We did visit Humble Abode. The place was very clean and the personnel seemed very nice, but the accommodations we thought were not appealing at all. It was a very small hallway to get back to the bedroom, the bathroom upstairs was extremely small, and I don't even see how someone could have been able to get in there by using a walker. And then, they had the rooms downstairs and the only way someone could get up and around if they use a walker was to go outside and go up and around the sidewalk. There was no other way to get them from upstairs to downstairs, and so there was no kitchen downstairs so the people would have had to bring the meals down there, and then the bathroom downstairs, you had to go off a little ramp and the ramp did not feel like it was secure. Then you had to go up another little platform to get into the bathroom that did not feel secure. We were not pleased with this place at all, and I hate to say this about them. The house itself was not set up to take care of someone elderly in our opinion. What impressed me was that it was very clean. They were very willing to try and assist us in whatever way we wanted. However, like I said, it just was not set up well for the elderly. My mother needed to use a walker, and I would have rather her being upstairs, however, I just don't see how she could have gotten into the bathroom with a walker, and then for her to be downstairs, the only way for her the only way for her to ever go upstairs would be if she went outside and up the sidewalk. That was just too far of a distance for her to have to go.
