We always have one member of the team across 24 hours to support our six residents, which is an excellent ratio.

Our Staff receive a thorough Orientation, First Aid and CPR Training, Medication Training and other continuing education which is relevant and essential for them to perform their roles, and support your loved ones confidently.

In terms of Alzheimer's and Dementia Training, our staff partake in the Level 1 and Level 2 Alzheimer's and Dementia Related Disorders Training.

Our Staff all undertake a Level 2 Background Screening, to ensure that they are eligible to work with our most vulnerable communities.

We have SOS buttons that ring throughout the facility, for whenever a resident needs assistance.

Emergency Safety is also vital to our residents.

We have awake staff 24/7. Our facilities each hold 6 residents, so we are 1-6 at the current time.

One of our facilities is a locked unit, that can prevent a resident from eloping, but still affords them plenty of room - inside and outside - to wander safely.

A Bella Vita ‘Day’ is bespoke to our residents.  Every day is different, and each day is representative of the choices our residents make in their home
Enthusiastic, vibrant residents who need some help in their daily living.  The average age is 82.  They love to do arts and crafts, bingo, listen to music, and enjoy the BELLA VITA.

We utilize a range of methods for training our staff.

We have In-Person Training, coupled with Online Training Providers.

Our communities also believe in working with our partners in home health, hospice and other industry related partners to educate our staff on key issues in Assisted Living, such as Fall Intervention Strategies.

Accepted Answer

Animals are such amazing companions, and we do have Pets that visit us.  For you to be able to bring a Pet to the community, we would need to establish that you are able to look after your Pet, that they are fully immunized and pose no danger to any other residents.  Each person’s request would be assessed on an individual basis, and also consideration of other residents.

Accepted Answer

All of our menu is written and signed off by a Registered Dietician, to be sure that our residents are receiving the daily nutritional value. We also offer an ala carte menu or an alternative meal if the resident so chooses.

Our residents have the opportunity to partake in activities, which are designed ‘with them’.

Naturally, we have an early morning exercise program to start the day, and then this can be followed up with a range of available activities such as Puzzles, Arts and Crafts, Baking, Music and Dance, among many others.  We also try to encourage our residents to undertake activities that promote their skills or their working background.  For example, we have a resident who loves to organize and even do shredding!  This reminds them of their working life – they feel energized, and compliments a feeling of purpose.

All of our activities consider the impact on the resident’s physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs.  We aim to take a holistic approach, understanding that a simple puzzle, or some music can trigger meaning, purpose and general wellbeing for our residents.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Accepted Answer

Prior to admission the prospective resident will be assessed by the Executive Director for the communities, and the appropriateness of placement, must be in conjunction with our communities Admissions and Continued Residency Criteria.

We will also speak with families, physicians and other important individuals within the circle of support for the resident to ensure we are able to provide services that will enrich the individuals life.

Our assessments are continuous, however should a significant change occur, then we will complete a renewed assessment, or at least every 3 years following admission if there have been no significant changes.

What techniques does Annie's at Cape Bend use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?

Accepted Answer

Bella Vita believes that social integration is an important part of our daily lives, and even for those with cognitive decline, being with others can support in many different ways, however, we must be sure to balance this with an environment which is not overstimulating and cause agitation.

Dining areas are minimal, reduced of any items that are not required, so as to optimize the food, opposed to distractions, allowing the resident to focus.

Our interior design is also calming, in the soft grays, clean lines and patterns so as to not distract with patterns.

In some instances, our residents may need support with eating, and our staff are committed to be with their residents and assist with eating if required.

We are in constant contact with families to update them on their loved ones! Via phone calls, texts, and/or emails.
