Peninsula is very clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. Alissa the social worker goes far beyond her duties to help you and your family member. She is one amazing lady and very caring and compassionate. I am the sister of Linda, who was a resident there and was having physical therapy until she had to go to the hospital for a medical issue. Everyone who works there is caring and helpful. Since I live so far, Alissa helped transfer her closer to me to one of their sister facilities in Port Charlotte. Thank you all for all you have done to help Linda. Business office also was very helpful. Rooms are very pleasant and clean.

This place is horrible. Please do not send your loved one to reside here. My husband went downhill so fast. They left him sitting in a wheelchair for 15 hours a day in soiled clothes. I asked so many times to have him put back in his room in bed to watch tv and have his dinner in bed so he could be comfortable but they just kept him in his wheelchair from 7am- 9::30 pm and sometimes even later. I had to go there 2-3 times a day to check on him and ask them every time at night to put him to bed. They keep his same clothes on him and hardly bathed him. I am so happy to have gotten him moved to another place. It’s 100% better! They are so caring and great with him and I can finally sleep at night knowing he is safe and cared for. He was only there for a month and left with a UTI infection, many sours and all his clothes were missing. If you’re loved one is there please check on them often

I went to look at Peninsula Care and Rehabilitation Center. I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and the attention that the staff gives to the patients from what I saw in the dining room and in the rehab area. They were just very friendly and personable. Sabrina was very forthcoming. She asked me about my concerns, filled me in on their daily routine, and what my expectations were for the time my mom would be there. They have rehab. They have two separate areas for outdoor sitting and visiting. They also have an indoor visitor lounge. The personal preference is whether the patient wants to have their meals in their room or go down to the dining room. They would have daily checks on their personal hygiene.

Peninsula Care And Rehabilitation Center was very clean, small, and all on one story. The physical therapy department was very small, though. The nurses were wonderful. Some of the aides were good, but not all of them. They had a courtyard there. The social worker there was wonderful. She was so great, she helped me so much. She went far and beyond.

This facility is absolutely horrible. We were trying to be optimistic at first but were quickly let down. The facility is run down, the staff is run down and literally dirty. My family member smells like urine every single day, and tells me that they wait hours for anyone to come in after pressing the light for assistance. In less than 7 days already has a bed sore. Has only received one bath/shower since being there. The food is so tough and cold that consuming it is impossible. The staff is literally bothered by family members asking questions or advocating for their family, a nurse literally argued with me on the phone because I inconvenienced her with a call after my loved one called me crying due to lack of care. I have been told that physical therapy is to be daily however, we are lucky if it is every other day. I have left many messages and have gone days without any call back. PLEASE do not send your loved one here!!!!! Zero compassion and zero dignity for their patients. This facility should be shut down by AHCA immediately.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. Worst staff and care ever. The food is awful and the building smells. My loved one always looked dirty and complained that the care they got was awful and they never did what they say they did. In-other-words, they said that PT never came in nor OT. They told us over the phone they did, but my loved one said they did not. They lied to the family and we still cannot get the authorized paperwork we need to file for the insurance company. We have been trying to get that paperwork done for going on 2 months. No one calls you back and they do not fill out the forms that the insurance needs in order to file for long term benefits for the loved one to be at another facility. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES THERE!!!

Cigarette smoke from the smoking room permeates the air. How is this legal? The facility looks aged and dirty. Residents smell of urine. Nursing director has an attitude.

My mother is getting 24-hour medical care at Peninsula Care & Rehabilitation Center. They're doing the best they can, and they have kept her safe. They've attended to her, and they're very good. They're not perfect, but she's relatively happy there. They're caring people, and it's been mostly a good experience.

My stepmom was visiting from New York. While she was here she broker her hip and went to Peninsula care and Rehab. Everyone was so nice to her. The rehab team was so amazing I watched her get stronger everyday. They did such a good job she was able to go home 3 weeks later! The nurses and Cnas were amazing. ON her last day there even though she was excited to go home she was sad that she had to say goodbye to so many nurses, cnas, rehab and administration staff that she cried. She is so greatful to all the staff there. She is home now and doing great and plans to visit Peninsula care when she comes back for a visit so she can see all the great staff that took such good care of her!

This is an excellent rehab facility where I received the very best care during my recent month long stay, recuperating from major hip surgery. I cannot say enough about the dedicated physical therapy department, all of whom were so encouraging and worked with me daily through the entire rehab process. As a team, they are exceptional and work well together to provide the very best care in a professional and welcoming environment. The medical staff, especially the nurses and CNA's, were responsive and available to me 24 hours daily, reassuring me and always taking time to make sure I was as comfortable as possible during my stay. The hospital chaplain visited with me and was available to address any concerns as well as provide me with much appreciated spiritual support . I give this facility the highest possible recommendation, for short term and long term care, as I did meet many permanent residents who were well cared for and quite satisfied with their quality of life here.

