. They gave me a tour, and they were very nice, and I would have considered it. The grounds are nice too. They have some areas where you can go out and sit when the weather is nice. They had areas that you wouldn't even see from the street. It's kind of tucked away in there. The thing that I had a hard time with was that they were under construction when I was there. It was in the midst of changing, so they had one floor that was finished and two that were in the midst of it. They had both shared and private rooms. It was a bit more institutional than I would have cared for. Elevators are tough to get to because you have a lot of people in big wheelchairs in the elevators, so you gotta take your time and wait.

I believe that DuPage Care Center is staffed by beautiful caring people who genuinely put their patient's interests first. I'd like to say that the case manager of long-term care, Jessica went above and beyond to provide comfort to my mother during a very stressful and confusing time. My mother was a resident there for a short time before her passing. However, the reason for the 3-star rating was that I feel they were extremely understaffed. Unfortunately, I live across the country so I was unable to be personally there. Other visiting family members reported that it was a good clean facility with caring staff... just not enough to meet my Mother's needs in a timely manner. She had to wait for extended periods for her request to be honored. I would recommend this facility but hope that they hire additional staff to be more attentive.

My mom is currently there for post knee surgery, and although the physical therapy they provide (1 hour daily),is good, the overall care that facility provides is almost criminal. The staff is nice, but not attentive at all. Meaning,if u want water to drink,or more importantly your life saving medicines delivered on time(sometimes even 3-4 hours late for both breathing and pain medicine),this IS NOT where you should go! My mom is very blessed in fact that someone from my family is almost there 24 hours a day,and she is still not getting her medicine! Even with many of us,getting her water, and multiple trips to the nurses station, she still does not receive her pain pills,or more importantly her, life saving breathing treatments timely. I would feel terrible if I did not post this,as most people who are looking for care, may not be as blessed as me with family to support and facilitate my mom's care almost 20 hours a day. It's a running joke, that we each "punch in and punch out". If you have another option....PLEASE TAKE IT!

This is known as "the county home" to many locals, and it provides exceptionally well regarded care in DuPage County. Employees are government employees who benefit from union and related benefits. The facility is situated adjacent to other government complexes in a safe business district; the sheriff office and the courts are nearby. There is little outdoor space in comparison to the size of the facility, so few residents are seen outside. It is not possible to go for a walk easily in the nearby residential area, without going a good number of blocks down the busy road first. The interior of the facility has an institutional feel and is older, but is very clean and well maintained. The common areas are tastefully decorated and while plentiful, can be full due to the size of the facility. Rooms are of an average size with limited space for personal items, and most are shared. Lighting in the rooms from natural light is highly dependent upon what part of the facility the room is situated in. The food is above average for a facility of this size, though it is certainly not the very best that is out there. Staffing is more consistent than average with a less than average rate of turnover. Care is compassionate, kind, and generally consistent. Residency of DuPage County is an issue with admissions.