I was a bit disappointed with the care of the nursing staff at this facility where my mom did her rehabilitation. When she needed assistance it took a long while for a CNA or Nurse to come and when I was visiting her and would ask them on her behalf at the Nurses station. I would often times get well the Nurse or CNA is on break and they didn't seem to really care about helping patients. The facility needs some sprucing up outside and trees and plants could use some care. Now the Physical Therapist were a different story.....they were attentive and professional.

They did not send my father to the hospital when they should have after they initially called to say they thought he might be in renal failure and then four hours later they told me he was "ok"... Only when I showed up the next day unannounced from over 1,000 miles away did they decide that, coincidentally, the same exact symptoms had reappeared and he now had to go to the ER immediately. The hospital found signs that the staff hadn't been changing his diapers often enough. He was in the hospital for a week and I did not let him return to Peninsula. They also misplaced all of his personal belongings and it took three more visits from me for most of his belongings to anonymously reappear. No one told me who had found them or where. Even his checkbooks weren't logged correctly and it took three days for someone to even think of checking the safe. We never got back two bags of clothes. I found the place smelled of urine from the minute you stepped in the door. I never would have allowed my father to ho there for rehab had I been able to personally tour the facility first. Would not recommend at all.

I cannot say enough good things about Peninsula. They really truly care for all the residents. They treat every one of them with dignity. They really do the best that they can; they’re just wonderful. I would absolutely recommend them. I haven’t seen anything dirty. One of the residents dropped a spoon on the floor; they picked it up, took it in the back, and brought back a clean spoon. The floors are clean; they’re no smell in the bathrooms. Even the puree food is not awful, and the residents have their choice, they could have a hamburger or a grilled cheese. They can have whatever they want; they just have to request it anytime.

I really had a pretty bad experience at Peninsula Care. I made a complaint to them since it was almost like my husband was a prisoner at the place. They moved him to another room and they told us someone had just moved out of the room. They had been treating this room for some very serious wound infection and since housekeeping wouldn’t be back until Monday then that wouldn’t be clean until then so he couldn't use the bed. When my husband had to use the bathroom, I saw a housekeeper and told them that the bathroom needs to be clean so that my husband can use it. She went in, came out, and said there’s nothing wrong with the bathroom. There were dried urine spots on the toilet seat, a dirty towel hanging across the bar, a waste basket not emptied and it took the fourth person coming into that room before they actually improved it. I had spoken to one of the administrators who was on our side and the nurse that I had talked to in the beginning about the bathroom problem. When I talked to the main administrator, she acknowledged that there were some problems there and that she could understand my frustrations. She added that they were certainly going to work on them and they did. Something like that shouldn’t have to happen before they work on it. They did change a number of things and he was there for almost a month. There were some positive changes and the therapy department was good.

This place only acts like they care about the patients. I personally witnessed rain coming down from the ceiling in a patient's room right next to her bed and they just left her there. There is black mold in the ceiling vents and my allergies act up every time I visit my friend and I leave not being able to breathe and with a migraine because I am very sensitive to mold. I would NEVER send my loved ones there.

My husband has been in Peninsula Care and Rehabilitation Center since July 5th. Our primary care doctor's assistant visits the center daily that's why I decided to place my husband there. It is also like 6 miles from our home. I have regular meetings with the social worker, the director, and the therapists from the PT, OT and speech therapy departments and my husband is helped through these meetings. He has made terrific stride in the physical therapy department. When he came in, he was completely unable to walk. Now he has progressed to a point where he can use a four-wheel walker. They told us that he has about two or three more weeks and then they plan to discharge him home. Food was not bad but since they had a change of director, it has improved. Would I recommend this facility? Yes I would! They seem to have an extremely caring and encouraging staff, even the aides and the nurses. They would spend time talking and getting to know, not just the patients, but also their families. I feel very comfortable with my husband there. This is a very good facility.

My father was in this facility for about seven months. While the care he received was excellent, I do have a very big problem. His gold ring was lost. I was told it was in the safe and I never questioned it. After he passed, I was told it was not in the safe. I contacted two nurses who remembered the ring, and both of them thought it was in the safe. I called the administration, was referred to their counsel, and NOTHING HAPPENED. THE ATTITUDE WAS OOPS!!! So, I in spite of the excellent care my father received, I would not recommend this facility.

I was very impressed with Peninsula Rehabilition Center. They have a very impressive set of staff members, from the in house doctors, to the maintenance and food service staff. They have a very high patient to nurse ratio, and they have round the clock emergency services. Every patient is seen every day, but the staff doctor or psychiatrist, as well as therapy at least 5 days per week, with every session being at least 3 hours long. This is an in patient hospital, but they also see out patients as well. The facilities are very clean and well taken care of, and every patient has top of the line medical care. You can tell that the doctors and nurses really care about their patients. There is absolutely no signs of senior abuse, and every patient really seems to enjoy their stay and time there, from the out patients who only come in a few times a week, to the patients who have lived there for years. Every member of the staff goes through a rigorous screening process, they only let the best of the best in. All in all, I would have no problem sending a family member to this facility, I would have peace of mind knowing that they are in the best of hands.
